Chapter 127: Fragments of the Past: The Last Stop of Blood
"Our target," Leonard Hargraves faces his team in human form, "is Freddie Sabino, alias Bloodflow." β
Pictures of the psychopath's past appear on the screen, next to the bloody abomination he has become. Short black hair, a tired face aged by stress, brown eyes...... An inconspicuous man with a terrible fate.
Freddie Sabino
eddie Sabi
o) Born in 1980 in Otranto, Italy, to a family of fishermen and a housewife, he married at an early age, dropped out of school after his girlfriend became pregnant, and then joined the Otranto Municipal Police; It's his only job. Before Easter last year, his wife abandoned him for another man, leaving him alone to raise his two young children. One daughter is named Lun β perhaps short for Linora β and a son named Cesare. β
In short, there is nothing special about this person. If the end of the world hadn't happened, Freddie Sabino might have lived a normal life. Put the money aside and watch his kids go to college and maybe get married.
"While alchemists sent magic boxes to families or isolated individuals, there were some elixirs that fell into the hands of law enforcement on the eve of Easter last year; Usually because they are mistaken for drug batches or letter bombs. Beginning with the apocalypse, when the genome runs rampant in Otranto, Freddy Sabino flees the city by stealing two vials of elixir from the police station. β
Until the police confiscate these elixirs, they will never know who these elixirs are given to. Perhaps, many tragedies could have been avoided if they had reached their intended owners.
"We know that Sabino was active as a 'psychopath' back in 2009." Leo showed his team a photo of a bloody monster boarding a rusty car next to two children under the age of 12. "There are reports that he has been traveling with his children since the late 2000s, although his son was not confirmed alive until 2012."
Someone in the audience raised a gloved hand. Leo nodded in response. "Really?"
"Do kids have superpowers, too?" Mr. Bo asked. He is the eccentric of the group, a creature with a wavelength of life who rarely takes things seriously. "Mr. Bo didn't give it his all on the kids, even though they were genomics."
"There's nothing the kids can do," Matthias Martel said. The 16-year-old insisted on joining the carnival after his mother suffered from dementia, determined to get her job done. He proved to be an invaluable intelligence gatherer, though not as good as Pisia.
Ace nodded, his face gloomy. "If they were genomes, he would have killed them."
"There is no indication that they are complicit in their father's crimes," Leo continued. "According to the psychic report of Picia, even in his current state, the blood still strongly protects his child. However, he also made them dependent on him through social isolation, gaslighting, and physical abuse. β
Leo has seen many similar cases in London; Too much. These fathers convince their children that the world is working against them and that they can only rely on their relatives.
"We have to make sure the kids are safe, especially Ryan Sabino, but I'll talk about them later." Leo continues to expose their target's abilities. "Blood is a green/blue type. His green power gives him complete control over his blood. He can reshape it into a weapon, create tentacles, and reassemble his body. His blue energy turned him into pure information. If he were still a pure blue man, this might get him into the computer system. β
This will make it easier to kill him.
But as is often the case with psychopaths, his two powers mutate to form a unique synergy. The blood became his blood, really. Each of his blood cells carries his consciousness, and as long as there is one, he can be reborn. Only disintegration can kill him. β
"We need your flame." Cossacks guessed.
Leonard nodded. "It gives us a glimpse of his most terrifying abilities; That's why he's been unbeaten for so long and racking up a four-figure death toll. If a blood cell in the blood enters another person's circulatory system, then he can take it over. Like a virus, he will overlay the information of foreign cells with his own cells. Your DNA, your thoughts, your memories...... If the blood touches you, you're worse than dead. β
Leonard paused for emphasis.
"You're him."
"What do you think?" The dwarf asked as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. Her clothes had become dark and dirty, but she looked proudly at her work.
Standing on the dock of the houseboat beside her, Ryan was not as enthusiastic as she was. "It would be a miracle if we could get into Spain, let alone the United States."
The houseboat smells of rust and rotting paint, and the ceiling could collapse at any moment. The 10-meter boat, which floats in a pond and has direct access to the Tyrrhenian Sea, is a bulky metal boat in the shape of a pineapple. The shape of this machine and the rusty brown color scheme reminded Ryan of IctΓ
Submarine of the EO II type, which was one of the first submarines in the world.
It doesn't inspire confidence.
Len grabbed his arm in response. "Laika would be fine," she said. "According to autopilot, we will arrive in the United States in twelve days."
Ryan narrowed his eyes and looked at her suspiciously. "Laika?"
