Chapter 001: Wolf Tooth Necklace

In the foggy canyon, a skinny child staggered and ran.

Whoop, whoop......

The panting sound was thick and muddy, as if an old man with a bad cold was desperately coughing up the sticky phlegm in his chest—anyone who could run so desperately for two hours would surely hear this uncomfortable sound coming from his throat.

But the boy could not stop and breathe comfortably, for not far behind him there was another rustling sound, and the clatter of some of the rubble.

That's five hungry wolves!

This is Snow Wolf Canyon, and there are many wolves!

It takes about a month for these wolves to have a full meal, because other edible species in this canyon have been extinct many years ago, and they can only feed on some beef and mutton sent by the Imperial military. Unfortunately, the breeders didn't always seem punctual, and most of the meat they delivered was the carcasses of dead cattle and horses that had been irradiated, which was not fresh enough, and sometimes poisoned them and made them more irritable.

They've probably been waiting for a long time like today.

The child ran feebly, his bare feet ground into a blur of flesh and blood by the sharp stones on the ground. The little bit of blood left between the crevices of the stones will undoubtedly make the trappers even more excited. For two hours, they were playing a game of cat and mouse with great interest. The previous life was indeed boring in space, and they actually couldn't bear to enter the main meal too early. To tear such a fresh dessert into a meat chop with his sharp teeth is a disappointment to the kindness arranged by God.

Suddenly, the child fell!

Between the hem of the coarse linen robe that had flown off, the knees that were so thin that there were only two bone joints left suddenly flowed with blood!

The child rolled over violently in pain, propped up his thin body with his hemp pole-like arms and dragged it backwards, and from time to time he picked up the stones at hand and threw them at the hungry wolves.

But these five wolves have surrounded him!

The hungry wolf's eyes glowed green, revealing a mouth full of sharp teeth, and the sticky saliva hanging from the corners of his mouth was almost on the ground. The few blows from the stone did not make them flinch, but they were stimulated by the pain even more excited.

"Woo...... The shiny wolf in the middle snorted with his nose, as if giving the order to his companions to close the encirclement.

The voice seemed to carry an inexplicable chill, which made the pores of the child's body tighten, and the unkempt hair stood up!

The boy had dense black hair, a color that is rare here in Shachi. Normal people here have either ordinary brown or flaxen hair, or noble blonde yellow, and occasionally some red or gray or something, but that is more acceptable to most people than black. Because the black-haired ones are generally only found in slave camps, not here, Snow Wolf Canyon.

"Get out of here!" the child struggled to his feet, picking up a small dead branch in his hand. But to no avail, the branch was snatched away by the lean but strong wolf, and dragged the child to his head.

Blood ran down the child's broad forehead, covering almost the entire face. It was a yellow-skinned face, and although the blood, sweat, and dust on it had become a dark red sludge covered like the mask of an ironclad samurai, the characteristics of the two Orientals were still clearly visible: black eyes and a not-so-tall nose.

But the five wolves didn't mind who the child was, in their eyes he was nothing but a fresh and delicious piece of meat!

"Woo!" the strongest wolf pursed his lips and cried contentedly.

It's time to dine!

The five wolves attacked at the same time! The sharp wolf claws cut through the child's oil-stained linen robe at once, and a deep blood mark was left on his chest. Blood poured out, staining the necklace around his neck red.

It was an ordinary-looking necklace with a few pendants tied to a black string. There was only one thing that was a little unusual—the pendants were not beautiful stones, but six animal teeth, pointed, white and a little curved. The wolves would probably be familiar with these pendants, for they were almost the same as the fangs that protruded from the corners of their mouths. But those wolves didn't notice, at this moment, the wolf tooth in the middle had quietly absorbed the blood stained on it, and the original snow-white color of the tip of the tooth also quietly added a little red......

The great strength and unbearable pain shook the child in circles, and before he could gain a foothold, the big mouth of the other wolf was already in front of his throat! The child instinctively turned sideways, but his shoulder did not have time to dodge, and a small piece of flesh that was still his own had been swallowed into the wolf's belly in blood!

