Chapter Seventy-Nine: Gradual and Continuous
The situation has become very strange.
For some known reasons, it is inconvenient for the bodhisattvas (great sages) of the major Buddhist monasteries to evaluate and react to the fact that the White Horse Monastery has become a monk.
After all, all monks did not attack Buddhist temples, let alone Buddhism.
He just asked a very simple and straightforward question, and then made a big vow, and practiced it.
Even the monks who now follow Monk Fan are not bewitched by Monk Fan, but the monks take the initiative to follow Monk Fan and try to practice the Bodhisattva Dharma.
The only one who took the initiative to invite the monk was the lord of Guanglin.
As this matter spreads more and more widely, and the number of discussions increases, the impact on the three places will also increase.
The first is the White Horse Temple.
Originally, it was just that Monk Fan went to participate in the recruitment meeting of the county lord of Guanglin on behalf of the Zhike Academy, who would have thought that the monk Fan did "abduct" the county lord of Guanglin, but he made such a big news.
Based on some unknown things, the first Yuanzhi monk of Zhike Academy had already suspected that Monk Fan was the reincarnation of the Master of Immortality, and now he was even more determined to hold this idea.
It's just that when faced with the inquiry of the abbot of the White Horse Monastery and the head of the Vinaya Hall, the monk Yuanzhi did not express his suspicions.
"Senior uncle, senior brother, I really don't know."
From beginning to end, Monk Yuanzhi only had one sentence to answer the inquiries of the abbot and the head of the precept hall.
Monk Yuanzhi has a special identity and is the son of the abbot of the previous generation.
There is no definite matter of the monk, so the abbot and the head of the precept hall have no way to take the monk Yuanzhi.
can only continue to be perfunctory when you know that it is perfunctory.
The second place is the entire territory of the Song Kingdom.
A monk is currently leading people to walk in the territory of the Song Kingdom, with practical actions, tempering the Buddha's heart and practicing Buddhism.
The second is that the king of Guanglin County has a special status, and he is the first heir to the throne of the Song Kingdom, but he did not become the prince according to the convention.
And the only daughter of the king of Guanglin County, the lord of Guanglin County, followed Monk Fan.
Through the observation of such a period of time, people found that the lord of Guanglin is not a straw bag, or a vase, in the process of tempering the Buddha's heart and practicing the Dharma, the lord of Guanglin has shown a strong ability and a high skill.
That's where it gets interesting.
It seems that the lord of Guanglin is more suitable than the king of Guanglin to rule the secular of the Song Kingdom and govern the secular of the Song Kingdom!
The current emperor of the Song Kingdom is said to have been for more than ten days in a row, and he didn't think about tea, didn't want to eat, and was worried.
Although Buddhism is prosperous, it is high and high.
However, mundane chores must always be handled by someone, and the imperial court and yamen must still be set up.
There was both the imperial court and the yamen, and power came into being.
If you can't become a Buddhist Master, then become a worldly Master!
Therefore, the patriarchs and clansmen of the big family of the Song State understand the situation of the current emperor of the Song State very well, but they do not empathize with it, and can only laugh secretly.
Let's shoot yourself in the foot.
Let you suppress the king of Guanglin so ruthlessly!
If you don't do it so much, what kind of son-in-law recruitment conference will the king of Guanglin County do?
If you don't hold a son-in-law conference, even if all monks will still come to make such a big wish, it will also cause internal turmoil in Buddhism on other occasions, and will not affect the world.
The third place is the Temple of Mercy and Grace located in Bianjing, the capital of the Song Kingdom.
Monk Nengqing left the palace of Guanglin County on the same day, and returned to Ci'en Temple, reported the matter to his master, the abbot of Ci'en Temple, and asked the abbot of Ci'en Temple to order the Buddhist temples in the Song Kingdom to join forces to subdue demons.
However, the reply that the monk Nengqing received was a large basin of cold water toppings.
The abbot of the Temple of Mercy and Grace not only issued an edict, but also locked up the monk Nengqing, and made all the monks in the temple not go out.
Although it is not explicitly stated that the Temple of Mercy and Grace is closed, pilgrims can still worship the Buddha as usual, but the atmosphere of the Temple of Mercy and Grace has changed, and who understands that people can't feel it?
All of this was caused by Link who had incarnated as a monk, and it was not within Link's concern.
He now has a new problem.
As he practiced more and more, the monks who followed him became more and more suspicious of the Dharma.
But how much Dharma does Link know?
He is not proficient in Buddhism, but he has only learned some fur in his previous life, and in the years he has been dormant, he has collected a little bit of information about Buddhist civilization.
The reason why he wanted to stir up a dispute within the remnants of Buddhist civilization by making a great vow, reviving the Three Vehicles of Buddhism, and reasserting the Bodhisattva Buddhism was because Link did see the possibility of success in doing so.
