Chapter 35: A Desperate Fugitive
In the middle of the forest, Lindsay and Red groped their way in the direction of the sound.
The two barely made a sound.
But in the process, they noticed that the object that was making a movement in the forest was moving towards the spot where the bird fell.
Just over ten seconds later.
Under the cover of the layers of green trees, Lindsay and Red saw the source of all this movement.
Several tree spirits with bodies made of plant vines are surrounding the place.
They are hurried, eager and greedy, to eat the birds in order to replenish their severely depleted physical strength.
"Runaway Dryads...... Are these vegetative people eating meat instead? β
Lindsey and Red glanced at each other.
The two lowered their voices, and the girl spoke first and asked:
"Do you want to kill it?"
Lindsey immediately shook her head:
"We need to stay calm and not act impulsively."
"This forest is too big, it's rare to encounter a magical beast of this rank in the past month, observe it as much as possible......"
"Huh?"
Before Lindsay could finish speaking, there was a new movement in the distance.
The two of them looked into the forest to the east, and it seemed to be the sound of a behemoth crashing through the grass and trees, and the target was the tree spirits.
Even though the dense trees blocked the view, the countless birds and beasts in the forest were shocked by it, and almost drew a clear and definite path, making people feel the savage force that was rampaging like a tank.
ββ¦β¦β
This unexpected kick is really stepping on an incredible change?
Lindsey and Red have subtle expressions.
But they remained cautious and continued to wait and see.
On the other hand, the tree spirit below was already silent at the moment.
They stood up, looked in horror in the direction from which the sound had come, and fled off the distance without looking back.
It was only then that they began to scream in despair in beast language.
"It's over, he's catching up".
"Don't give up, run away, we will definitely be able to escape!"
"Forest, why?"
The dryads fled westward in a panic.
Lindsay, who was hiding in the shadows, followed, and he roughly estimated that reality was cruel to these dryads.
Their speed is completely behind that of their pursuers.
If nothing else, they will be completely caught up in half an hour!
"Red, let's decide whether to make a move or not depending on the situation."
Lindsay commanded, and Red nodded slightly, and immediately followed the chase.
β¦β¦
A quarter of an hour later, what Lindsay had expected happened.
The four fleeing dryads, even though they tried their best to push their speed to the limit, still couldn't escape the pursuers behind.
In the shadows of the jungle.
A three-meter-tall gray-black giant bear rushed out with a ferocious roar.
Next to its strong body, there are more than a dozen gray timberwolves. Some of them were guarding the bear, while others were faster, blocking the four dryads and surrounding them.
In times of crisis, the dryads are forced to stand together.
Faced with the threat of death, the thorns on their bodies began to grow rapidly and kink together to form a dark green barrier full of spikes.
A desperate cry rang out from the barrier:
"We just want to get out of the forest!"
"Ash, let's leave, it's good for everyone!"
"Roarβ"
The giant bear opened its bloody mouth.
A deafening roar rang out in the forest.
This behemoth had no intention of communicating with these fugitives.
It rushed straight forward, its huge bear paw covered with a layer of dark gray light, and with a single claw, it tore a crack in the hard thorn back.
"Betrayers, there is only one way to die!"
The trapped dryads had no way out, and death was imminent.
They stared desperately at the falling bear claws.
Subsequently......
'Smack'.
The giant bear, which had cornered the four dryads, suddenly fell to the ground!
"Huh?"
The treant in the thorn barrier looked dazed.
They later found out that at some point, the giant bear had an extra arrow on its head!
And this arrow is not an ordinary stabbing wound.
At the point where the arrow was hit in the bear's head, as if it had been smashed with a giant hammer, a dent appeared.
Ice, fire, and corrosion.
Three energies with different properties took effect at the same time, directly turning the giant bear's brain into a mass of colored paste!
ββ¦β¦β
βοΌβ
Where do the attacks come from?
And when did the arrow get in?
A Stage 5 jungle bear just died?
Countless doubts came out of the minds of these dryads. They can't comprehend what's happening in front of them, but in any case, reality is already in front of them - they are saved!
Sou! Sou! Sou!
Almost at the same time, several more sounds of breaking the air sounded.
Through the cracks in the thorn barriers, the dryads could see clearly.
Several fiery spears shot out of the forest shadows.
The gray wolves of the forest, who were still surrounding them a second ago, immediately hit their spears one after another, and fell to the ground in hot pursuit, each wound showing terrible burning marks!
"Whew-"
The giant bear who took the lead was killed in an instant, and the rest of his companions also fell.
The remaining forest gray wolves completely lost the will to fight, turned around and fled into the dense forest.
There is not a trace of hunting ferocity in them.
Until the situation developed like this.
The dryads finally saw who was helping them.
It was a creature that resembled an ape, but had very little body hair, and walked upright on the ground.
"Humans?"
Lindsay, who was the first to appear, didn't bother with the dryads.
He only left a command of "Red, you take care of them", and the figure disappeared into the shade of the forest in the direction of the forest wolf's escape.
After a while, the aftermath slowly floated over:
"Our activities in the forest need to be kept secret, and I will be back as soon as possible."
Click!
The sound of a sharp weapon being pulled out of the corpse attracted the attention of the dryads again.
They turned their heads to look in the direction of the sound and found something startling.
The red spears that had just stabbed those gray wolves to death had all disappeared at this moment!
The only forest gray wolf with a spear stuck in its corpse was a human female, who trampled off her neck with one kick and pulled out the crimson spear.
"Tsk-"
Red disdainfully kicked the gray wolf beneath him.
After making sure the guy was dead, she circled around the dryads and shot all the gray wolves in the woods who had fallen to the ground.
After making sure that all the Timber Wolves were dead any longer, it walked to the Dryads without saying a word.
"Human!"
Witnessing this merciless scene, a dryad said in a trembling beast language:
"Thank you for saving us, I ......"
"Don't talk yet!"
Red took the initiative to interrupt the trembling gratitude of the dryads.
The girl didn't even look at the dryad, but patted the head of the bear that had fallen to the ground.
A five-stage demonic beast.
Faced with a silent sneak attack, he was hit in the head by an arrow and died on the spot.
Red prefers to think about the topic of combat.
She propped her white chin with one hand, raised her gaze, and began to imagine tonight's combat training.
"If you let Lindsey use this trick on me when you train tonight."
"Can I get through it?"
