Section 13 Attacks

Section 13 Attack

The time of the attack was about as long as Asowen had expected.

As mentioned earlier, at this time, both sides already knew that the other side was in the army, especially Asowen's side, which had already raised their vigilance and worked hard to prepare for war. In this case, it is extremely difficult to succeed in a sneak attack. Therefore, the abusive war gang has no intention of sneaking up at all. In fact, they came over above board, and they didn't even move forward very fast.

Ashrufat stood on the turret and watched the enemy's troops approach.

A whole group of hoplites, with a clear banner and a strict formation, walked with a unified pace. This kind of scene can give a considerable amount of mental pressure to people who are not experienced in combat, but in Ashrufat's opinion, it is really ridiculous.

Because in the art of war he came into contact with, or in the military books written by the southerners, the significance of the surprise attack was emphasized. If you can attack an unprepared enemy, you can offset countless disadvantages. It doesn't matter if it's troops, training or equipment.

If Ashrufat is the champion of the Sadomasochism, then he will probably attack as soon as he finds out and confirms the opponent's sustenance. This is a common sense for the officers of the seven central countries, or the most basic military quality. But it's clear that this sadistic champion has wasted a lot of time. He fed and rejuvenated his soldiers, but he had no idea that these precious few days would be able to raise the difficulty of the battle to a whole new level.

From this point of view, the generals of the Chaos Legion who invaded Gruni are quite difficult enemies to deal with (whether it is the Lord of the Blood Fang or Marven), but in reality, there are not many Chaos officers with such qualities. Chaos uses the elimination method of survival of the fittest to select the best people as Chaos Lords, and these Chaos Lords are not inferior to the generals of the Seven Kingdoms. However, at the middle and lower levels, the officers produced by military academies (or honed in the ranks of mercenaries) are much better than Chaos.

But in any case, this at least gave Ashrufat, or rather, Assowen, a chance.

The enemy began to approach and entered the range of attack of the war machine. But at this moment there were no war machines on either side, no ballistas, no cannons, or catapults or anything like that. The only war machine that the Dreadbook Gang can see is a siege engine. Actually, it wasn't a siege vehicle, it was just a big cart that was slightly modified and a giant log was pressed. But it was clear that this weapon was enough for the rudimentary wooden walls of the camp.

The Gang of Dreadors stopped out of range of their bows and arrows, forming an attacking formation. Maybe the Sadist Champion lacks military literacy, but he has a lot of experience. About half of the troops were with the siege engines, and the rest of the troops began to split into three groups, making a detour towards the rest of the camp, apparently looking for a gap to break through.

The siege engines were almost all hoplites in Chaos armor, while the separated teams were mostly marauders in some other messy armor.

Although he couldn't see it with the naked eye, Ashrufat could guess that all these roundabout troops had hooks for climbing in their hands.

He looked back at the others. Along with him were warriors, or archers, of the other two tribes. Everyone had a bow and arrow in their hands. That's right, their bows and arrows are hunting bows with a short range and lack of power, and the fur of wild beasts is okay, but the metal armor is a bit more difficult. However, not every enemy wears Chaos armor, and the Hunting Bow is also useful in this battle.

Asowen was the first to attack.

As a wizard, his magic attack range is the widest in this fight. With the chanting of magic, the fluctuation of the winds of magic, Slaanesh accepted the prayers of the faithful, and a wriggling wave of light struck the enemy like a whip. This magic is penetrating, and passing through the crowd does not affect the power of the magic. In an instant, dozens of hoplites were hit. They let out a terrible howl and fell one by one.

It's just a pity that although this magic has a wide killing range, its attack power is not very strong. Because of the dozens of enemies who fell, probably close to half of them got back on their feet. It was clear that although they were damaged by magic, they did not lose their combat effectiveness.

If it is a large-scale battlefield, then this magic can kill and injure hundreds of people, and at least a few dozen of them will die.

Asowen was temporarily in a state of confusion that would inevitably result in casting the spell, and he was unable to use the second magic for a short period of time.

Then the offensive began.

The frontal battle was lackluster. As mentioned earlier, bows and arrows are not very lethal to Chaos armor, so catapults are simply used here. Although this weapon is said to have poor range and hit rate, in fact, if you don't pay attention to hit rate, it is much more powerful against Chaos armor than a bow and arrow. Especially in the case of being hit in the head by a stone. Chaos armor may be able to withstand rock, but not impact.

In order to clean up the troublesome thistles around them, the Dreadbook Warriors were slow to advance, and they did not prepare long-range weapons, so they could only be beaten for a while. But from another point of view, the catapult is a weapon with poor range and accuracy, so don't look at a Chaos warrior falling from time to time, but their team still does not waver in the slightest, but continues to approach like this.

"Ready!" Aso Wenhui came over and gave the order for the next battle in time.

Then, one of the tribe's nimblest and most adept runners climbed along a rope beyond the wooden wall. He carried three small clay pots with him. The warrior rushed forward along the pre-prepared gap of thistles, stopped twenty paces from the enemy's ranks, and threw the crockpot in his hand at the siege engine.