Knowing that this can be done doesn't mean that Link is proficient in the Dharma.
Therefore, during this period of time, in the face of one question after another raised by the monks, Link avoided talking about it.
However, it is not good to avoid talking about it too often, and it is easy to arouse suspicion.
If it was really for his own cultivation, Link could completely ignore the monks and practice on his own.
That's not the end of the day.
Link still had to find a way to answer the monks' doubts, so that the monks would be more convinced of him and the Bodhisattva's Dharma, and more dissatisfied with the status quo of Buddhism and the world.
In this way, ideological disputes can smoothly breed and grow, until the remnants of Buddhist civilization are torn apart from within.
"What, you have a headache?"
Lotsnow's voice rang in Link's ears.
Link ignored it.
I know that I have a headache with the cheap big brother, and I don't want to help, but I stand on the side eating melons and watching the show, which is really ignorant.
Jasmine didn't hear Lotsnow's transmission, but based on what she knew about Link, she saw Link's brows frowning slightly, and guessed what was going on.
She immediately launched a rebuke from her cheap sister-in-law, and sent a message to warn Lotsnow not to add to the chaos.
Is Lotsnow the kind of person who knows how to give up?
No!
Therefore, Lotsnow not only did not converge, but became more rampant.
Word after sentence of schadenfreude reached Link's ears, like the whispers of demons.
Wait a minute......
Link thought of something and was inspired.
Demonic whispers......
Not......
It seems that it can be done in this way, and it should be able to coax for a while.
So, at noon that day, Link led the monks to complete the fate and after eating, he put on a posture of preaching and solving doubts.
Seeing this, many of the monks who followed immediately sat down around Link.
"I have heard of two Buddhist verses, and I would like to share them with you."
Link doesn't talk nonsense, there is no opening remark, it is dry goods when it comes up, "I don't have a certain opinion on this two, I don't distinguish between who is superior and who is inferior, who is right and who is wrong, who is high and who is low." ”
When many monks heard this, they paid more attention to it, and their mentality became more and more correct, waiting for what Link was going to say next.
Link didn't hesitate to speak, "The first one, called the Phaseless Side, listens to it. The body is a Bodhi tree, the heart is like a mirror platform, always wipe diligently, do not cause dust. ”
After reciting this poem, Link closed his mouth and motioned to the monks to ponder the Buddha's teachings contained in this poem.
Many monks, including the dust monk, fell into deep thought.
What is this Buddha verse talking about?
It talks about the methods and know-how of cultivating supreme bodhi.
The body, the body of the six roots that Tibetan knowledge holds.
Heart, hidden knowledge of the heart also.
The Bodhi tree and the mirror of clarity are used as metaphors to show that the nature of body and mind is clear and pure.
Jingyun: "The heart is the precept, because the precept is fixed, and because of the precept, it is called the three no leaks." ”
This solemn exhortation to the people of the world should be diligent in their practice, return to their confusion and become enlightened, and become pure, and if they follow the Dharma, they should gradually purify their confusion and obstacles, and they should not be slack off and let go.
All in all, what we pay attention to is the practice of Buddhism and the cultivation of Bodhi, which requires "gradual cultivation".
Four sentences and 24 words, concise and concise, vivid images, rich in Buddhism.
Many monks were fascinated by what they heard, and they felt that this Buddha poem alone was worth the trip.
"You kid can, you can think of this?"
Lotsnow, who had been hiding in the dark, jumped out again at this time, chattering.
Link ignored it, just quietly watched the monks sitting around him, immersed in the state of understanding the Buddha's teachings in "Wu Xiang".
"Shut up!"
Jasmine spotted Lotsnow's small movements in time and scolded her.
As they spent more time together, Jasmine became more and more adaptable to Lotsnow's changeable personality and became more relaxed in their way of getting along.
It's really like what Lotsnow often says, cheap big brother, cheap sister-in-law, cheap brother, not only the relationship is cheap (biàn yí), but also the way to get along is cheaper (biàn yí).
Link was happy to see that happening.
No matter how crazy Lotsnow's personality is, no matter how bad his actions are, he is the reincarnation of a saint after all.
This time, the task of infiltrating behind enemy lines and combining inside and outside is completed, and the will of the wizarding world will definitely not press Lotsnow again.
At that time, when and what posture he wanted to re-enter the realm of the Sage, it was just in the mind of Lotsnow.
Jasmine now has a good relationship with Lotsnow, and she will be able to rely on one more in the future.
Pressing the miscellaneous thoughts that appeared in his heart, Link glanced around at the monks, no longer giving the monks time to realize "The Phaseless".
