Chapter XIX. Mr. Shaved
So that night, I somehow drunk myself. The last picture in my impression is that the sky is darkening and the moon appears in the middle of the river in the distance. I don't remember anything for the rest, and when I woke up the next day with a splitting headache, I slept soundly on my little bed. As for when Master went up the mountain to bring me home, I don't have the slightest impression, but after dark, the way down the mountain is more difficult than going up, and I don't know how Master did it.
From that day on, I knew that although I had the ability to start placing orders on my own, I still lacked experience and skills, and the only way was to practice more. In addition to memorizing the mantras, I also increased the time to practice the Yuanguang technique and watch incense, and even the soldiers and horses, which were originally released only once a day, have been released once a day in the morning and evening.
Master also fulfilled his promise, although the first order given to me stumbled, but it was successfully completed, but the treatment of ghosts was a little unsatisfactory, so even if I knew my own pounds, Master was quite satisfied with my first order.
In those days, Master took me to visit many of the people in the rivers and lakes that he said, including Master Yang Guangbi, who was proficient in feng shui, Master He Tianyuan, who was a master of public law in eastern Sichuan, Mo Langzhong, who touched his bones and broke his life, and Mr. Wang Chengqian, a master of the Tianyan Sect of Pu'an, and so on, about a dozen people. Most of them were people who fled the war in their early years and went to the south, and returned to their hometowns after liberation. Some people no longer do this craft, but only help when someone comes to the door, and some people are still active in the rivers and lakes by relying on their own skills.
Master said that the reason why they are called Jianghu is because these are the inheritors of our traditional skills, and in ancient times, they were very respected. But now that the country has changed, many people are gradually starting to disbelieve in these karmic mysteries, and we all know that if we don't continue to pass it on, there may be no successor. Master said it lightly, but it was difficult to hide the sadness in his heart. When Master took me to visit Mo Langzhong, who knew how to touch bones, he had long since stopped touching bones for a living. Instead, near the Chuqi Gate of the old city gate, a small medical hall was opened, which gave people to grasp traditional Chinese medicine, puncture acupuncture, massage meridians, etc., which can be regarded as a respected profession.
Master said that Mo Langzhong was an ancestral doctor, and he couldn't remember how many generations he had, and he was not a famous doctor, but he could cure most common diseases. However, before the liberation, Mo Langzhong's father was a famous Langzhong in ten miles and eight towns, but he himself was not famous for his medical skills, but because of his first-hand skills.
When Mo Langzhong saw me that day, maybe it was on a whim, maybe it was to show off in front of a late-born junior like me, so he asked me to be in front of him, said his birthday, and began to hold my head and press it and pinch it. It is rumored that he can judge a person's life according to his eight characters and bones, so that day, after touching my bones, he said that the back of my head is extremely high, and he is a person with excellent talents.
The implication is that I am a person who learns the Tao, will I become a great Taoist and stand at the top and be undefeated for life? I didn't believe it at the time, because when I first started, I was frustrated by my immaturity.
Master told me that these old-timers, all of whom are highly skilled, introduced you to each other, just for you to have more contacts in the future, people are willing to see you today because they have sold your master's face, you will have to visit and walk around more in the future, and if you encounter problems that you cannot solve in the future, the advice given to you by each of them will be precious.
I nodded, taking Master's words to heart, and it turned out that in the days that followed, these seniors and their disciples had indeed been of great help to me.
At the end of 1965, it wasn't long before the New Year would be celebrated. Although the living standards of ordinary people are not rich, because of the lack of desire, everyone's happiness is relatively high. During that time, many families put up lights and prepared for the New Year. Master's house didn't look like the smallest of the old houses in that row, but because it was closest to the corner, it didn't do much to get used to being poor on weekdays, so it still looked a little bleak. Fortunately, the surrounding neighborhoods are all kind people, knowing that Master and I rely on this craft to make a living on weekdays, and many families have sent us rice and oil, so that our master and apprentice will not have a cold New Year.
