In my days as the Empire's first healing priest, people liked to ask me all sorts of questions about dragons. Because I was one of the very few "lucky" humans who had the opportunity to witness how a dragon could grow from birth to maturity - at least according to legend.
As for the only dragon on the planet to be reborn from its embryonic state, Starlight Reses, indeed, I've known it since it was an egg. Or maybe it was because I discovered it that it didn't turn into nothingness like the first dozen brothers. But even so, I don't dare to say that I know about dragons, or how to raise a dragon.
Most of what I know about dragons has been revealed through the symbiote of the Starlight King, Dearlando Birmington-Cyrus. For example, the young dragon did not have its original consciousness when it was born, and all the knowledge and memories in the long life that did not know what the starting point was had not yet been etched into the young brain of the young dragon, and only the instinct common to all living beings controlled its actions - survival.
Hunger is a feeling that most people have experienced at one time or another. When I was a teenager, my family was killed by monsters, and my young sister and I were living on the streets, and we used to taste hunger. Even decades later, I still have unforgettable memories of empty stomach walls rubbing against each other.
So when you mention a powerful dragon, it's hard to understand that weishenme "hunger" is the first thing it feels on this shijie, but the truth is so grotesque.
We all know that dragons are magical creatures, or it can be said that they are magic, and they come from the magical realm deep in the starry sky. When a giant dragon is born on our planet with little magic, it is like a seed being left in the barren Gobi Desert, and it is its survival instinct to greedily seek and devour all the energy that can be used. If it weren't for the strong will of the symbiotes to fight against the dragon's instincts, perhaps our continent would have been swallowed up on the day the baby dragon croaked to the ground.
During those days with dragons, I realized for the first time that there were so many sources of energy and magic. The food, the sun, the intense emotions, the extreme climate, all kinds of minerals and jewelry, and of course us, the human race.
Perhaps the human being itself has never realized how efficient the human body is as an energy provider, and a living, high-quality human (such as an archmage or a high-ranking samurai) can provide the energy needed for almost an entire day of the young dragon. And the average human can provide far more energy than a medium-sized high-quality ruby, at least as much as a sweet and delicious biscuit.
The higher the creature, the more powerful the energy contained, and the energy of an elf is far superior to that of a human, but it is very difficult for you to meet an elf. So the number of humans and the ease of feeding determine that we are always the most cost-effective choice in the dragon's diet.
In our neighbor Bran, where the Dragon King has taken this simpler and more efficient approach, he has raised and nurtured humans with high magic and energy, and then eaten.
Thanks to Goddess Mona - Reses is a kind dragon, so by nature, it's not very murderous - at least not lover. So you won't see a hungry baby dragon rushing into a village or city to slaughter just to satisfy its empty stomach. Of course, the strong will of the symbiote is also a solid barrier to this behavior.
Reses is a dragon that symbolizes light, protection, and order, so a long period of hunger has accompanied it throughout its formative years, and it has nearly succumbed to appetite in many battles of instinct and self-control. Thankfully, my mentor, Fayl Gabrian Crete, a grey mage from Bran Heights, has always played an important role as a hole card. He has always selflessly fed the young dragons with his flesh and blood, and his dedication as a Bran is touching. I think this is also Weishenme, who will eventually be able to obtain the glory of returning to the High Astral Realm with Ryseth.
As we wander around this shijie, looking for clues that can make the baby dragon grow, every day is like dancing on a delicate tightrope with the lives of the people around us.
Thanks again to Goddess Mona, we never really fell.
