Section 98 Raids
Section 98 Raid
While Chaos' tactics are a bit dull by Southerner standards, there's no denying that raiding is still one of Chaos' favorite tactics. Perhaps the Chaos Warriors didn't read the war books and didn't understand the term "surprise and unpreparedness", but that didn't stop them from understanding the significance of the raid. Anyone with even a modicum of combat experience (as is the case with almost all Chaos cultists) understands that attacking a group of unprepared enemies is a completely different concept than attacking a group of enemies who are preparing for battle. The difficulty between the two is very different.
As a Chaos Warrior, everyone knows what it means to suddenly hear the sound of a horn symbolizing the outbreak of battle without any foreknowledge.
Even Jakes himself is no stranger to this kind of horn sound that represents a surprise attack. This has happened more than once in the past when he has been entangled with Astiana (everyone admits that Astiana, Lord of Chaos, is indeed a difficult opponent). However, every time he heard it, Jakes was outside the swamp, at least on the edge of the swamp. But this is his dwelling, deep in the swamp!
Ever since he had been favored by his loving father Nurgle to become the ruler of the swamp, it had never happened that an outsider had been able to penetrate the swamp. This is determined by the specific geography of the swamp. The swamp itself is better than any high city and deep pool, better than a qiē bow and arrows and magic, and even better than a qiē trickery and strategy. Unless another Chaos Lord of Nurgle challenged him, unless another Nurgle army could endure the harsh conditions of the swamp attacked him, Jakes didn't have to worry about being attacked in his lair.
The years that have passed have amply demonstrated this. Even if he fell into Astiana's trap and suffered heavy losses, as long as he could retreat into the swamp, Astiana would have no choice but to do anything. It's like an invincible shark in the sea, and it can't help but crawl a turtle on land.
"Enemy attack?" one of his guards hesitated, objecting to his judgment. "Your Excellency, but...... Here it is......"
It is easy to guess that the unspoken words of him can be done by one person. Although the swamp terrain is treacherous, it would not be outrageous if three or five enemy scouts found it. This is, perhaps, a tactic to disrupt the enemy, rather than a real attack.
Jakes didn't answer, but the marauder was quick, and in a short time, a flail was delivered to him. Even by the standards of Chaos, it was a dirty, ugly-looking weapon. No one would question the weapon's lethality, as puffs of green smoke visible to the naked eye surround the weapon, clearly indicating the weapon's effectiveness.
"Get ready for battle...... Jax didn't finish his sentence when he saw a few of Nurgle's Chaos Warriors running towards him. None of these people wore Chaos armor, and even if they did, they wore only a small amount.
Before the leader of "Adult ......" could say a word, a pink flame flew from afar, sweeping away the Chaos warriors in an instant. The pink flames may seem harmless, but they are far more dangerous than anyone thinks. In just a short time, several Chaos Warriors were burned into torches in a miserable howl, and finally turned into a pile of black solids that no longer moved.
"Dimensional Demon Flame ......" came out from under Jakes's helmet. It was a spell peculiar to Tzeentch - after witnessing this qiē, the doubts in everyone's hearts vanished, and only fear remained.
How did Tzeentch's army get here?
This is not so much an end as a beginning. Because in the blink of an eye, the entire camp seemed to be covered with cries and screams. An attack has erupted in full swing.
The village camp was surrounded by only a fence - a simple fence. As mentioned earlier, this thing is used to defend against those swamp creatures infiltrating the camp, and it is not even a small obstacle for an enemy army planning to attack. This was not a mistake in the first place, but now it has become an irreparable disadvantage.
If at this moment, the village was surrounded by a strong wall similar to that of other Chaos tribes, perhaps Jax would be able to give it a chance and see if he could hold the camp. But now, his only option was to retreat - or run away.
But the Immortal Juggernaut was the Immortal Juggernaut after all, and in his life that was far longer than that of a normal human, he had experienced countless battles. Even if he was once a mediocre talent, he is now an expert for a long time. As the saying goes, "Stubborn stones can be carved into jade". He took a moment to gauge the situation around him, and then immediately waved his hand at his subordinates, rushing in the direction where there was the least movement.
As long as he gets out of here, as long as he can live, he will figure it out and find an opportunity to fight back against the enemy.
But this attack was not a point or a direction, but a siege from all sides. Jax had barely taken a few steps before he was met by a group of enemies rushing in - a group of Chaos warriors in Chaos armor, white, shiny Chaos armor, a completely different color from the Nurgle warriors.
He immediately threw himself into a scuffle.