"It's like the dogs that the Russians sent into space."
Do they want to go to the United States? She will never get used to it. "You know she died in the middle of a mission, right?" You condemned us all!"
Ryan tried to pinch his arm again, but Ryan saw it. He dodged her vicious attack, grabbed her by the waist, and treacherously kissed her neck. Her skin was soft to the touch, and she let out a lovely gasp in surprise.
"Ryli, don't be here." She whispered in protest and put her hands on his.
"Just a kiss," Ryan asked, pleading, his lips moving to her cheek. "Come on, we deserve it. We've been doing this non-stop for weeks. β
"Reli, you're crazy......" Len whispered, but she didn't fight back. Eventually, she relented. "Okay, but five minutes at most."
They made out for fifteen minutes, her hands in his hair and his hands on her back. Ryan smelled of oil and salt water, but Ryan didn't care. He won't stop no matter what. But like all good things, it all ended too quickly.
"That's stupid," Lun said as she broke the hug, though her blushing cheeks disagreed.
Ryan wouldn't stop at just kissing if she allowed it.
Their first night together was nothing short of a nightmare. First, they had to find pre-war pills and unused condoms that were not expired. Then they had to wait for her father to slip away so he wouldn't catch them red-handed. When the right time comes, Ryan and Ryan realize they don't know how to proceed. No one taught them finer details, so their kisses and touches were very clumsy.
But they found out. For a moment, Ryan and Ryan were alone in this world. Two halves are equal to one.
Ryan wouldn't stop for a night, but her father never let them out of sight for too long. Not since Fiesta started hunting his clones. The two teens had to sneak kisses and caresses, always afraid of being discovered.
This situation causes Ryan to die deep inside every day. Lunn's father was always there. Always between them. always ruins their chances of happiness. Always get them in trouble.
Now, that crazy madman has decided to leave Europe with his family and move to the United States. What kind of logical process the blood flow went through to get this idea to come to this idea, Ryan will never understand. But he left no choice for his charges.
Before the end of the world, Porto Venere was a coastal town with several colorful houses built next to a long marina. Before their team moved in, the locals had abandoned the place long ago. It was isolated enough that no one could find their hiding place, but close enough to Genoa to deliver supplies.
But now only Ryan has left the house on his own. Shorty spends her time on submarines while her father hides in their makeshift accommodation. As long as the blood comes out in public, the carnival will come to them, but if Ryan takes precautions, he can slip out unnoticed.
"If there are oranges and mandarins, can you bring them back?" Ryan asked Ryan if he was about to leave the houseboat through a small door. "We have reserves now at risk of scurvy."
"I'll do what I can," he said, his hand frozen before it could touch the lock. "Hey, ...... Elf"
"Hmmm......"
"You say everything on the submarine is automated?" No manual controls?"
"yes," she said, sighing. "I can do a lot with my powers, but scrap ships aren't the best source of materials. I had to sacrifice some features to get the whole game running. β
"What if we have a problem on the road?"
"Well, the submarine will automatically turn to the nearest coast. Hopefully, during this time, Dad will protect us. β
Ryan looked back, and their eyes met. "I'm worried about your dad."
Len bit his lower lip and crossed his arms. "Reli, I'...... My position has not changed. β
Ryan has tried to convince her to elope with him a dozen times. Keep her father stranded on the shore while they flee across the sea. Bloodflow may have an uncanny ability to find his daughter when she wanders, but he also can't swim across the Atlantic.
But the dwarf didn't listen. Ryan can argue and scream as much as she wants, but she's still as stubborn as a mule. "They're going to chase him all the time," he warned her. "As long as he lives, they won't let us go."
"They won't chase us across the sea," she replied stubbornly.
"I've heard that their leader, the Living Sun, can fly at supersonic speeds and even fly in space," Ryan retorted. "It would take us a few days to cross the ocean, and it would take him hours."
"But they haven't found us yet." They hid well, yes. "They can't find us, Reli."
She meant the statement, but it sounded like a fervent prayer.
Truth be told, Ryan wonders if it would be a bad thing if Carnival cornered their "Guardian" and killed him forever. However, he worries that they won't stop at just the bloodstream, as the family has been seen traveling together. Rya
and Le
May be labeled as an accomplice to a psychopath and face the same punishment.
However, he still couldn't help but dream that the sun was sprinkled on his blood at night.
Ryan sighed, opened the door, and walked through the rest of the building. He guessed that it was once a yacht club, where the rich could store their boats, watch football matches on TV, and relax in restaurants.