Then, on this day, Master actually bought two lanterns from outside and went home and hung them at the door with me. But the day after the lantern was hung, a guest came to visit the house, but he was looking for me.
I didn't know this man, but as soon as he saw me, he called out my name, the same name I had before I became a teacher. I was wondering, but he told me that his surname was Ma, and that he was an old acquaintance of my father, a friend who had been in the army and fought together when he was young. He also said that he had seen me when I was a child, but I was too young to remember.
Uncle Ma's sudden visit, I was a little caught off guard, in those years, most of the people were still simple, although there were occasional liars and thieves, but they were very few, I thought that there was nothing that could be plotted by others, plus Uncle Ma was able to tell a lot about my family's situation when I was a child, as well as my father's affairs, so I never doubted whether he was my father's friend.
Uncle Ma said that at that time, after he and my father joined the army and left Sichuan, they were divided into different units, and when we met again, it was already after returning to my hometown, and my father came back a few years earlier than him, and later he and my father were arrested in the same batch. It was a period of time that I don't want to think about, because in my eyes, my father was an honest and good citizen, but because when the state banned some organizations, it regarded my father's incense hall with the prefix of the year as a three-to-one pot, but my father was not able to survive, but Uncle Ma was released from prison more than two years after my father's death.
Later, Uncle Ma wanted to find some former brothers and comrades-in-arms, but he didn't find any of them, when he was looking for my father, he knew that my father had a half-brother, so he found my uncle's teahouse, and then I learned that my father had died, and learned that my mother had remarried, and I worshipped the Taoist priest to do the master's business.
Uncle Ma told me that when he knew about these things, it was already two years ago. And I came to see me today because I had encountered something these days, and I asked around for people who could help, and suddenly remembered that my second uncle said that I was learning the Daofa, so he came to me. After he finished speaking, he scratched his head a little embarrassedly and smiled, looking very honest.
When Master saw that the old man from my family was coming, he quickly greeted him enthusiastically. I briefly introduced my master, and then asked Uncle Ma to tell me the ins and outs of the matter, so that I could weigh whether I was capable of taking care of it.
Uncle Ma said that after the first release, there was no wharf on the rivers and lakes, so he had to find an individual livelihood, so over the years, he has been looking at the vicinity of Longmen, occupying a small, narrow aisle between two buildings, building a shed on it, becoming a shaver, cutting hair for 1 cent, a small business, and not making any money, so he can only live.
He used to have an old customer, generally speaking, he would come to his stall once a month to cut his hair, he was an old man in his sixties, and he always cut it very short, he was a particularly kind and kind person, I heard that he was also a soldier before, a shell exploded next to him, and he suffered a little skin trauma, but his ears were deaf and his hearing was weak. The old man loves to laugh very much, and every time he comes to cut his hair, he always smiles and points to his head, which means Uncle Ma understands. Because the other party is an old man, every time Uncle Ma cuts the uncle's hair, he will give him a free shave and pick his ears. But just two months ago, it began to rain heavily that evening, and I felt that no one would come out to cut my hair in this kind of weather, so I planned to close the stall early.
Because he was an old customer, he was just about to close the stall, so he regarded it as a help, so Uncle Ma also happily cut the uncle's hair, and when the uncle left, he stuffed the money to Uncle Ma and turned away. Uncle Ma just put the money in his pocket, and was about to say to the uncle, it is raining so heavily, or I will send you home, I have an umbrella here. But when he was about to speak, he found that the uncle had disappeared into the rain.
Uncle Ma emphasized that his shaving stall was at the mouth of the alley, and there were long stairs up and down as far as he could see, but in this blink of an eye, the old man was gone, and it stands to reason that a person of this age has no reason to walk so fast. And at this time, Uncle Ma remembered that when he shaved his uncle's head just now, the clothes on his body were dry and not wet, but it was raining so heavily and he didn't bring an umbrella, what was going on?
But for a while, Uncle Ma couldn't think of why, so he didn't think about it, and when he was counting how much he had received today, he found that the money that the old man stuffed into himself just now was a 5,000 yuan legal tender issued by the government of the Republic of China before liberation.
