5 Chapter V
Bruce kept a sweet smile and talked to the director of Grimm's Orphanage.
The dean was a serious lady with her hair tightly coiled in a bun at the back of her head, and every strand of hair was held in place with oil.
She held her square lens with one hand.
"Well, Mr. Wayne, to tell you the truth, I have only been in charge of this orphanage for less than a month. But I care about my children no less than anyone else. β
"It's good for the children to be able to visit them often."
Bruce smiled and nodded, but his mind couldn't help but fly to the conversation that had taken place.
Compared with the dean lady, who has only taken over the orphanage for less than a month, Batman may have a deeper understanding of this orphanage.
Last night, Robin tapped on the computer to look up the information and finally came to a somewhat surprising conclusion.
"The Green Orphanage, the one where Theodore is located, has changed three directors in two months."
Batman looked at him and motioned for him to continue.
Tim pressed a button on the bat computer, and the files on the screen automatically scrolled and turned to the pages.
"The first dean, because of the suck. Overdosed and died in his office. β
"He was usually negligent in his duties, and the staff at the orphanage thought that he had left his post without permission until the smell was difficult to hide, and his body was not found. Because he is too fat and has too much fat, the cracks on the floor of the office are still ...... Evil. β
Pouting, Tim put down his coffee cup and skipped over the section that clearly affected his appetite and went straight to the next person's file.
The second dean soon took over, and he simply abandoned his predecessor's office and found a new house to move inβvery sensible, it seems that he was not poisoned. Suck up the brain. β
But half a month later, the second term died in the gut of infighting. When the police department investigated, it was discovered that the dean had been deeply involved in human trafficking for many years, and had supplied a lot of "goods" to Heibang when he was in other orphanages. β
Batman maintained a position with his arms folded in front of his chest, not letting up.
"What about the third?"
"This is the current lady of the dean, who is very serious, thrifty, and respectable. She has been in office for more than a month and has not noticed any problems so far. β
"When did Theodore come to this orphanage?"
"βthat's where the drama comes in, bat."
Tim leaned back, his weight resting on the back of his chair. With his knees in front of his chest, he kicked forward, sliding the wheelchair backwards a few meters, the back of the chair seemed to have eyes, and accelerated in a left turn, stopping smoothly in front of Batman.
"Two and a half months ago, Theodore was found by guards at the gate of Arkham Hospital. The police sent him to the Grimm Orphanage and enrolled him in Gotham High School. β
Batman's steel-blue sharp gaze swept across the screen.
"And a week later, the first director of the orphanage died in his office."
"Yes. That's it. β
Tim symbolically drew a cross on his chest: "It's hard to feel sorry for this." β
The mask covered the top half of Batman's face, and from Tim's angle, only the man's resolute and taut jaw and lips could be seen.
After a few moments, Batman made a categorical decision: "I'll go to Grimm's Orphanage." β
"As Bruce?"
"As Bruce."
The memories end. Bruce wore his trademark sweetheart smile and nodded nonchalantly, as if responding to every word from the dean's wife.
There was also a honey-like smile in his eyes, which swept over the children like the mildest sunshine on a snowless afternoon in Gotham.
Bruce asked knowingly, "Madam Dean, this is all the children in the Grimm Orphanage?" β
The dean helped her glasses: "Everyone should be here, let me see...... Oh no, it seems like there's one missing. β
"Don't leave such regrets, okay, let me meet all the children."
Bruce blinked innocently: "It's a good day, I'm going to give everyone a gift myself, and it's best that they can keep a good memory for many years to come." Where is the child who is missing? I can wait for him to arrive. β
"Where's Theodore?" The dean immediately turned to her assistant and asked, "He must still be upstairs, he just accidentally missed the notification, Anna, you go and call him down." β
Five minutes later, Theodore, with his hair as tousled as a chicken coop and a pair of slippers that were about to wear out, looked silent and annoyed, and followed Miss Anna downstairs.
Baby Brucy pretended not to see his reluctance and began to enthusiastically hand out gifts to everyone.
Theodore, of course, got a copy of it.
A gift box the size of an adult man's palm, delicately wrapped in powder blue wrapping paper, with a large pink ribbon knot tied on top.
Theodore tossed the weight of the gift box, looked through the packaging for a while, then raised his eyebrows, and without hesitation, he stuffed the gift to the girl next to him, Anne.