"Caesar!"
His shrill voice chilled Ryan's heart, causing him to freeze in place.
The young teenager followed the voice to the dining room of the house. Bloodstream lazily lay on the shabby couch in front of the TV. As far as Ryan knows, this is the last clone. Carnival pursued them mercilessly, and the group had to flee from the civilized world.
"Come here," said the psychopath, gesturing to a spot to his left. Ryan reluctantly complied, and his kind and well-adapted stepfather pointed to the TV. "This is Super Sen. Do you remember Super Sentai?"
The screen of the TV had long since turned to broken glass, but Ryan indulged the paranoid man anyway. "I remember, Dad."
"You're so obsessed with the series, you're always pestering me to buy you toys," Bloodstream said, shaking her head. "I ...... I wish I had money at the time. "I really want to make you happy, Caesar."
"It's okay, Dad," Ryan lied, making motions.
"No, no," he said, putting his head close to the captive's ear. "Your sister is sick, Caesar. She was very sick. β
Ryan shuddered down his spine. "Lunn seems healthy to me," he protested.
But psychopaths don't listen. "She's sick, Caesar. All of us who have taken this poison, are sick. The disease is with us. The whole world went crazy about it. I think they put demons in these bottles. I know because I dreamed of hell. β
"You...... Did you dream of hell?"
"Green hell. I wandered in the night in its wriggling woman. The floor beats like your heart, and the walls have mouths and eyes. And the air, and when I breathe, I feel like a thousand flies have flown into my lungs. Even the water turned back to me and spoke. Hell is alive, Caesar. It's an infestation. Satan distributes these bottles in order to poison the entire human race with his offspring. β
Ryan didn't say anything, he knew it was best not to talk back to the blood while talking nonsense.
"Do you know what cancer is, Cesare?" Your grandmother died of the disease. It's insidious, cancerous. It grows in your body, and it is intertwined with your organs, like the roots of a tree in fertile soil. You have to remove it carefully, or you will ruin the whole garden. The blood slapped his adoptive son on the shoulder, as if to congratulate him on winning a football match. Someday I'll find a way to operate on your sister. Get her back to health. I'll figure it out, don't worry. β
Ryan remained motionless, clenched into fists. He knew it was only a matter of time before he had to watch his daughter to make ends meet. The psychopath had not eaten for several weeks, and his consciousness was becoming less and less conscious.
"I don't know what to do if you and your sister are both dead. I love you. I...... Love both of you so much. β
The blood began to sob, and he held his head with both hands. Ryan didn't know how to react, so he didn't say anything.
"I'm sorry, Cesare," Bloodflow said, the fluid that made up his body moving like a raging sea. "I'm sorry...... I can't...... I just want to protect you both, but I ...... I ruined it all. "Now that Lun is sick, I am also sick. I'm sick, Caesar. β
"It'......" Ryan looked at the bewildered, crying monster. He wanted to hate him and take revenge for his years of fear and abuse, but ...... But at that moment, he was no longer afraid of blood.
He sympathizes with the people inside.
"I'm left with you alone," he whimpered. "Your mom is gone. Our house is gone. I just, I don't know what to do, that place is calling me. Someday...... Someday I won't be coming back, and ...... Your sister ......"
"I'm ......" Ryan winced in pity and disgust, a warm feeling filling his heart. He carefully raised a hand and placed it on the shoulder of the bloody monster. He's warm and slippery to the touch. "That's good. I'll protect Len, I swear. β
Physical contact seemed to soothe Freddie Sabino, and his appearance became as calm as a Japanese pond. "I'm sure your mother is waiting for us across the ocean," he said, his voice trembling and hopeful. "She... She always wanted to go to Los Angeles, where she waited for us, and waited and see. Let's start over. Let everything go back to normal. β
"Yes," Ryan lied. He felt like comforting a child with cancer, telling him he was going to heaven. "It's going to be fine, Dad."
For a moment, he believed it. Ryan lied to himself, and for a moment, he thought his blood circulation would improve. The people inside can regain control; Ryan can call himself Ryan instead of Caesar; He can marry Ryan, build a house by the sea, and raise the children peacefully. A simple dream, for a simple person.
The dream quickly turned into a nightmare.
Bloodstream looked at the broken TV set, as if it had a sudden inspiration. "If you die." He said, his voice no longer shaking. "If you die with your sister...... I'm going to kill everyone. β
Bloodstream said softly, and Ryan felt it was almost a comfort.