I saw Link slowly speak: "The second Buddha verse I heard is called Bodhi verse. Bodhi has no tree, the mirror is not a platform, it is nothing, where to stir up dust. ”
As soon as the sound of the recitation of the "Bodhi Verse" fell, it immediately caused an uproar.
This Buddha poem is based on "Wu Xiang Verse", but it completely overturns the Buddhist principle of "Wu Xiang Verse"!
Doesn't "Wuxiang" use the Bodhi tree as a metaphor for the body and the mirror platform as a metaphor for the mind, indicating that the nature of the body and mind is clear and pure?
Now that our nature is clear and pure, where do we get rid of dust?
If you don't get dusty, why do you need to wipe it frequently?
The problem is, "Wuxiang Verse" is very Buddhist, and "Bodhi Verse" is also very Buddhist.
Both Buddhas have Buddhist principles, but they are-for-tat, which one should I believe?
Many monks couldn't help but fall into confusion.
Is it the gradual cultivation of the belief in the "Phaselessness", or the epiphany of the belief in the "Bodhi Verse"?
Gradual cultivation can prove the supreme bodhi, and epiphany can also prove the supreme bodhi.
They are practicing the Bodhisattva Dharma, so in order to attain supreme bodhi, in order to attain supreme enlightenment, they have to choose one of the gradual cultivation and epiphany, right?
Seeing this, a faint smile appeared on the corner of Link's mouth, and then he ignored the many monks who were lost in thought, and got up and left.
After three or two steps, Link's figure disappeared.
By the time many of the monks came to their senses, there was no trace of Link and Jasmine.
So, the monks set their sights on the dust monk.
"Don't look at me, how do I know?"
Seeing this, the monk shouted, pulled out his legs and ran, "If you want to ask yourself, the poor monk went back to the White Horse Monastery." ”
After a little smoke, the dust monk also ran away.
The monks did not disperse immediately, but discussed with each other for a long time.
Some people think that "gradual cultivation" is reasonable, there is a context to follow, and it is a bright and smooth path, while "epiphany" is also reasonable, but it attaches too much importance to understanding and chance, and is not suitable for the public.
If you cultivate self-realization, you can only attain enlightenment, and you can have an "epiphany";
If the awakening of cultivation is complete, the only way to attain supreme enlightenment is to "gradually cultivate".
Some people feel that "enlightenment" is reasonable, it is a broad road, and when the understanding is sufficient, as soon as the opportunity comes, they will attain enlightenment, and then they will awaken to perfection and attain supreme enlightenment.
In short, as the discussion progressed, the monks gradually split into two factions, unable to convince each other, and finally left their respective groups.
"Wu Xiang Verse" and "Bodhi Verse" were transmitted back to the major Buddhist temples along with the monks who left, and when they had not yet unified how to treat and treat all monks within Buddhism.
For a while, the Buddhists were a little careless, and they couldn't care about how to treat and treat all monks.
New hotspots are being generated, and they're heating up fast.
Gradual, epiphany, supreme bodhi, supreme enlightenment.
Two diametrically opposed but contradictory and unified Buddhist principles, two opposite paths but with the same purpose, are placed in front of all Buddhist temples and monks.
There is a tendency for a very large-scale, extremely deep speculation.
It's not that only the two paths of "gradual cultivation" and "enlightenment" can prove supreme enlightenment, which is why Buddhist temples and monks attach so much importance to it.
Rather, Link's great wish and two Buddha poems blew a gust of wind inside the Buddhist gate.
The wind called "Thinking and Debate".
Many Buddhist monasteries, many monks don't want to admit it, but they must admit that for a long time, they have just blindly worshiped the Buddha and cultivated their strength, and neglected to cultivate their minds.
Link's appearance, Link's actions, brought "mind cultivation" into their field of vision, and made supreme enlightenment the supreme pursuit again.
It is not that no one is aware of Link's hidden problem under the "Great Wish" and the two Buddha verses:
What is the true meaning of Buddhism?
What is the purpose of practicing Buddhism?
It's not that no one is aware of Link's sinister intentions.
But what about the initiators?
In the past, they could rely on the strength of the crowd and use the "evil way" to rebuke those few who were sober.
Now that they are one of the few sober people, how can they hope that their own sober theories can wake up the monks who are faintly caught in the frenzy of Buddhahood?
Under the call of "everyone can become a Buddha", continue to denounce the monks who brought the concept of "everyone can become a Buddha" back to Buddhism as "evil demons"?
I'm afraid they'll be branded as demons right away.
"Tut-tut......"
After discovering this change in Buddhism, Lotsnow couldn't help but exclaim, "Big brother cheap, your mouth is very slippery, and the words you say are really like ......."
"Demon whispers." (End of chapter)