I thought that after giving all the gifts, the whim of the big guy would end, and he could go upstairs.
Unexpectedly, Bruce still had no intention of leaving.
In order to let Mr. Wayne better understand the daily life of the orphans, Ms. Dean motioned for everyone to stay in the yard, walk, chat and play games, and be sure to show a positive spirit.
Theodore didn't want to make games, he just wanted to stay away from Wayne as much as possible.
Ever since he threw out the report letter that didn't work, he was furious when he heard the last word "Wayne."
There was even a time when Theodore got up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and saw the silhouette of Batman passing by the window, and he hallucinated the black suit at Wayne's charity dinner.
The children began to get together in groups of three or five.
Theodore, on the other hand, slipped as unobtrusively as possible to the corner of the courtyard, on the edge of an abandoned fountain.
His performance was completely watched by Bruce.
Just as Theodore threw pebbles out of boredom and hit the clogged fountain mouth accurately, a slender and graceful figure appeared beside him silently.
Wayne didn't dislike the dust on the fountain platform, and with just a few gentle pats, he lifted the hem of his haute couture suit and sat down next to Theodore.
His friendly blue eyes sparkled as he smiled and greeted Theodore.
"Hi kid."
Theodore: "......"
To tell you the truth, at this moment, the hairs on his body stood upside down!
At this time, Theodore was full of thoughts-
I've been hiding so far, can you still find me?
What's going on, is the letter addressed to the Child Protection Society exposed?
Damn, just know that Gotham's institutions can't be trusted.
Since they are willing to hide the truth for Wayne and betray the whistleblower, they must also be able to do it easily.
But Theodore sent an anonymous letter, even sent by Lina for him, not by himself. Even if Wayne wants to investigate, he must first find the Big Bad Wolves.
If not because of the letters, then because of ......
Theodore hastily bowed his head, the tiles in the discarded fountain pool reflecting his own shadow.
Look, what a handsome little boy with black hair and blue eyes!
Theodore: "......"
Okay, no need to say anything, he solved the case.
If he had known that rubbing his hair into a bird's nest would not stop Mr. Wayne's paranoid aesthetic, he should have been ruthless and shaved his bald head.
Theodore pulled the corners of his mouth with a non-smirk: "Good afternoon, Mr. Wayne." β
This attitude can be said to be rejecting people thousands of miles away, but Wayne doesn't seem to mind at all.
Gotham Baby's eyes were bent, and a few fine wrinkles were rubbed at the corners of his eyes, but they didn't make people feel old, and even like a gold rim on porcelain, which added a little more charm to him.
Outwardly, this man is indeed impeccable.
"Child, I noticed that you didn't accept my gift, you didn't even open it." Wayne tilted his head curiously, "Can you tell me why?" β
Theodore grimaced: "I didn't open it, but I guessed what was inside." β
"Oh?"
"Fountain pen."
"Wow, amazing judgment." Wayne snorted softly and gave Theodore two small applause, "I guess you gave it to that girl - it must be a girl who loves to write, right?" β
"It's not."
Theodore had only one goal today, and that was to disappoint Wayne in all aspects.
"I don't want a pen because I don't like to study."
He saw Wayne raise an eyebrow, but before the big man could speak, Theodore strode toward the middle of the courtyard.
"Sorry, I'm a little tight-chested and want to find a more spacious place."
Theodore didn't notice that behind him, Wayne had a thoughtful expression.
The disguised innocent eyes condensed, like two grains of ice thrown in a sweet cocktail.
No one saw that Bruce Wayne was touching the hot spring platform with his fingers, and with a slight movement, he took off the eavesdropping device he had just pressed.
β¦β¦ Is it a coincidence? Why did the boy choose to leave at this time?
The bugging device disappeared into Bruce Wayne's palm as if by magic.
He watched Theodore choose a new pavilion: open on all sides, visible to anyone from any direction, and located in the center of the courtyard.
Good location.
Even if Batman is allowed to choose, there is no better location in the entire courtyard than this.
- Not a coincidence.
- Theodore has a strong anti-listening ability.
Batman made a mental note of this.
But actually......
No one knew that Theodore was screaming wildly in his heart.
- He'll have to find a place to stay in public!
- Even if Wayne can cover the sky with one hand, he won't have a bottom line to start his play in front of everyone's eyes!!
