Volume II: Explanation
(Although it's not the main text, it's a bit long, but I recommend everyone to read it)
This time, because it is thirty chapters in a row, there are a few chapter reviews other than the last chapter and the summary at the end of the volume.
So I only got the approximate feedback yesterday.
This single chapter is opened because there is a place in the last thirty chapters of the second volume that has not been dealt with well, and it needs to be explained to everyone.
In fact, it is very inferior to interpret it after writing, especially if the author comes by himself.
But several readers mentioned it in the chapter review, and there were also questions in the group.
Considering that there shouldn't be too much to fully understand, I have to take a unified look.
Β·Β·Β·Β·Β·Β·
In a word, it is the change in Hong Fan's mood.
Many readers think that after Zhan Yuanzi's death, Hong Fan's grief was too great.
This is a misconception.
Hong Fan had a lot of emotions along the way, and sadness was only one part, and then even a smaller part.
Based on Hong Fan's perspective: where his emotions come from, what emotions they are, and what their mental journey is, I will disassemble them here.
At the beginning, there are four layers of emotions.
[Quote from the original text:
There is anger under sorrow, and there is powerlessness under anger.
What is powerless?
Hong Fan couldn't suppress the heat all over, got up and took off his robe.
On his arms, the hairs stood upside down.
In an instant, he understood the emotions he had hidden deep in his bone marrow.
Fear.
Hong Fan was able to think for a moment.
- Chapter 277]
The first is sadness.
It's easy to understand.,Eat and live with him.γThe personality is very good.γThe comrade-in-arms who helped him develop a killing method was suddenly assassinated.,So sad.γ
The second is anger.
The assassin was lawless and killed his friend in Asahi (Hong Fan's house), so he was angry.
The third is powerlessness.
Man is dead, and there is no way to get it back.
The fourth is fear.
This matter is not clear for the time being, Hong Fan suddenly realized that his thriving and ambitious life may be shattered at any time, and he even felt that Zhan Yuanzi might have died for himself.
At this time, we will characterize Hong Fan - he is still the one who pursues pragmatism and puts personal interests first.
Because Zhan Yuanzi died, the deepest and strongest thing in his heart was fear.
During the funeral, the funeral intensified Hong Fan's grief.
These four emotions lasted until Hong Fan learned the news that Ye Shu was coming.
[Quote from the original text:
"The cases that can be handled by the public are all major cases, which need to be submitted by the state according to the prosecutor's office, and then approved and entrusted by the criminal department - some cases have to be scheduled on an annual basis."
"This time, he happens to be next to Xijing, so he is expected to be invited, otherwise I don't know how long it will take for the case of Asahi Mansion to be ranked with his number."
"I can only say that this time it was too much of a coincidence......"
Jiang Lechi said while eating.
He has quick hands and quick mouths, and quickly eats most of the braised beef.
Hong Fan was a little stunned.
The other party's sentence "It's too coincidental" just now touched him inexplicably.
ββ280γ
This sentence was too coincidental for Hong Fan to realize for the first time that there was another hidden meaning in this matter, and there might be a mastermind behind it.
[Quote from the original text:
"We are Xingjun, although it is the same thing, but we can't wait for the idle power."
"Dignitaries and nobles, each has a bad heart."
"So they weren't afraid of me."
Ye Chu had a special momentum when he said this, as if he was a fox and a fake tiger.
"It's a pity that my fateful master is not good at fighting, and most of the time I can only be a clear ghost, and I can't be as quick as your sand world......
ββ282γ
Ye Chop walked sideways in the God Kyoto.
But this black hand is so powerful that even he can arrange it at will to create this "coincidence".
Hong Fan realized that this was a game.
He's weak in this game.
Then it's time to complete the Fatalistic Rite.
Hong Fan understood the enemies on the surface, the five assassins and the three members of the Ao family.
[Quote from the original text:
Hong Fan opened his eyes and saw the Western world, and the remnant sun covered half of the sky.
Thinking of those six faces, he only felt that the blood all over his body was burning.
ββ284γ
[Quote from the original text:
"Ten days ago, that sword struck me here, and it hurt me......"
He held his heart down.
"Wait any longer, my blood will burn dry!"
ββ285γ
At this time, his killing intent was strongly increased.
The reason is very simple, the thing was done by the Ao family - that is to say, it is not a personal vendetta, it is aimed at Zhan Yuanzi.
The conflict between Zhan Yuanzi and the Ao family came from Hong Fan's judgment that "participating in the Wang Mincai case would have no impact on the second squad" and persuaded Wu Hongyan (Chapter 253).
As the actual "Si Ye" and "Team Zheng" of the second squad, he believes that he is responsible for Zhan Yuanzi's death - perhaps it was my carelessness and self-righteousness that led the Ao family to kill Zhan Yuanzi.
Then Tiqi began an operation of revenge.
At this time, Hong Fan's mood had changed.
First, he considers himself morally responsible for this.
Second, the energy of the mastermind behind the scenes far exceeds him.
This naturally leads to a "moral torture": "Do I" want to avenge Zhan Yuanzi, and to what extent should revenge be achieved?
