Chapter 73: The Forbidden Forest
The vicinity of the Forbidden Forest seemed to be darker than inside the castle, and the entire sky was covered by a huge black cloth, and there were no stars or moon to be seen, and there was no light at all.
Cyrus took out his wand and muttered, "Fluorescent flicker!" Then a thin light came out of the wand's head. He could have been a little brighter, even to illuminate the entire forest, but that would have been too much of a striking. Now it's just enough for them to see if there are spiders on the road.
Harry did the same.
"Good idea," Ron said enviously, "I want my wand to shine too, but you know, if you don't get it right, it will explode......"
"Don't worry, I think Mr. Weasley and Mrs. Weasley will buy you a new one during your summer vacation. When the time comes, you can tell that the wand was broken while looking for the heir. Sellers reassured.
"Good idea, Mr. Riddle!" Ron's eyes lit up, he still hadn't told his family about the wand being broken.
Harry tapped them on the shoulder and pointed to the grass. Two lone spiders were scurrying away from the light of their wands and into the shadows of the dark trees.
"Sure enough, the spiders have entered the Forbidden Forest."
"Well," Ron sighed, as if he had to settle for the worst, "I'm ready." Let's go. β
So, they walked into the Forbidden Forest, where Fangya was bouncing around them, sniffing the roots and leaves along the way.
In the light of Cyrus and Harry's wands, they followed the spiders that kept crawling along the path.
They walked for about twenty minutes, and no one spoke, but listened attentively to see if there was anything but the breaking of branches and the rustling of leaves. Then, the trees grew thicker and thicker, and the stars overhead were no longer visible. The wands of the two men shimmered faintly in the endless darkness, like two weak fireflies.
"They're off the road." Sellers whispered, his arm outstretched, the cold light shining on the ground.
Harry paused, trying to see where the spider was moving, but beyond the glimmer of light was darkness that could not be seen. He had never been so deep in the Forbidden Forest before.
"The Forbidden Forest is dangerous enough, but at least Hagrid walks around a lot on the road, and there are horsemen on the road, but once you deviate from the path in the woods, you don't know what you will encounter." Sellers reminded.
His words made Ron even more uneasy.
Harry also vividly recalled the last time he entered the woods, Hagrid had warned him not to stray from the forest path. But Hagrid was a long way away, probably sitting in Azkaban's cell, and he had said he was going to follow the spider.
"Let's go, I trust Hagrid!" Harry insisted that, in fact, there was no other way to trust Hagrid now.
"Hagrid can be trusted, but ......" Sellers pursed his lips and walked forward.
"What do you think?" Harry asked Ron. He could make out Ron's eyes, the glimmer of his wand reflected in his pupils, and Ron looked speechless.
"I'm just trying to say that maybe Mr. Riddle is right, it's not that I don't believe Hagrid, it's just that Hagrid probably doesn't think the Forbidden Forest is that dangerous." Ron shuddered, "But it's not the same for us. He felt that the fire dragon was playing with him when it bit him. But do you know how long my hand was swollen after being bitten by Nobel? β
"But Mr. Riddle is gone." Harry reluctantly said, "Think of Hermione, we have to save her!" β
"Okay!" Ron took a breath, "For Hermione!" β
So, they followed the shadow of Cyrus into the bushes.
The path of the Forbidden Forest is not easy to follow, it is inaccessible, full of roots and stumps blocking the way, and to make matters worse, the vision at night is so poor that they can barely see the obstacles on the road.
After a while, they noticed that the ground seemed to be sloping downward, even though the trees were still as dense as before.
"We walked for at least half an hour."
He and Harry's clothes were dangling from low branches and vines, and they looked a little awkward, except for Cyrus who walked all the way as if he were walking on the Quidditch pitch.
But at least they didn't encounter any other dangers along the way.
"These spiders are quite smart, at least they will avoid danger." Ron said, swallowing.
"Orβnothing else dares to come near here." Cyrus's eyes sparkled.
There's no doubt that this little area is already the territory of the Eight-Eyed Spider, and no Fantastic Beast wouldn't want to come here and be reduced to dinner for those guys.
"What? Don't scare me! Ron said tremblingly.
At this moment, Tooth suddenly became agitated, and curled its tail in fear, and it could not make a sound, only whimpering, but it still made a lot of noise, and it scared both Harry and Ron out of their bodies.
"What's that?" Ron asked aloud, glancing into the darkness as he grabbed Harry's elbow hard.
"There's something moving there," Harry gasped, "listen...... Like a big guy. β
They listened carefully. Some distance to their right, the big thing was carving a way out of the bushes, breaking countless branches.
They stood there, waiting in horror, the darkness seemed to oppress their eyeballs. Sellers wasn't afraid at all, because he knew what was there.
"Okay, there's nothing anywhere, it's not a monster, it's the car you drove when you went to school."
As soon as Cyrus finished speaking, a dazzling light lit up to their right, dazzling in the darkness.
Both Harry and Ron raised their hands to shield their eyes. Tooth roared and tried to escape, but he tripped over a thorn and rolled on the ground.
"Be quiet!" Cyrus gave it another spell to calm it down.
The car drove up.
"Car?" Ron's voice choked up a little with a sigh of relief, "It's really our car!" β
Harry and Ron followed Cyrus, stumbling towards the light, tripping along the way. A moment later, they came to a clearing.
Mr. Weasley's car was parked in the middle of a dense circle of trees, topped by dense foliage, empty and shiningly glowing from its headlights. As Ron walked towards it with his mouth wide open, it slowly moved towards him, like a large turquoise dog greeting its owner.
"So it's been here all along!" Ron said happily, walking around the car, "Look at it, the woods have made it wild......"
"In the Muggle world, it's no different from being scrapped. But this car seems to have undergone a bit of a magical makeover, and to be honest, it can still be driven. "Sellers was actually interested.
The existence of the Magic Modified Vehicle illustrates that technology and magic are not completely insulated. Maybe he could transform something else, like the Gatling Curse?
He shuddered, and that was too evil.
The wings of the car were scratched and covered in mud. Tooth didn't seem to be interested in it in the slightest; It followed Harry without a single step, and looked cautiously at Cyrus, the terrible wizard who rewarded him with two spells!
Harry could feel it shivering.
Now, Harry and Ron's breathing slowly calmed down again.
"We thought it was going to attack us!" Ron said, leaning back on the car and patting it, "I never knew where it went!" β
Harry wasn't in the mood to bother with the car right now, though. He squinted his eyes and continued to search for the spiders on the lighted ground, but they all scrambled away from the glare of the headlights and ran away.
"We're gone." He said he wanted to find the spider more than a car, "Let's go, don't waste time here." β
But Ron suddenly stopped talking and didn't move.
His eyes were fixed on Harry's back, ten feet above the ground, his face was grim and his fear was written vividly.
"Looks like we don't have to look for it." Cyrus raised his wand and saw several huge eight-eyed spiders staring greedily at them.
He wanted to destroy them directly, but after thinking about it, he still didn't make a move.
Instead, he watched Harry and Ron be lifted by their massive jaws and suspended in mid-air, and he himself gave up his resistance and let the monsters drag them into the dark bushes.
