The background of the book and recent updates
To be honest, I can't tell if the theme of "Taishang Chapter" is classified as "Oriental Fantasy" or "Classical Xianxia", as if it can be completely accurate. The subject matter of the novel is inherently diverse, and it is inappropriate to label it as a certain category, but it is most appropriate and close to calling it "ancient mythology".
It is a story that takes place in a fictional fantasy world, and if we must discuss the chronological background, it should be based on the period of the Five Emperors of ancient China. But this is just a kind of reference and insinuation, and reprocessing and interpretation based on this, and the story background of "Taishang Chapter" cannot be equated with the real era of the Five Emperors.
What is described in the book is the unfolding of the fictional world, which is only a mythological novel rather than a historical fiction. For example, some surnames, utensils, and people's language habits are difficult to correspond rigorously to that era in history, otherwise they cannot be written in the way that modern people are accustomed to reading.
But since such a story is set in the background, there are some issues that must be paid attention to, and some principles that must be followed. The era of ancient mythology is the embryonic period of human civilization, and Tang poems and Song poems will not appear in the story, and I will try my best to avoid using some idioms with clear allusions.
There are some things that we now seem to have left behind by the ancients, and it did not appear at all in the era of ancient mythology, and if we fabricate such a background, we should pay more attention to follow this principle, otherwise we will deviate from what this book wants to express. In the same way, there is no "Buddhism" or "Taoism" in this era, so it is impossible for the characters in the book to directly quote the Buddhist and Taoist classics we see today, as well as the contents of various classics. Anything involved can only be an expression of the source and germination of these classics.
I'm a novelist, and of course I like to read novels, and I read good or popular novels. In the process of reading many works, there has always been a feeling that is purely personal. No matter where the story is set in any place, what era, or ancient or otherworldly, many fantasy or fairy tales novels inexplicably come out of Buddhism, Taoism, Buddhism, and the Hundred Schools of Thought, but it is difficult to explain how they came out in the background of such a worldly world.
For example, when I read "The List of Gods", this sense of confusion is particularly strong.
And some works describe a fairly long time span, often thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of years, as if the pattern is grand. But the protagonist is constantly upgrading, but the background of the entire world world remains strangely static, even if 100,000 years have passed, the era of the world world in the book is still that era, and there is almost no relatively reasonable dynamic process of civilization evolution, which is somewhat confusing.
Such feelings and confusion may be the origin of my writing of this "Taishang Chapter". It begins in an era of fictional mythology that is not rigorous in terms of historical research, but it can be determined that there was no Buddhist or Taoist practice at that time. And the end of this era is the source of the emergence of the hundred schools of thought in later generations. Of course, there are a lot of difficulties with writing like this, and I'm trying a new style.
Regular readers may be concerned about whether the background or "setting system" of this story is related to my previous series of works? Of course, it can be with or without, depending on the perspective from which it is interpreted. It's both a new interpretation and a lot of familiar imprints.
As for the recent update of this book, I'm afraid I have to say sorry in advance! Because I have something to do with my home at the end of May, I am afraid that there is no guarantee that the stable update will be restored, and it will be back to normal by the beginning of June. Actually, I didn't plan to open the book so early, and I wanted to wait a little longer, but on the one hand, since I have already said that the new book will be released in late May, it will be counted when I speak, and on the other hand, I didn't expect that this time will be so busy at the end of May.
I will try to find time to write, and I also invite the majority of book friends Haihan. The last reminder is that there will be a new book promotion lottery of "Taishang Chapter" at the starting point in mid-June, and all book friends who already have "Xu Gongzi Shengzhi" can win awards as long as they participate. Thank you for your continued support!