You must know that Hong Fan saw Zhan Yuanzi die before, and the deepest emotion in his subconscious was fear.
Where can he immediately come up with an answer at this moment, "Although tens of millions of people go to me, sacrifice their lives for righteousness"?
After the fateful ceremony, Hong Fan has realized that the ghosts in the river are all "knives", and they are not real enemies.
But how much investment does it take to take revenge on the real enemy? How much is the risk? Is it worth it for me to do this?
To beοΌ or not to be?
At the time of departure, Hong Fan's answer was probably not very positive - he wanted to perfunctory himself, I will kill a few more of these five assassins with my own hands, and deal with the past.
So he first found Zeng Dodge.
[Quote from the original text:
He was not even willing to use the sand world.
ββ286γ
Why don't you want to use it?
["It was supposed to be foolproof, otherwise I could defeat him alone."] β
The bald head answered.
ββ283γ
You can't beat Zhan Yuanzi alone.
I don't use the sand world, but only use martial arts to defeat you to prove it.
Then there is Qiu Jing'an.
[Quote from the original text:
Qiu Jing'an's eyes narrowed slightly.
In the face of the ferocious fist, he did not dodge or dodge, but grabbed the big disciple who was about to fall beside him and stopped him in front of him.
For a moment, Hong Fan hesitated.
He stopped his punch to close the momentum, but his position was difficult to change, and he was slapped to the right shoulder by his opponent who was waiting for work.
The pain immediately spread, and Hong Fan coughed up blood in his mouth, but he felt refreshed.
You're a damned man!
ββ286γ
Hong Fan knew that Qiu Jing'an was also a knife, and he could vaguely feel that these ghosts wanted to get rid of the past.
Qiu Jing'an's current performance shows that he is still a villain, which makes Hong Fan think that he has a stronger reason to kill.
After killing Qiu, the anxiety and contradictions in Hong Fan's heart did not improve - he knew that he was fooling.
The big turn of emotions began to appear in the third battle.
Hong Fan didn't want to kill the innocent Duan family, but he was forced to kill them all in the end.
[Quote from the original text:
Hong Fan suddenly woke up.
He is not facing the rabble of Shunde Xing, and there is no Hong Lie and Shen Hong by his side to cover his wings and back.
Although the Duan family is a third-rate hero, there is a huge gap between it and the first-class and quasi-first-class heroes such as the Gong family and the Hong family.
Although these thirty-five people are unevenly cultivated and unevenly equipped, they are vastly different from Zhu Yiqi and Honglu Array.
But they are a whole connected by blood, and they are fighting for each other's lives and deaths.
It's like Kim Hae-hong's family.
ββ288γ
[Quote from the original text:
At this moment, sand replaces eyes.
If you can't see blood, you can go on a killing spree.
ββ288γ
Killing rings can be opened with eyes closed - hypocrisy.
The Duan family's sense of dΓ©jΓ vu like the Hong family made Hong Fan realize his hypocrisy.
[Quote from the original text:
Half an hour later, Hong Fan had a big meal, treated the wound with hot water, and lifted the lid of the water tank to drink.
He saw the face reflected in the vat.
His eyes were red and bloodshot, and his eyes were dark, as if he were following a ghost.
It's a bit like Li Heming on the last night.
ββ288γ
Li Heming once said that he sold in exchange for martial arts, and in the future, he would become a celestial man, and then make compensation.
At that time, Hong Fan was disdainful.
Also, some readers complained that Hong Fan guarded Jinhai City and didn't leave (Chapter 175), questioning me if I had such a deep relationship with Jinhai?
It's not just feelings.
Hong Fan has his own moral bottom line, and he can't accept that he will become a person who escapes from the battle, otherwise he will be the second Li Heming.
At this time, Hong Fan could no longer fool the moral torture in his heart.
I know that these five people are just five knives, and I accept self-deception, and I am essentially going down the old path of Li Heming.
So there was a development after that.
[Quote from the original text:
If I were Ao Fuwei, I wouldn't let the knife in my hand know too much. Hong Fan thought.
β¦β¦
"Where are you going?" Ye Xinghuo shouted.
"Go back to Xijing." Hong Fan said without looking back.
"How many are these?" Ye Xinghuo asked again.
"The fourth." Hong Fan replied.
"The fifth one isn't going?" Ask.
"It's too late, Sanxi County is just south of Xijing, and Qinghuai City is due north." Answer.
ββ289γ
Why don't you go?
Even if the other horsemen will arrive first, shouldn't those who are simply revengeful also rush to see the scene?
Because even if I kill the fifth person with my own hands, I can't make Hong Fan answer the moral torture in his heart - righteousness and profit, what should be done and the danger of life, how should I choose?
[Quote from the original text:
The sky is wide open.
The fields are enclosed like a prison.
He searched for the general direction in a daze, and staggered away like a lost dog.
ββ289γ
Some readers may think that Hong Fan is too sad in his heart, so he uses a mourning dog to symbolize it.
If a comrade-in-arms dies, he will not lose his home, but he will lose his "home" because he is disturbed.
Hong Fan has a sleek appearance and a moral criterion in his heart, but he rarely encounters such a test before he crosses.