Then the young teenager understood these words, and they gave him chills.
"I'm going to kill everyone, and then I'm going to kill myself," Bloodflow continued, drowning in his delirium. "A world where children can die...... Not worth existing. We'll be together on the other side. If we were all together, it wouldn't be hell, would we?"
After the confession, the blood flowed and said nothing. He spends all his time on the couch, looking at the broken screen with a terrifying intensity. A deranged gunman mentally prepares for a crime.
Ryan started hating him again.
He was also angry with himself, and actually took pity on the monster for a second. Because he thought things would get better, he forgot the horror that blood had brought to his family and countless others. If there was anyone in his bloody head, the monster would have eaten him years ago.
Ryan hesitated for ten minutes before leaving the house, fearing that he might come back to find Ryan dead at her father's hands. He always felt this way whenever he left these two. Someday it will happen.
The fresh air outside didn't bring him any comfort, and he walked towards the bike with a bag on his back. A thought bites the young man's heart like a worm in an apple.
There's no way Lane made it to America alive.
Ryan could feel it in his bones. He would cry and regret it when he was so close, so isolated that her father would lose control, but he would still do that terrible thing. If not during the trip, then on arrival.
He's like a ticking time bomb that one day he'll explode.
The blood flow must stop. For the good of Ryan, for the good of all.
Ryan opened the bag and checked the violet elixir he had kept inside. Fortunately, the blood only detected the elixir in genomic blood; But it means that the moment his adopted son uses the potion on himself, he will know.
The liquid swirls inside the syringe as if it were alive, a promise of power and freedom. Maybe it could give Ryan a power greater than blood? Unlikely, but what else could he do?
The second time the sun flew through the sky, answering his prayers.
The Carnival's screen becomes a graphic representation of the possession process. A drop of blood infected an adult man, spreading through his veins like an infection, engulfing organs from within.
The skin quickly cracked, allowing the blood to flow out, and the blood regenerated.
"He will infect your bloodstream like a virus and reassemble your body into his clones. In fact, we think he does it so often that his current body is no longer what it used to be. Leo was followed by a nervous silence as his team digested the information. All of his copies share his abilities, forming a loose swarm mind, like the cells of a larger body. β
"So, if Mr. Bo kills half of them at once, the remaining half will be afraid of him?" The bragging genome sits lazily in a chair. "It's a repeat of the Maykelen."
"Not exactly, but close," Leo confirmed. "In order to get rid of him, we must destroy all copies of him, leaving no trace. Not a single drop. Every time we ambush a clone, I'll burn it and Stitch will disinfect the area. Luckily, Bloodflow is a lone wolf psychosis. Unlike people like Adam the Ogre, he lacks a support network. β
"He's a loner bunch." Cossack said.
"Yes, and his clones are never more than a mile away from each other, perhaps to keep their swarm mindset alive. If we separate the blood doubles from the bystanders, we can eliminate them one by one. It's like a scalpel cutting a tumor before it multiplies. β
"Do we know where they are?" Ace asked. "I didn't find any information in Pisia's data."
Mathias nodded, successfully following them. "The family travels around Italy irregularly and never stays in the same place for long, but the last time they saw them was near the Alps."
"Once we go to war, we must hunt him down mercilessly and keep him away from populated areas," Leonard said.
"Is there a limit to his powers?" Ace turned to face Stitch. "Have you finished examining the biological samples we can find?"
"Yes," the plague doctor nodded in confirmation. "I have been waiting for this meeting to verify the intelligence gathered by our leaders."
Leonard smiled. Although the "carnival" is a well-organized organization, they operate in separate cells and only gather in one place for debriefings or large operations. This structure allows for a great deal of flexibility for each member and makes the group very resilient. Members may die, but there will always be someone who will survive and bring Mardi Gras back to life.
"First of all, he can only control his own blood," Leonard explained, showing a picture of blood splitting the Augustan genome in two with a crimson crystalline axe. "He can't control your blood telepathically unless he infects you first. He also can't produce mass out of thin air, which is why he needs the host to replicate himself. β
"Then there's no voodoo doll or anything like that?" Mr. Bo asked. "Mr. Bo hates these things."
"I've had enough of the manic plague." Ace shrugged in agreement.
Next, he could only manage a few clones at a time, with a high record of 10 doubles. If they break through this limit, the clones will begin to absorb each other in order to reduce their numbers, possibly to reduce the risk of them developing independent minds. He can only influence humans, so-"
Stitch raised his hand.
