Chapter 31: Civilization
It doesn't seem to be aware of the comer, and it doesn't seem to care. The sacred hymn still echoed through the hall, but this time, Cohen heard it.
It is not the language of the gods, nor is it the language of human beings who have listened to the word of God and simplified it from it. Cohen had never heard a tone like this, beautiful and mysterious, but not like a sound that could be made with his vocal cords. He felt like he was undergoing a baptism, and his soul seemed to be transparent and holy.
Faintly, a sense of longing came from the heart. It is more like a yearning for 'completeness'.
But as a masterpiece of God, Cohen didn't know what was wrong with him.
"May God forgive me."
Kneeling on the ground, Cohen prayed sincerely.
It was the first time he had heard it, but Cohen easily understood the meaning of the poetry of the creature in front of him, she was praising a supreme being. He caused the month of July to rise from the western mountains and let the spiritual light shine through the underworld. He is the Great One above time, the King of eternity.
After a while, I don't know how long it was, but in the empty hall, as the last byte fell, it fell silent again.
In the silence, Cohen heard footsteps from far and near. He looked up, it was the mysterious presence that had chanted poetry before.
He had never seen anything like it. The white robe was woven from unknown things, and did not resemble the stems and leaves of a plant at all. The hood hung slightly, enveloping the appearance of the comer, and although Cohen didn't feel that he had any appreciative ability, he still felt that it was better than the costumes of the gods on the sacred mountain.
This was an idea that should not have been, but the thought that the other person might also have something to do with God convinced him again.
God, naturally, can do better than another god.
"You're human?"
Under the hood, a soft, distant voice came. It was still the same strange language as before, and although he had never heard it, Cohen could understand the meaning.
In his senses, it seems that this language is not 'heard' by his own ears, but conveyed to his heart in another way.
"I am, Your Highness." Respectfully responding to the inquiries that existed in front of him, although he didn't know if the other party was a god or not, Cohen still used the honorific title of God.
"Your Highness, I didn't mean to break into here, just now, I just planned to leave-"
"I know."
The man in white in front of him interrupted Cohen's explanation.
"You came here through dreams, human. Seven hundred years ago, the Lord brought sleep to the creatures of the earth. First there were plants, then animals, then you humans. ”
"Eventually, even the gods will learn to sleep. And you, as the first intelligent being to enter the dream, were allowed to cross the seven levels of the spiritual realm and set foot in the temple of the holy mountain. ”
"—God sleeps, too?"
was stunned for a moment, and then a little frightened. Cohen's attention was completely absorbed by the first half of the sentence, and he couldn't imagine that God could be forced into a 'dream', which was incomprehensible.
"Not what you think."
Shaking her head, Evangeline glanced at the mortal in front of her and explained:
"Like water, food, and breath, they are an integral part of all things, but God can choose to accept or reject them, and so is sleep."
"I see, thank you for answering my questions."
The mood calmed down a little, Cohen said respectfully.
God can refuse, which is in line with the simple logic of the golden man. As for whether the other party lied to him, humans at this time did not know what deception was.
"I don't know your name yet, Your Highness. By God's grace, I have come here to see me. When I return to my clan, I will be sure to ...... for you Build temples with your 'Lord' so that mankind can sing the praises of your greatness, day and night. ”
Cohen didn't look up, but he felt a gaze look at him for a moment under the white hood.
"I am Evangeline, the angel who sings for the Lord, the embodiment of the rhythm of the spiritual realm. As you can imagine, I am indeed a 'god' by the outside world. ”
Shaking her head slightly, Evangeline said lightly:
"But the Lord does not need your temple, nor your faith, nor do I need them."
"If you want, do it for me."
Slightly stunned, Cohen didn't expect to get such a reply. But since God has a request, as a golden human being, he will naturally do so.
As for not believing, Cohen easily accepted it. In fact, limited by the imperfections of the golden human soul, the meager power of faith is not noticed by God. In this case, there are gods who don't even want mortals to sacrifice to them.
"To serve you is the purpose of my existence, Your Highness."
As he had done every time he had received an oracle in the past, Cohen replied respectfully.
"Okay, I want you to do it very simply. Go up and make a note of what you can remember, that's all. ”
The cold voice fell, and Evangeline pointed to the stone slab on the central stone platform.
Following the direction pointed by the 'God of Rhythm', Cohen clearly saw that in the middle of the main hall, two statues with wings on their backs were kneeling on the ground, their hands held high, and together they held up a stone platform.
Above the stone platform, a quaint stone slab is floating there. Between the ups and downs, Cohen vaguely saw that something seemed to be written on it, but when he looked closely, he couldn't see it really.
For some reason, Cohen vaguely felt that the faceless god in front of him seemed to resemble a stone statue. If the two beings holding up the stone platform had folded their wings and put on their hoods, the one on the left would be exactly the same as her.
“...... Yes, Your Highness. ”
Gathering his mind, Cohen stood up and slowly approached the stone platform. At first, he felt as if he was doing useless work, because no matter how 'close' he was, he still couldn't see the contents of the slate. Time passed minute by minute, until at one point, he finally saw two symbols on the slate.
It was a kind of writing he had never seen before, fluctuating, swirling and disappearing. But for some reason, Cohen just understood what it meant.
‘...... Civilization...... Years? ’
In the next moment, endless knowledge rushed into Cohen's heart, and in the flood of information, he almost lost his mind. Some he could understand, some he couldn't, and when these things were mixed together, he felt that his soul was going to be torn apart.
It seemed like a moment, and it seemed like a long time had passed, and in a trance, Cohen felt himself jump through a colorful tunnel, and then suddenly woke up from the tree.
"Ho-"
Subconsciously covered his head, but Cohen found that the indoctrination of knowledge had stopped. Fragmentation was mixed up in his mind, but Cohen found a lot of useful things in it.
"Civilization, what is it?"
Silently reciting the words that the tablet had first imprinted in his mind, Cohen knew the 'years', and legend had it that it was the power of the god-king and the god-queen. But 'civilization' was something he had never heard of.
"What's wrong with you, King?"
"It's nothing, it's just a little uncomfortable."
Cohen's anomaly was seen by passers-by, and in the face of other people's inquiries, Cohen casually coped with it.
Today's experience is unforgettable, but think about the knowledge in his head, maybe it is the treasure that God has given him to spread to all mankind.
So Cohen stood up and walked towards the temple that was being built.
Before, he was amazed by the magnificence and beauty of the temple, and felt that it was already the pinnacle of human skill.
But now, he feels like he's not doing enough.
God gave him knowledge, and he would not take it for himself. He will sort them out one by one and teach them to every golden human. Only the skills that come from God can better serve God.
Walking on the dirt-compacted avenue, Cohen was a little excited. What he didn't know, however, was that at this very moment, the king of the gods, who had sent an oracle to build a temple, was watching him from the top of Mount Odils.
From before he fell asleep, when he fell asleep, and after he woke up, the god-king had been silently watching him. He watched as Cohen excitedly told the humans around him about his previous experiences, teaching them all sorts of knowledge, and talking about the stone tablet that contained mysteries.
"Human ......"
"So, what exactly do you want?"
Shaking his head, Kronos turned around and returned to his bedchamber.