The five wolves had forgotten how to politely bow to each other, and scrambled to pounce. The wolf's claws like knives and the wolf's fangs like iron nails were deadly weapons! The child gritted his teeth, not letting the pain force him to cry out in misery, but only dodged vigorously, and was about to escape a few steps at the slightest opportunity.

But all in vain. The boy soon lost the strength to resist, and his blood had flowed too much—and he finally fell to the ground on his back weakly, allowing the mighty wolf to press his forepaws heavily against his chest. He saw that the ferocious wolf face had already hung on the pride of the conqueror, and the big mouth that was slowly leaning towards his throat was red and fresh, and the breath that spewed out was bloody and unpleasant.

"Is that all?" the child's consciousness was already blurred, "it's going to cut my throat, right?"

Death is about to come.

It was like pushing open a dark heavy door, and waiting inside was a long-lost party.

He seemed to see that in the green blanket of grass in the sun, relatives, teachers and friends were sitting around the round and large wooden table, smiling and waving at him who was late.

It was a meeting he had been looking forward to for a long time, three or five years.

These faces are so real, so kind. He remembered each one of them clearly, yes, they were the same as they were, dressed in beautiful clothes, looking neat and serene. They didn't even grow old, as if in that world, time was entangled in the wheels of laughter and lost the momentum to rush forward, so everything was perfectly preserved, like a beautiful watercolor scroll, hanging quietly in a glass window, spotless.

The children wanted to take a step forward, as before, and jumped and ran over to hug them one by one to celebrate this rare reunion. But he couldn't. His body was heavy, as if a mountain had been pressed against his back, and even his mind was imprisoned by that tremendous force. In the confusion and sleepiness, the child's eyelids gradually drooped. He didn't have to struggle anymore, he was really tired after surviving alone for so many years.

"Do you want to give up, my child?"

A gentle voice that had been absent for a long time sounded in my ears. The voice seemed to come from the ethereal void, almost inaudible, but it really reached the child's mind, causing a small tremor there.

"Mommy......" The child raised his head again, the grievances and pain were not enough to make him cry, but the thoughts were enough, "I'm too tired." Let me go to you ......"

"It's not time yet, kid. You haven't fulfilled those six promises, have you forgotten?" reminded her mother's voice, calm as water, kindly and softly, "the ghost's frustrated phantom, the holy sword can cleanse the soul, the dragon's lost crypt, the mind will assemble the beauty, the flow can heal the wounds, and the ten will hold the stars." ”

This little nursery rhyme is a long-standing mystery of the homeland, and it is said that the warriors who solve them will have the power to solve the world's greatest crisis and thus achieve the highest glory. But decades later, the answers remain hidden in the fog, and even the mightiest warriors and wisest elders have not cracked them. Now, in the aftermath of the Holocaust, the rhetoric of children has become an unkeept-honored promise, and the six unrelated phrases have become an unbearable burden for the survivors.

"That's hard, Mom. The child complained, and if his body was still at the mercy of the call, he would have jumped up in protest, "What are they? Six treasures, or six sacred places? I can't think of it, I really can't think of it!"

"That's six glasses of wine, I guess. Find them, fill them, drink them......" The mother's voice grew faint.

The door to that world slowly closed, the soft light was blocked out, and the never-ending darkness was still scattered in front of me.

The lost child shed his last tears. God knows how much he longed for death, but he really couldn't, as his mother said, it wasn't time yet.

"How shall I fill those six glasses of wine?" the child asked in anguish inwardly, but the sensation recovered at an inopportune time, and the intense pain returned, causing his chest to rise and fall violently.

Quietly, the six wolf teeth on the child's chest flashed with strange light. Although the colorful halo is not eye-catching, it seems to contain magical power. The five hungry wolves, who were about to enjoy their meal, froze and slowly retreated as if frightened.

At this moment, another wolf slowly walked out of the mist. It was a giant wolf more than a man tall, snow-white and without a single stray hair. In the dazzling white light, the snow wolf jerked up its neck and let out a long howl!

"Whew-"

The desolate voice pierced through the clouds and came far away.