Stubborn resistance was not organized in the village. On the one hand, they were really unprepared - who would have thought that they would be attacked by the enemy here? The believers of Nurgle did not have time to put on their armor, at most they only had time to pick up their weapons, and some of them were not with them, and even rushed out of the door to fight the enemy with their bare hands, and finally had to lie in a pool of blood in front of their house. On the other hand, the poor defenses of the village - which, as mentioned earlier, were a better than nothing - allowed the enemy to break through from multiple points without leaving any time to prepare.
It was also a shame that Jakes had gathered his own guards, though he had not done so with the intention of defending against enemy raids. But anyway, it also gave him a bigger chance. After a fierce battle, the small force of the enemy that rushed towards it was routed, half of them were killed in the battle, and the other half fled in a rout. Jakes did not chase after him, for although he won a small victory, his men were all hung up, and one of the guards was even killed, having his helmet and skull cut off with an axe. Nurgle's high-ranking followers have a very tenacious vitality, but that doesn't mean they can't be killed.
After a short while, more Nurgle cultists gathered around Jakes. It is a spontaneous gathering: in the midst of this shouting and clamor of battle on all sides, everyone instinctively seeks refuge. A well-armored team is clearly the best target. However, the increase in numbers was of little use to Jakes's team, as most of the people who followed them were poorly armored and very nervous, as is common in raids. Due to tension and fear, soldiers are more inclined to run than fight in such situations.
But unfortunately, now that they are surrounded and attacked, such a thing as escaping will not only not preserve their strength, but will cause their own side to suffer even greater losses.
The flames don't know when they started burning - for the swamp dwellers, their walls made of earth and stone could not have burned, but unfortunately, they used thatch for their roofs. The spread of the flames further added to the chaos in the camp and increased the momentum of the attackers.
With the experience accumulated over his long life, the Chaos Lord judged from the chaos of this area that the number of enemies was not as large as it sounded, and it should be around a thousand. However, on the one hand, they took advantage of the convenience of the raid, and on the other hand, their soldiers were elite (the defeated enemy army just now was actually all Chaos warriors with Chaos armor), so it was impossible to turn the tide of the battle at this time. All he can do is break through.
The force he had just routed was clearly an outflanked detachment. From this point of view, the direction from which this detachment came may be the position where the enemy's forces are relatively weak.
Let's not say whether there is a problem with this empirical and instinctive inference, but it is also a question of where the detachment came from - no one has stipulated that they must follow a straight line all the way without taking an arc, and no one has stipulated that the route they escaped is the route they came.
As for how the enemy appeared here - for the time being, the Immortal Lord would not have time to deal with it. Anyway, the enemy is coming, and they are attacking, and if he still insists on thinking about it, he will probably never have a chance to think about anything else.
"This way!" Jakes finally chose the direction in which the group of enemies he had just defeated had fled—the direction they had come. Although there is no guarantee that this direction will be safe, at least the odds are better than in other directions.
This choice seemed right at first, but they hadn't gone far when a burst of Tzeentchine flames suddenly struck from the side, grazing right next to the Immortal Lord. The pink ruined flames directly engulfed more than twenty followers of the Father of the Plague.
Then they noticed that a Tzeentch wizard was there, with his feet on the magic disk, suspended in the air at a height of a man. A steady stream of enemies are passing under the wizard's feet, rushing towards this direction.
Damn! the Immortal Lord cursed softly. He had planned to rush out through the gap in the enemy's attack, but with the help of these flying Trench wizards, he would inevitably be intercepted by the enemy no matter which direction he charged.
In the distance, an anomalous popping sound can be heard. It was a common occurrence of fights between wizards. The Immortal Juggernaut knew that the advantage in this battle was not on his side even if he didn't look - there were only two Nurgle wizards in the village, and Jakes was certain that the number of enemy wizards would never be less than double digits. In fact, even in a one-on-one battle, he had no chance of winning - in the midst of chaos, Tzeentch's magical power was notoriously strong.
"Kill it......" he roared as a spinning pillar of flamestorm burst out from the battlefield floor, its roar nearly muffling out the screams of all its victims. It's just that at this moment, almost all the forwards of his team were wiped out. Although these were just improvised miscellaneous soldiers, this blow caused the entire team to involuntarily stop.
Then, a wall on the side collapsed. A large group of enemies, clad in Chaos armor and ready for battle, emerged from the other side. The Immortal Lord clearly saw that the enemy in the lead was wearing a distinctive armor, which was the high-grade magic armor that the Chaos Lord deserved.
After this person appeared, the entire battlefield suddenly calmed down.
Please note that the normal update time is 8 o'clock in the morning, and if there is an accident that cannot be changed, then you can expect 8 o'clock in the evening.