"Yes, needle?"
"With all due respect, sir," the doctor coughed. "You're wrong."
Lunn was picking out which books to bring to the submarine when an explosion rang out outside.
The entire houseboat shuddered, and a metal plate landed on the Laika and bounced off the hull. The genius stumbled and lost control of the book. Some landed safely on the docks, but to her horror, her copy of Lenin's The State and Revolution sank into the pond.
"What's going on?!" Her father did not answer. A smell of smoke and fire wafted from the sea and was blown into the houseboat. "Dad? Daddy?"
Someone opened the door to the houseboat with a backpack full of canned goods.
"Rihanna?" He looked tired, as if he had run for miles. "Riley, what's going on?"
"We have to go," he gasped. "They're here. Carnival".
Her worst fears happened.
Another explosion echoed in the distance, like a bombardment. This was his last corpse, Ryan realized in horror. If they kill him now...... "Daddy-"
"It's stalling," Ryan said, grabbing her book from the floor. "We've got to go."
"Let's go? Where to go?"
Genius looked her boyfriend in the eye and she understood.
"No," Len said. "Maybe Daddy will beat them."
Many tried to kill him, but he never failed. Her father always came back and always overcame the odds. He fought with Augustus, marauders and heroes, and he defeated them all. The carnival will fail like the others.
"We've got to run, dwarf. There are too many of them, and your father can't beat them. Ryan jumped on the submarine and cautiously moved towards the hatch. Start the submarine and your dad will catch up with us in a few minutes. β
Lunn wanted to protest further, but the panic in his voice convinced her. She followed her boyfriend, opened the hatch, and slipped into the submarine together.
It was a cramped place with only three rooms: one in the back for the machines, one for stockpiling supplies, and a living room. Le
Space was sacrificed for efficiency, only a bunk bed was retained, next to a small porthole and the submarine's control panel. It took them days to find a computer to find a screen and keyboard.
"How did they find us?" Ryan asked, typing on the computer while Ryan put her books and his food in the pantry. "Did they follow you?"
"I wasn't careful."
His unapologetic tone made her stop. She stopped what she was doing and looked at him, and immediately saw guilt in his gaze.
"You don't want to hide at all," Ryan accused him. "You brought them here."
He didn't even deny it.
He...... No, he can't..."Rihanna......"
"Lunn, your father is sick," he said, his gaze steadfast. "He's sick in the head."
"I know," she whispered through gritted teeth, "I know, butβ"
"But nothing." Ryan interrupted her. "If we don't run away, he'll kill us. He'll kill you. β
"He won't," she protested, though she wasn't sure. "We ...... Lili, I've been taking elixir for weeks and he's never been ......"
"Not yet," Ryan said, a grim look on his face. "Not forever, dwarf."
"So you're going to let him die?" Lun trembled with anger. "You're going to stranded him on the shore and let Carnival kill him?"
"Ryan, I'......" Ryan struggled to find the right wording. We don't need him. I can make you happy, Ryan. We can start over, just the two of us. β
"How? She asked, shaking her head. "We can't defend ourselves."
"You're a genius, and I have my elixir. We can take care of ourselves. β
"It's crazy!"
"The whole plan was crazy from the start, but it was the best thing we could do." His hand reached for her. "Ryanβ"
"Don't touch me!" Len hissed, leaning his back against the porthole. Ryan froze, her refusal hurt him and hurt her. "Why? Why?"
"For us! He snapped. "We!"
"Here you go!" Tears welled up in her eyes. "You want to take me for yourself."
"I want you alive!"
His words made her wince, as if he had slapped her.
She looked Ryan in the eye and saw their concern. She was wrong; He didn't do it for himself, but for her.
He loved her as much as she loved him.
There was a part of her mind that wanted to do what he said. Drop everything and drive the submarine out into the sea. To travel the world, just the two of them.
But every time ...... Every time she saw the monster her father had turned into, she remembered that he had been a kind person. He always smiled at her and her brother, her own brother. He was always there after Mom left, always comforting Len while she was crying in bed. Sometimes, the man would pick himself up again, and in these brief moments, his daughter felt hope.
"Please, Ryan. As long as he is alive, as long as he is alive, it is possible for him to be healed. β
Despite this, Lunn could not allow herself to hate her father.
"I can't do without him," Ryan said, avoiding his disappointed gaze. "I'm sorry, Relily...... Not without him. β
His fierce gaze made her shiver. His hands trembled, his teeth gritted, and his face twisted. Lunn saw anger, disappointment, and sadness flash across his face.