After the crockpot broke, a large amount of animal fat was splashed in all directions......

The attackers had no idea that they would be attacked like this. Because they were affected by thistle, they couldn't even run ahead to stop this sudden attack.

"Rocket!" the wizard who was directing the battle at the gate gave another order.

And then it just happened, naturally. The agile warrior ran back in time and climbed the gate. And a couple of irresistible rockets ignited the grease. In an instant, flames surrounded the siege vehicle.

Now, the abusive fighters must put out the fire. Because the fire was so big, they had to spend some time and use sand to extinguish the fire. During this time, they continued to be attacked by catapults, and about a dozen or so people fell.

Around the wooden walls of the camp, other battles were taking place. The fighting here is much more brutal. Because most of the attackers were marauders, they did not have Chaos armor to protect them, making them an effective threat with bows and arrows.

Thankfully, the camp's defenses were rudimentary after all. The wooden walls were not strong enough when they were first erected, so the top could not be assumed to be a platform. There is a limited number of turrets that can accommodate archers, and only three people can stand in each turret. Otherwise, this attack would be a death sentence.

The random arrows on the turret hit far more than those catapults. In just a short time, more than a dozen attackers fell in the path of the attack, and they did not even have a chance to connect close to the trench.

Ashrufat sent three arrows in a row from the Arrow Tower, basically one arrow at a time. He noticed that the Dreads had made a second mistake - they didn't keep the reserves, but pressed them all in.

A group of cavalry suddenly appeared from behind and pounced on the rear line of the Dreadnoodoots. The sound of horses' hooves caused a certain panic at first, but they quickly calmed down, because the number of cavalry coming from the rear was too small.

There were very few of them, for there were only four cavalrymen. Even the hoplites, with such a bounty in terms of numbers, cannot pose a threat.

A small squad of apocaustic fighters turned around to deal with the shabby attack. However, the enemy did not engage in battle, but fired at them with a crossbow on his horse.

These crossbows were military weapons, weapons of war captured by the Chaos Warriors and Southerners in battle, and their power was not comparable to those hunting bows. And it is well known that the crossbow is an extremely easy to use weapon with a high accuracy rate.

Three bolts of crossbow arrows were fired at the Chaos Warrior who rushed to the front. All of them pierced through the Chaos armor, two of which hit the chest and the last through the neck - from the front, through the collar, and the arrow came out from the back of the neck.

The Chaos Warrior let out a terrifying hiss, and the weapon in his hand fell to the ground. He struggled to pull the bolt out of his neck, but blood was already spurting out of the wound like a fountain. He staggered and refused to fall, but everyone knew he was dead.

The other sadistic warriors bypassed their dying companions and continued to charge towards the enemy.

But the cavalry had no intention of engaging them, and they turned around and ran, pulling away. But only a short time, they rushed back again, rewound crossbow in hand.

Of the four cavalrymen, one of them was a marauder, and the other three were not even marauders. But they attracted more than twenty Chaos Warriors, greatly relieving the pressure on the front line.

Asowen is ready for the next magic.

In an instant, supernatural hallucinations enveloped a group of Chaos warriors. About thirty Chaos warriors were bewitched by the magic and began to hallucinate. The real and the unreal switch between their five senses, making them go berserk. They were not physically harmed, but their spirits were under constant attack.

This is also Assowen's second magic, and as everyone knows, each spell deprives the caster of a portion of their energy. Assowen now looked pale, and his hands and feet trembled slightly. Today he was lucky, every magic was successful and perfect, but he had to keep the energy of the last magic as the hole card for this battle.

On the other side, the Sadist warriors had already rushed through the bows and arrows. Although they suffered heavy losses from bows and arrows as they passed through the obstacles in front of them, in the end, the trench did not stop their advance. They had approached the bottom of the wooden wall and began to throw hooks upwards.

The top of the originally jagged wooden wall is easy to snag. But this time, things seem to be a little different.

The top of the wooden wall is inserted with some thin pieces of wood. The hook hooked only these unstable pieces of wood, and it was completely impossible to hook them. Several of the impatient attackers even fell backwards as a result - falling into the trench and being impaled by pointed wooden stakes.

The shortcomings of the Sadistic Warrior's lack of ranged weapons are revealed. Ashrufat could boldly poke out his upper body and shoot at the enemies below, but the attackers were powerless to do anything about it.

This time the attack was repulsed. As mentioned earlier, even Chaos warriors who are driven by the belief of evil gods will collapse when there is no hope of battle. At least those who are not senior fighters will. The detachments besieging on three sides faced this one-sided slaughter, and their morale was extremely low. After nearly half of their companions were shot, they began to retreat uncontrollably. And the front of the gate. Face magic, flying stones, and burned siege vehicles. Even the abusive champion has lost the confidence to break through the enemy's door in one fell swoop.
