Chapter 25: The Question Is Not Who, The Problem Is How?

Harry was awakened by the sound in his head and the pain in his arm.

It felt like someone had shoved thousands of sharp blades into the muscles of his arm, and the fragments of bone grew and inevitably cut his flesh open.

Now, the pain of being taken away by Lockhart is doubling back!

But he cared more about the sound that kept echoing in his head than the pain—something he had almost forgotten after so long—and the monster he was wiping his head with a sponge ball.

"Go away!" He waved his hand in a panic, but quickly recognized who the monster was—Dobby.

The house-elf who had caused him a warning from the Ministry of Magic.

Dobby reminded Harry Potter several times. Ah, sir, why don't you heed Dobby's warning? Harry Potter didn't catch the train, so why not go home? Dobby said sadly.

Now, Harry knew who was going to kill him—

"You did it? You're the one who sealed the wall and didn't let us pass! You almost got me and Ron expelled! Annoyed, he said, "You'd better get out of the way while my bones aren't growing, Dobby, or I'll strangle you." ”

"Dobby is used to the threat of death. Dobby hears it five times a day at home. Dobby said nonchalantly, but he looked a little pitiful. Harry's annoyance subsided a lot.

"Why are you wearing that, Dobby?" He looked at the "clothes" Dobby was wearing, or a pillowcase that hadn't been washed in decades and was dirtier than a rag.

"This, sir?" Dobby said, tugging at his pillowcase, "This symbolizes the slavery status of the house-elves, sir." Dobby can only be set free when Dobby's master gives him clothes to wear. The family was very careful not to give Dobby a pair of socks, sir, because then Dobby would be free and leave their house forever. ”

Hearing this, Harry immediately felt sympathy, but the next moment his sympathy immediately dissipated.

"Harry Potter must come home! Dobby thought his Bludger would be able to—"

"Your Bludger? What do you mean by that, your Bludger? You let that Bludger kill me? ”

"Not to kill you, sir, definitely not to kill you!" Dobby is horrified and says, "Dobby wants to save Harry Potter's life!" It's better to be sent home with a serious injury than to stay here, sir. Dobby only wanted Harry Potter to get a little injured and be sent home! ”

"Oh, that's all?" Harry asked angrily and sarcastically, "I guess you wouldn't tell me why you want me to be sent home in pieces, would you?" ”

"Oh, if only Harry Potter knew! What does he mean to us lowly, enslaved little people in the wizarding world! Dobby has not forgotten the time when the power of the man who can't even be named was at his strongest, sir! People treat us house-elves like pests, sir! Of course, they still treat Dobby like that, sir. He admitted, wiping his face from the pillowcase again.

"But on the whole, since you defeated the man whose name you can't even mention, the lives of our people have improved considerably. Harry Potter survived, the Dark Lord's mana was broken, and it was a new beginning, sir. For those of us who believe that the dark days never end, Harry Potter shines like a beacon of hope, sir...... Now, at Hogwarts, something terrible is about to happen, maybe it has happened, and Dobby can't let Harry Potter stay here, because history is about to repeat itself, and the Chamber of Secrets has been opened again-"

"So, there's a secret room?" Harry whispered, "And- you said it had been opened before?" Tell me, Dobby! ”

"Ah, sir, don't ask any more, don't ask poor Dobby." The elf stammered, eyes as big as brass bells in the dark, "There's a conspiracy here, and Harry Potter can't stay here while it's happening." Come home, Harry Potter. Go home. Harry Potter must not meddle in this, sir, it's too dangerous—"

"Who's that, Dobby? Who opened the Chamber of Secrets? Who opened it last time? ”

"Dobby can't say, sir, Dobby can't say, Dobby definitely can't say!" The elf screamed, "Go home, Harry Potter, go home!" ”

"I'm not going anywhere!" Harry said irritably, "One of my best friends is Muggle-born, and if the Chamber of Secrets does open, she'll bear the brunt of it-"

"Harry Potter is willing to risk his life for his friends!" Dobby groaned sadly and joyfully, "How noble! How brave! But he had to keep himself, he had to, Harry Potter mustn't—"

Dobby froze suddenly, his bat-like ears trembling. Harry heard it, too. Footsteps could be heard in the hallway outside.

"Dobby must go!" The elf was frightened and gasped. There was a loud pop, and Harry's fist suddenly loosened, leaving only air inside. He fell back into bed, his eyes looking at the dark door of the hospital room, and the footsteps were getting closer.

Dumbledore then retreated into the room. He wore a long woolen dressing gown and a nightcap. He carried one end of a sculptural object with both hands. A second later, Professor McGonagall appeared, carrying the thing's feet. Together, they put it on the bed.

"Call Ms. Pomfrey." Dumbledore whispered as Professor McGonagall hurried past Harry's bedside and walked out. Harry lay motionless, pretending to be asleep. He heard someone talking eagerly, and Professor McGonagall sped in again, followed by Madam Pomfrey, who had put a jacket over her pajamas. Harry heard a gasp.

"What's going on?" Miss Pomfrey asked Dumbledore in a whisper, leaning over to examine the statue.

"Another attack," Dumbledore said, "McGonagall found him on the stairs. ”

"He's got a bunch of grapes with him," Professor McGonagall said, "and we guess he wanted to sneak out here to see Potter." ”

Harry's stomach twitched hard. Slowly, carefully, he lifted his body a few inches so he could see the statue on the bed. A ray of moonlight fell on the stunned face.

It's Colin Creevey. His eyes were wide open, his hands were stretched out to his chest, and he held his camera.

"Petrified?" Ms. Pomfrey asked in a whisper.

"Yes," Professor McGonagall said, "shuddered at the thought of it...... Who knows what would have happened if Albus hadn't happened to come downstairs to serve hot chocolate......"

The three of them looked at Colin intently. Dumbledore then leaned forward and pulled the camera from between Colin's stiff fingers.

"Could he have taken a picture of the attacker?" Professor McGonagall asked eagerly.

Dumbledore didn't answer. He pried open the back cover of the camera.

"OMG!" Madam Pomfrey exclaimed.

A hot steam hissed out of the camera. Even Harry, who was three beds away, could smell the pungent smell of burning plastic.

"Melted," said Miss Pomfrey in astonishment, "all melted......

"What does that mean, Albus?" Professor McGonagall asked eagerly.

"That means," said Dumbledore, "that the Chamber of Secrets has indeed been opened again. ”

Ms. Pomfrey covered her mouth with her hand. Professor McGonagall stared blankly at Dumbledore.

"But Albus...... You must know...... Who? ”

"It's not a question of who," Dumbledore said, looking at Colin, "the question is, how......"

Harry could see the look on Professor McGonagall's face in the shadows, and knew that she, like himself, didn't understand Dumbledore's words.
