Chapter 26: The Beginning of Life
It has been decades since Kronos obtained the [Vial of Life] from Gaia.
Not far from Mother Earth's abode, the gods sought a great plain. They gathered here, trying to create a variety of different lives with the help of the source liquid flowing from the artifact.
Their choice of materials is very random. The mud and sand at the bottom of the river, the fallen leaves beside the trees, the earth and rocks on the ground, and the clouds in the sky. The gods molded them into their desired shapes and fused them with the divine fluid. If their creation conforms to the basic rules of the existence of life, then a species is born.
Then, all you need to do is use this as a template, and thousands of creations of the same kind will appear.
However, it's easier said than done. The gods, who had no experience in creation, tried many kinds of constructions, but most of them failed. For them, how to make the first one is the biggest problem.
Finally, in the process of exploration, when nearly a hundred years have passed, a total of 8,400 new species have appeared on the earth.
In the heavens, on the earth, in the sea, each true god has made several to a greater or lesser extent. Although there were no souls at this time, they were already living creatures from a biological point of view.
"It's finally done."
Looking at a strange-shaped 'fish' in front of him, the Ocean God Lord wrapped it with divine power to maintain its life.
For the first time in thousands of years since his ascension to heaven, he looked tired. Although his divine power was still abundant, Okeanos felt powerless.
"Mortis, my daughter, let it be the end."
Shaking his head at the young and beautiful goddess beside him, Okeanos didn't intend to continue.
"Good father, this is indeed the limit of our ability."
The goddess Metis was a little regretful. Although according to her idea, life swimming in the sea does not need limbs, but when it comes to practice, neither of them knows what to do with this 'fish'.
"It's not over yet, Okeanos, we still have one species left to build."
Looking at his former eldest brother and niece, Kronos had not changed much.
Without him, the god-king didn't have any life he wanted to create, and most of the time he had only given ideas to other gods over the years. After all, the Divine Mountain was so big, and he was not prepared to let an existence without divinity enter his Divine Palace.
"These simple lives are already so difficult to make, and creating life in the image of the gods cannot be done for another five hundred years."
Shaking his head, the goddess of raw water, Tessis, had lost hope for this.
"Even if the Mother God is willing to make a move, the [Life Vase] is only an artifact of the Mother God after all, and she does not really have the priesthood of [Life]. [Plants] and [Earth] are very compatible, but there is probably nothing the Mother Goddess can think of as a living creature similar to the gods. β
Only if you have tried it yourself do you know how difficult it is to create life.
In the original trajectory, the god of souls, Iapetus, created the Golden Humans and the Silver Humans, and some say that Gaia created the Golden Humans. But the myth of how they created man is only passing by. No one knows how much effort these two gods put into it.
The goddess of raw water secretly swore that when these creatures died, she would never create life herself, and these complicated things would be left to others.
His brows furrowed slightly, and Kronos was also a little difficult. He now also finds that his previous ideas are still too simple.
It seems that if you want to give birth to the god-like creation you envisioned, you have to let the professionals do it.
Thinking of what the goddess of the law had said about the spirit world, Kronos secretly made a decision.
"Iapotos, my brother, I'm afraid I'm going to have to trouble you again."
Turning to look at the God of Speech not far away, the God King's smile was very kind, but his tone was unquestionable:
"The creation is coming to an end, and it's time to invite His Highness Ryan to come. In addition to the soul-giving thing, I also have a lot of things I would like to ask about the creation of this last species. β
"Your Majesty the God-King, I thinkβhuh?"
The god of remarks who was caught again was about to refuse, but the next moment, including him, several gods present looked not far away.
The space shook for a while, and under the gaze of the three powerful divine powers, Ryan's figure quietly emerged.
"Don't bother, I'm already here."
Reaching out to smooth out the spatial ripples he had caused, Ryan said with a smile.
"His Royal Highness Ryan's control of fate is really amazing."
Tessis sighed. If it weren't for the fact that Ryan rarely walks around in this world, she would have wanted to give full play to the traditional arts of the ocean god system and introduce a goddess to this most ancient god.
Unfortunately, unlike the other gods of Kaos, the ancient god who lived in the underworld did not seem to have much interest in feasting and entertainment. In all these years, at least, Tessis had never seen him in the palace of any god.
Of course, if Ryan knew what the other party was thinking, he could only say that it was not that he was not interested in entertainment, but that he was not interested in entertainment now.
At a time when music and dance weren't even invented, didn't Ryan go to the shrines of other gods just to drink two glasses of shoddy drinks?
"Haha, since the Lord of the Spirit Realm has come, it seems that our final creation is almost complete."
Although the corners of Kronos' eyes twitched when he saw the spatial fluctuations, he still laughed to welcome Ryan's arrival.
After so many years, Kronos has gradually come to accept the facts. He was no longer as gritted his teeth when he heard Ryan's name as he had once in front of Themis.
"Yes, I created humanity for that very purpose."
Nodding, Ryan glanced at the strange-looking 'fish' in front of the Ocean God Lord, revealing an interested look.
"Is this the life created by His Highness Okeanos, it looks really strange."
Hearing this, the face of the Ocean God Lord became a little unnatural. Just as Ouranos hated giants, 'ugly rejection' was a normal phenomenon for the gods today.
"Ahem, this is indeed the creation of the Lord of the Open Seas and his daughter, but it is not yet perfect. If His Highness Ryan is interested, he can also help with the repair. β
"Oh well. The wise Metis, who has long admired the great name. β
Nodding slightly, Ryan greeted the goddess beside the Ocean Lord, and Metis smiled back.
He knew what Kronos meant, and the other party wanted to further confirm his attainments in the field of life.
After all, hearing is false, seeing is believing. But that's exactly what Ryan wants. At least the first humans, he's still interested in getting his hands dirty.
Stretching out his right hand, a verdant glow emerged in Ryan's palm. Although he only has the authority of life related to spirituality, this part is one with the rest of the [Life Vase], and in terms of attainments in the field of life, Gaia may not be able to match him.
What's more, for Ryan, creating life is a bit of a copying homework.
With the light of life in his hand, Ryan gently wiped it on the 'fish'. As the light entered the body, the bone spurs that had been transparent disappeared, and the twisted spine was straightened.
The 'arms' that fluctuate the current have become fins, the burrs on the surface have turned into scales, and the body has become more fluid structure.
Almost in the blink of an eye, the original Cthulhu 'fish' had become a normal animal, and the three gods of the ocean system around them were dumbfounded.
If the previous 'fish' hadn't been created by themselves, they wouldn't have felt any better. But it is with a little experience that they can really understand the subtlety of this hand.
Seeing this scene, even Kronos on the side was a little surprised. He had never believed in the idea that the world was created in seven days, and all living beings were created in the fifth or sixth day. The God-King thought that Ryan would be able to spend a few days making this 'fish' look better, and it would be enough to be the master of creating god-like life. But he never expected that he didn't even use a minute.
"In a hurry, that's all it can be."
Still not very happy with his work, Ryan didn't make any further moves.
He looked at the God-King on the side. He smiled and said, "Fate has guided me here precisely for the birth of mankind. Now that everything is ready, let's start making man. β
