Chapter 777: Dinner Party
After the old bat had walked for a while, Hermione took Allen's outstretched arm and climbed the marble steps, and soon walked into Slughorn's office.
Due to the impromptu use of the Traceless Expansion Charm, Slughorn's office was much larger than usual, with emerald green, crimson, and gold drapery hanging from the ceiling and walls, looking like a large tent, but the room was still a little crowded and stuffy due to the large number of people, and was illuminated by a golden lamp hanging in the center of the ceiling.
"There's a house-elf in there. Hermione said, looking up at the lamp. Alan looked over and there were elves flickering in the lamp, each elf was a bright point of light, and from a corner in the distance came a loud voice that sounded like a song accompanied by a mandala bell.
"They should only be able to see the legs of the guests. Hermione was a little indignant, and Alan followed Hermione's gaze and saw some house-elves walking through the crowd, holding heavy silver plates in their hands to hide their bodies from being seen by other wizards, looking like roaming small tables.
Alan comforted softly, "It will change, at least the house-elves who work under the umbrella have accepted the holiday." β
Hermione still looked a little annoyed: "But they will ask for overtime during working hours to make up for their vacation time... And they refused to accept the salary. β
"Hermione, you have to think about the good thing, we're at least starting to get them to accept it, and that's already a blessing you've brought to them. With that, Alan put his arm around Hermione, "Let's go over first." β
Slughorn wears a velvet hat with poppies that matches his smoking shirt and is chatting passionately with Josephine Harris, who wears a purple wide-brimmed pearl woolen hat. Seeing Alan come in, the two stopped talking at the same time and greeted Allen.
"Professor Slughorn, good evening Aunt Josephine. Alan offered to say hello.
"Albert and Fleur are here too," Josephine nodded to Alan after hugging Hermione, and then looked at the audience for a moment, "I was there just now, where have I slipped away now." β
"Professor Harris, Miss Granger, good evening, I'm talking to Josephine about you, and I have some friends to introduce to you. Slughorn was loud and red-faced, and he enjoyed the gathering of talented and famous people, even if many of the guests were not members of his club.
"This is Elder Wolple, my former student, author of Blood Brothers: My Life Among Vampires β and, of course, his friend Bloodny. Slughorn's hand rested on the shoulder of a small, bespectacled man and pushed him in Allen's direction.
After Alan took the initiative to reach out his hand, Elder Wapple bent down slightly and shook it eagerly, "Professor Alan Harris, it's such an honor to meet you. Wauple's eyes widened and he looked up at Allen's face, "What I'm looking forward to the most is to meet you, Professor, if I can write a biography of Professor, I will definitely get everyone's expectation and love." β
"Please don't come near these girls. Josephine Harris's serious, commanding tone made Allen and Wolple, who were talking, look at her. Josephine stood next to a tall, thin man with dark circles under his eyes, a tired look, his pale hand gripping his arm tightly.
"Oh, Bloodni, don't go over. Vorpur's expression also became nervous, and the vampire Bloodny, who had been brought to the party by Vorpur, was waving at a group of curious and excited girls standing beside him, with a hungry glint in his eyes.
"You might as well eat a bloody lollipop. Ambrosius Froome pulled a bloody lollipop out of his pocket and handed it to Bloodnyl, carrying a variety of sweets in the basket in which he had cast the Traceless Stretching Charm to give to the other guestsβmainly the students, who he hoped would visit the Duke of Honey candy store he and his wife ran on a normal Hogsmeade day.
Ambrosieu Froome was also a member of the Slug Club and was introduced to Ciceron Hakis by Slughorn after graduating, which allowed him to get his first job. Later, Ambrosio married Mrs. Froome and started her own candy business, and in return for Professor Slughorn, Ambrosio would give him a gift basket full of candied pineapple every year on his birthday or on occasions like today, which was Slughorn's favorite candy.
Bloodnie grabbed the bloody lollipop and leaned boredly against a nearby cabinet - Josephine Harris had also taken one from the candy store owner and was watching the somewhat restless vampire.
"Professor Slughorn, can you continue to introduce me to the other club members?" Hermione politely extended an invitation to Slughorn, beginning the real purpose of her visit tonight.
"Of course, of course, come with me, there are a lot of people here today, and they also want to get acquainted with such a beautiful and capable witch. Slughorn praised that it wasn't difficult for Slughorn, he just provided a chance to get to know him.
Not long after Harry and Ginny entered the room, Ginny shook Harry off and ran towards a tall black witch with her eyes shining. Harry immediately recognized it as Gwenog Jones, and Ginny was a die-hard fan of hers, posting her picture in her bedroom in the Burrow.
But Gvinos was talking to Allen, and Ginny just stood quietly and looked at them adoringly.