Then there is resignation.
"Turn on the autopilot," Ryan said as he walked towards the hatch. "If we don't come back in twenty minutes, your father and I will be dead."
"Riley, if I turn on autopilot, I can't turn it off."
"If you stay, they might kill you," he said gloomily, "and they'll probably kill all of us, just to make sure the blood is really gone." β
It's always the same pattern. When the people fail to kill Ryan's father, they set their sights on Ryan and her. It's always their families against the world.
"Ryan," Ryan whispered in the middle of the open hatch.
He stopped.
"Ryan, please come back."
He looked back. "Alive, Ryan," he said before leaving the submarine.
Le
The autopilot was activated, the timer was set, and waiting.
Leo frowned. "What do you mean when you say there is no upper limit to his power?"
"After analyzing the samples we collected, I confirmed that our target was not limited to human hosts. Anything with a circulatory system will do, including the entire animal kingdom. The doctor made a brief pause. Biologically, he also does not seem to be limited by the number of clones that are active at the same time. I'm afraid both of these 'restrictions' are purely psychological. β
Leonard's back shuddered. He resisted the urge to become a living sun again, driving away fear. If Stitch is right, then...
"But why did he leave only a dozen stand-ins?" Matthias asked suspiciously. "Especially if they share a pseudo-swarm mentality?" Why are they attacking each other? I can understand if each clone is independent, but ......"
"Because he hates himself in the depths of his heart." The Cossacks succinctly guessed. "What has become of him."
Freddie Sabino wanted to die deep down. His psychological trauma weakened him and prevented him from reaching his full potential.
Ace and Leonard exchanged glances, her face as white as milk. She also understands the dangers. "Stitch, let's be honest," she asked the doctor. "What would happen if he gave it his all?"
"He's going to be an epidemic," Stitch confirmed. "Since Sabino can infect others with blood projectiles, he will destroy Italy in a few days if he is not quarantined. If he absorbs birds or fish, then the "blood plague" can infect the entire planetary biosphere in a few months. Only a physically abnormal genome like Augustus can survive. β
It's right there. Pidia had warned of their extermination.
The flow of blood will not only destroy all life on Earth; He will become life itself.
A deathly silence followed, which was quickly broken by the calm Cossack. "The woman is the death of his daughter?" Isn't it his brother's?"
"Picia can't explain it clearly," Leonard confirmed. Her data contains only B
oadstokes information. The future is constantly changing, and other genomes often interfere with her vision. "But if Ryan Sabino died, her father would have caused an extinction event."
"We can assume that our target loses all mental restraint and then goes berserk," Stitch explains.
"He will hate the world more than he will hate himself." Ace whispered sadly.
Stitch nodded in agreement. "According to Pisia's prophecy, unless we intervene, Ryan Sabino will perish"
The Cossacks crossed their arms. "He must die. No matter the cost. β
"No, not by any means," Mr. Bo protested. "Don't touch the child."
"Aside from having the same moral concerns as you, our only advantage over blood is that he doesn't fully understand what he's capable of," Leo said. "We have to kill all the clones in a short time and move the children to a safe place. Ace, you're in charge of transferring the wounded to the infirmary. Stitch, Maceius, you stay on the reservation. β
Matthias Martel immediately protested. "Butβ"
"No but, young man. Haven't you heard? Your range is too short, and if he hits you once, it's all over. β
When Ryan leaves the yacht club, the fight continues.
It doesn't take him long to find the battlefield; He just had to follow the smoke rising from the sky.
His plan was simple. Don't take any precautions during the resupply process, make sure the pilots of the carnival notice him and let them follow him back to their hideout. Ryan feared that if he approached them directly, they might think he had set a trap, but his plan worked.
At least so far.
This plan is crazy. Ryan knew it from the beginning. It was a rash conspiracy born out of frustration and despair, a last attempt to get out of an impossible situation. But Lunn refuses to back down, even after he forces her to give in. Now that he has put the dominoes in place, he can't undo their fall.
This can only end in tears.
Unless...
Ryan looked at his elixir and at the strange power in the syringe. It has caused so much suffering and yet created so many miracles. Maybe the blood flow is right, it's the devil's handiwork. Maybe it's a gift from heaven.
But whether it comes from above or below, that's Ryan's only hope.
He slammed the syringe into his arm, praying for a miracle.
The whole world turned purple and Ryan ran away.