But now that we have come to Dahua from a society governed by the rule of law, the test has really come.
He couldn't answer the torture in his heart for the time being, and he didn't have the foundation to stand in the world for the time being, so he became a lost dog.
Then, walking back to Xijing for three days and three nights, Hong Fan gradually figured it out.
[Quote from the original text:
"Ao Fuwei, Ao Zhiji, Ao Zhixian."
Hong Fan read the three names over again.
"Whoever sees it will be killed."
ββ289γ
[Quote from the original text:
The dark clouds are as thick as a city, and a ray of light shines through the middle.
It's like the sky is cracking.
The rain washed his body, and he came to a conclusion.
It's not that you kill too much, but you don't kill enough.
Hong Fan's heart was clear for a while.
ββ289γ
The dark clouds were broken by the light, and Hong Fan cooled his heart by killing the four assassins, and finally thought of the answer.
To beοΌ or not to be?
Righteousness comes first in profit, and even before survival.
In the past, Hong Fan gave back to his family, wanted to make firearms, and wanted to open a way for people who couldn't learn martial arts, which actually echoed his answer at this time.
One of the main purposes of this volume is to determine what kind of person Hong Fan is.
Just on the day that Hong Fan understood his heart and answered, he knew that Ao Zhixian was back and wanted to kill her.
It is this answer that makes Hong Fan no longer so interest-oriented and rejects death, so that he also empathizes with Su Peifeng, who chose to fight to the death, so he engages in the battle (Su can completely ignore it and continue to be his own pride).
So from beginning to end, it was not sadness that tormented Hong Fan.
In the early stage, it is fear, and in the later stage, it is the moral torture of the heart.
Β·Β·Β·Β·Β·Β·
This misunderstanding in this place is not the reader's problem, it's my problem.
When conceiving this paragraph, I thought that there was too much excavation of the characters' hearts and too detailed emotions, which is not the way of online articles, so I can't write like this.
When the time comes, a large section of Hong Fan's inner drama and self-analysis will definitely cause many readers to get bored, feel that the water is boring, and hinders the rhythm.
At that time, I also told the operation officer that most readers of the online article had fun watching it, and many of them even skipped reading, which was very unpleasant to analyze the characters.
Therefore, I thought about it again and again, and from the beginning of Hong Fan's return to Xijing, I tried to use white sketching techniques as much as possible, avoiding psychological descriptions and descriptions, taking Hong Fan's inner changes and self-torture as dark lines, and adding many symbols and special metaphors to hint at guidance.
For example, the reflected face like Li Heming and the crack of the sky are symbols.
For example, when circling and killing Hua'an, "like a vulture waiting to eat", and the lost dog, these are special metaphors.
My idea at the time was idealistic.
That is to say, readers who read carefully and are sensitive to the text can understand it, or even partially understand it, and they will feel that there is an aftertaste and that there is a hidden flow of emotions in these chapters.
And readers who don't like these will simply watch it as a revenge episode and it's over.
In order to make up for the feeling of coolness as much as possible, many of my descriptions of scenery convey feelings that are actually inconsistent with Hong Fan's inner torment.
He is tormenting on the inside, and the surface is the refreshing feeling of revenge and killing.
Now that I think about it, I think about the inconsistencies between the inside and the outside, and I want to do it at the same time, and I don't handle it well.
The response was not bad until the fourth or fifth day, but many readers who were caught in the middle began to speak out on the sixth and seventh days, thinking that Hong Fan was in a strange mood - Zhan Yuanzi died as for making Hong Fan so dead or alive?
So I reflected for a long time.
The conclusion is that in the future, when encountering this situation, it must be written clearly, the pen and ink can be streamlined, and in addition, symbolizing this technique is not suitable in online texts.
I will take the time to revise the previous chapters and pick out the above ones.
It wasn't handled well, it was entirely my problem.
I knew that I wasn't capable of writing serious or pure literature, and I knew that no one would read me if I tried in that direction.
But I couldn't give up my heart and write books purely to make money.
This is where the contradiction pulls on me as an author.
That's why I pay special attention to reader feedback.
Your feedback gives me an idea of what I'm doing (anchor?). And without giving up self-expression, without deviating from the basic framework of online texts.
People often see that I love alignment, but for me it's also the process of sharpening knives.
Honestly, I'm grateful for everyone's fair and non-offensive comments, both good and bad.
I think I've made rapid progress since my last book, and that's all due to the reader's lens.
Β·Β·Β·Β·Β·Β·
Finally, several readers compared Hong Jian with Zhan Yuanzi, saying that it was okay if his father died, and Hong Fan should only have a little sadness here at most.
I don't think so.
After Hong Fan crossed over at the age of thirty, it was impossible to recognize his father to a person who had not seen each other a few times a year and was dedicated to the family.
He never called Hong Jian's father from beginning to end.
For Hong Jian, Hong Fan admires it very much, but that's all.
Zhan Yuanzi is a comrade-in-arms who has passed his life, a roommate who gets along day and night, a martial friend who practices martial arts every day, and his personality is the most mature and indifferent, and his feelings are of course much deeper.