"Mr. Alan Harris, do you have any plans to play in a professional club after graduation?" Gwenog Jones raised his dark brown hair head and stared at her brown eyes, "You are known as the best Seeker in the world, I would love to have a fight with you, but I still stand by my opinion, I think witches are better suited to Quidditch than wizards." β
"Quidditch is my hobby but I don't plan on developing it into my career yet, I don't think I'm going to join any club after I graduate, but I might still have some time at the next World Cup, and if you can join the Irish national team, I think we'll still have a chance to play each other. Allen, who was stopped by the black female batsman with some impoliteness, sneered, then looked at Ginny, who was uncontrollably excited, and said to Gwenog Jones, "Your fans are here." β
"Ms. Gwenog Jones, can you sign me?" Ginny smiled thankfully at Allen and quickly took out her lipstick, "I am currently working as a Gryffindor chaser at Hogwarts, and I plan to join the Holyhead Harpy team after graduation, and I hope to have that honor." β
Seeing that it was a woman, Gwenog Jones smiled heartily, took Ginny's lipstick, unscrewed it and pointed to Ginny's dress, "Sign here?" Ginny nodded, tugging at her skirt so that it was straight for the other party to write.
"Your name?" asked Gwenog Jones.
"My name is Ginevra Molly Weasley. Ginny's face turned red, she was so excited that she forgot to introduce herself.
"Weasleys, I should have thought of this redhead. Gwenog Jones didn't have the other stereotype that the Weasleys were pure-blood traitors, and she kindly signed her name to Ginny's dress, "I'll invite you during the summer vacation, how about you fly around and see what happens?" β
The other side of the banquet hall.
"Annette Bobin, our charming Ms. Bobin family runs a large chain of pharmacies. Slughorn introduced Hermione, "This is Hermione Granger, the head of the Umbrella Corporation. β
"Hello Miss Granger. Annette, who looked to be in her thirties, wore a low-cut pink and green dress studded with diamonds, and her short blond hair was neatly combed, looking smart and charming, "I have long heard that Miss Granger is not only outstanding in her studies but also in her business, and I have been thinking about when I can talk to you about it, and my brother's daughter, Melinda Bobin, is in the first grade, and she admires Alan Brown very much. Professor Harris, it's a pity that if it weren't for her age, I think she would have taken the ancient magic class a long time ago, although there have been some tabloid nonsense and some bad news recently, but don't worry, I think people with a little eye can tell right from wrong, and I am very willing to let my niece join the training class. β
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Bobin, and it would be great if Miss Melinda Bobin would like to come to the camp, and this year we have reformed it to encourage more people to join. Hermione held out her hand, but the other man just gently put a touch on her hand and withdrew it.
Hermione stared at the other party with some confusion and unconsciously used the Celestial Thoughts, and Annette smiled apologetically at Hermione a little stiffly: "I'll tell her the good news, and I don't know if I can have the honor to discuss business matters with your company, I mean the price of potions has been falling recently, I don't think it's a good thing for our industry..."
"I don't think there's a need for that, Ms. Bobin, and the drop in potion prices would be a good thing for more wizards, sapient magical creatures. Hermione raised an eyebrow and raised her chin as she rebuffed with a very cold expression.
The various potions sold by the Umbrella have the Arcane Garden of Ravenclaw's Mage Tower, which can speed up the cultivation of the most expensive part of the potion material composition, plus Professor Snape and the Tanet's knowledge manual on Potions, as well as some of the medical concepts and management methods introduced by the Muggles, so that the potions produced by the Umbrella Company are much better than the potions of varying quality that are privately allocated by various so-called potions masters on the market, and have a huge advantage in terms of production and cost.
The potion brand established by the umbrella has been affirmed by the wizarding world in just one year, and even the wizarding community in other countries has begun to do business with the umbrella.
"That's a shame, I think the Harris family still lacks an understanding of our traditional English wizarding family customs. Annette Bobbin was still smiling, but her tone was cold, "Oh, I'm sorry, with all due respect, is Miss Granger, the core management of the pure-blooded Harris Umbrella Company, related to Hertock Dagworth Granger, the founder of the Extraordinary Pharmacists Association?"
"No, I'm not related to him, I'm Muggle-born. Hermione's straight body made her very imposing - she had just read the other party's true thoughts from the other party's mind, but she was a supporter of pure-blood supremacy who was forced to 'condescend' to let the Umbrella Company control the price of potions, and let her own family business take a breather, and after receiving a refusal reply, the Bobin lady no longer hid it, and knowingly wanted to use her background as a satirical direction.
Annette Bobin's eyelashes twitched, and she slowly raised her eyes and glanced at Hermione, a gesture that didn't need to be said enough to make the other party feel her disdain.
Hermione was angry and was about to reply sarcastically, but was interrupted by a familiar female voice.
