033 Golden Corn Growth Diary
After the Storm Frontier docked in the Lionmane's Gnaku, Somny, who didn't need to keep the entire submarine running, was left with the work to be done for a while.
This does not mean that he will be idle: there is always no end to work, depending on whether the person wants to do it or not.
Although Rika Fujimaru said that he could take the opportunity to rest for a few days, the word "rest" manifests itself completely differently in humans than in ships.
Somney did briefly stop his activities, overhaul and maintain himself, and made sure he was still in top shape – and then, he took it for granted that his "rest" was over perfectly.
The restarted Somny briefly glanced around the furnishings in the main control room, and after realizing once again that there was no more work to attend to him for the time being, he turned to leave.
There's no end to the work, especially on a small ship where O&M personnel are stretched thin.
Somney walked quietly through the white hallways of the Storm Border. The golden armor was supposed to make all sorts of noises as it moved—the sound of servos running, the sound of joints moving and rubbing, the sound of heavy footsteps falling to the ground—but it didn't.
It had nothing to do with skill, it was just that the various concealment devices on board the Imperial Dream perfectly dripped out all the sounds he might make while walking.
He could even erase his own form if he wanted to, but inside the Storm Frontier, not only was this meaningless, but could cause unnecessary misunderstandings.
He walked down the corridor towards his goal. The interior of the Storm Boundary is much larger than it looks from the outside, and the path is intricate, and sometimes it can change for some reason, but that doesn't bother Somney.
He could sometimes vaguely feel that the ship itself was conscious. He was able to gain knowledge about the ship from the other party.
Given that in the fortieth millennium onwards, the "mech" is also a well-known product that exists by default, Somny is not too surprised that the Storm Boundary is "conscious".
He had only just been "born", so it was unclear whether other ships would gradually become conscious in the process of using it, and it was impossible to judge whether it was normal for the other party to claim that his name was "Nemo" as a consciousness of the "Storm Boundary", he only recorded this name after a brief exchange with the other party, confirmed that they could cooperate amicably, and transmitted the knowledge and records that the other party needed.
Overall, Somney's relationship with "Nemo" is not bad. Although there were occasional frivolous disputes between them about who was better in terms of the function of the ship, on the whole such disputes ended in failure, so it cannot be said that they had ever clashed. At the very least, when Somney consulted Nemo about the need for a suitable workplace, he always got a succinct and correct answer.
As now, if there is no corresponding prompt, I am afraid that he will follow the "tailor's room" or "warehouse" marked on the ship's floor plan in the documents. However, after consulting Nemo, the other party said that if he wanted to make clothes for the master, then he should go to the "Da Vinci Workshop".
All of Rika's dresses so far have been produced there.
The initial contact with the Lion's Mane, though obscured from the public's memory due to the compilation of the matter, still reminded Somny of the "dress code for formal occasions."
Although in the context of the militarism of the Empire, various combat uniforms, including power armor, are also taken for granted as a kind of "formal clothing" and will not be criticized on most occasions, one is that as their activities gradually become known to more imperial institutions, there will always be occasions where "military dresses should be worn more"; The second is that many of Rika Fujimaru's magic costumes that can actually be used in actual combat are not enough "combat suits" in the eyes of the Imperials - even the Ortenus Lingji exoskeleton is quite good, at least it can clearly see the structure of the "exoskeleton".
Thirdly, and most importantly, Somney believes that Fujimaru Rika was the emperor's chosen envoy to the throne, and on some occasions, her words and deeds represented the emperor's will. Therefore, whether she likes it or not, she must also have a corresponding weight in dressing up for such occasions. And when you really encounter such an occasion, it is obviously too late to start preparing.
Somni, who had served as the emperor's flagship for a period of time and was therefore familiar with the various ceremonial rules involved, felt that it was necessary for him to prepare for a rainy day.
There is no Da Vinci in the "Da Vinci Workshop" today, but the workshop itself still almost maintains the distinct personal color of its owner.
It wasn't the first time Somny had entered the room, but that didn't stop him from having the illusion of an otherworldly presence in the contrast of the décor: contrary to the almost simple and cold design style in the corridors, which was completely contrary to the mainstream of the Empire, the interior of the workshop was filled with a warm clutter of colors and furnishings. There are all kinds of strange finished products, semi-finished products, and even half-painted designs, and the raw materials used to make them are just haphazardly arranged.
Somney could see the specific function of a small part of it, and he could see that the other part was left in place simply because of the need for beauty or commemorative significance, but he could not make a meaningful analysis of the other "magic-related" things, which were the majority of the things in this workshop.
Fortunately, he wasn't here to look for these things, he was just looking for some "real" raw materials: the cloak he had made for Rika Fujimaru was completely woven from his magic. It's not difficult to do this quickly using the dressing room on the Imperial Dream, but it's a different story if you need to store it for a long time.
The room may have been large, but the cramped furnishings stretched the space that could actually be used, especially for a giant like Somney. He therefore stood cautiously in the open space in the doorway, first doing a general scan of the room, making sure where the things he needed were before delving into it, and finally, taking his target as little as possible without destroying the original furnishings of the place.
It was a bit difficult for someone of this size, but Somney managed to do it in the end. He left with the fabrics and threads he needed, ready to find a space more suitable for his body type for the rest of the work. And in the moment he turned around, he caught a glimpse of a few small childlike black figures poking their heads out of the doorway.
There weren't supposed to be any kids like that on the ship, but Somney knew that they were an extension of the Storm Frontier's own will—the exact number was vague and the type of aircraft was hard to tell right away, but they were all part of Nemo.
It was these little shadows who did a good job of maintaining and repairing the Storm Frontier on a day-to-day basis, as the ship itself knew better what the problems were that would hinder its operation.
Considering that Rika Fujimaru can turn the Imperial Dream into a forbidden army and walk around, it is not too surprising that she can turn the Storm Frontier into many small dark shadows to defend herself. Somney was quick to accept this, and he nodded calmly to the tiny kinds, who seemed to be hidden in a black mist, and did not even make out their facial features, and walked past them out of the room, ready to go on with his work.
However, he walked about twenty meters, passed a fork in the road, and finally realized by the sound of small footsteps behind him that he seemed to be stuck to these little things.
Somny stopped and turned back, and the four, all of whom looked closely, were neatly seated behind him, and looked up, staring at him in silence.
It took him a while to remember that such a "shadow servant" did not seem to have the ability to communicate verbally, and could only execute some preset simple commands. And for as long as this period lasts, the silence in this corridor lasts.
Somney then realizes that his kind don't have as many extended functions as his own, and that the Nemo Series itself is tasked with maintaining the Storm Frontier itself. In the case of temporary storage of ships and no need for maintenance, they will naturally be idle. It stands to reason that they should naturally retreat at this time, waiting for Rika Fujimaru's next summoning, but why......
"Don't you have a job for a while?" Somney asked tentatively.
The Nemo Followers nodded in silence and gathered more around the Somny in the center. The latter didn't quite understand why this had happened, but he did somehow read the obvious curiosity in the raised faces of those little dark shadows.
This led him to swallow back the next question: it was not uncommon for an old-fashioned ship to be curious about a large ship like him, made entirely of the Empire's cutting-edge technology.
Thinking he had found the answer, Somney hesitated slightly, deciding not to make any special treatment for the four Nemo instances, and turned to continue his work. And this is a kind of "let's come together" in Nemo's eyes—so in the empty corridor, the golden giant dragged four small black shadows behind him, moving towards Somny's personal room, which was one size larger in terms of furnishings.
These five "people", the big and the smallest, will pass the whole day in other work. If anyone sees it, it's kind of funny.
