Section 10 Fighting
The tenth quarter played
“Waaaagh......!!!”
The roar of the orcs shook the entire grove. The first snow on some of the branches was shaken down by the wild war cry. This primordial and ferocious cry is boundless because of the help of the echoes of the mountains. Although Borg61 Angney confirmed that the number of the greenskinned tribe would not exceed a thousand, the wild momentum actually made them look far more than they actually were.
The greenskins quickly rushed to the foot of the hillside, their crude weapons aloft, and charged towards the dwarven line. The greenskins know very well that they have to be fast. Just rush fast enough so that the dwarves' ranged weapons don't have a chance to exert terrifying lethality.
"Ready, aim, first shot!" Borg ordered. A puff of white smoke rose with the roar of muskets. The green skins that rushed to the front fell like leather pockets, but the ones behind still rushed forward and one after another.
"Boys, get a second gun!" Borg ordered loudly. He is a certified senior engineer of the Institution of Engineers and a veteran of many years of fighting with Greenskin. With the lethal effect of the firepower just now, he was sure that when these greenskins rushed in front of them, there would definitely be only a few left.
The Avengers are very well armed, and they are overarmed not so much as heavily armed. All musketeers carried three muskets and a short axe, making their actual firing frequency, especially in the short term, much stronger than it seems. In addition, the effect of spiral rifling has been confirmed in combat, and the effective range of the dwarven muskets has been doubled - which almost means that the Avengers' musketeers have three times the firepower of the average dwarven musketeers.
The effect of the second salvo was even more pronounced than the first. The dwarves can now take aim, leaving the greenskins with patches of corpses on the ground. Without any orders, the engineers, after firing the second round, all dropped the second musket, which was already useless, and drew the third.
"Boys, get out of the gun, Greenskin is scared!" Borg shouted. After two rounds of swift and deadly blows, the greenskins had visibly shaken, and even their fanatical roars had become softer.
So a third wave of muskets was fired. The bullets sent a burst of flesh and blood flying on the green-skinned front. It is well known that musket bullets have very good penetration, and even the finest armor cannot stop the fire of musket bullets. Not to mention the crude armor of the Greenskins. At this distance, the lethal effect of the bullet can be clearly seen. All of them looked at the big blood hole in their chest or abdomen with a desperate expression, and then fell weakly in the snow.
The engineers immediately loaded the gunpowder and loaded the bullets as fast as they could. Under the impetus of the Grand Forger Eshurufat, the dwarven musketeers have already fixed the gunpowder reloading action, and every action of loading bullets has been reduced to the limit. The Society of Engineers spent a great deal of effort on training all the musketeers before this expedition. It is important to know that on the battlefield, even a second less reload time can make the difference between victory and defeat in a battle.
In fact, when it comes to the use of gunpowder, dwarves are far ahead of humans. While human musketeers still rely on experience to reload gunpowder, dwarven musketeers have long known how to pack a fixed amount of gunpowder into powder packets in paper bags, one for each bullet. This fixed reload not only reduces the chance of a musket burst, but also ensures that all bullets remain at the same level of range and power.
In the blink of an eye, the bullet was reloaded. Trained to reduce redundant movements, the musketeers were able to reload and reload their muskets at almost the same time.
The greenskins continued to rush forward because of the inertia of the charge. But of course, the shrewd ones in the team knew it would be difficult for them to break through the defenses of this group of dwarven musketeers. They slowed down and let their more reckless, hot-blooded companions rush ahead.
The fourth wave of musket salvos confirmed this speculation. Patches of green skins fell under this volley. The greenskins thinned out visibly as they sifted through the bullets, and the distance between them and the dwarven musketeers made it clear that they would have to take two to three waves of bullets to get to close range.
But they couldn't afford to kill at such close range. The closer you are, the more firepower you have, a fact that even a greenskinned brain can understand. The dwarfs were much stronger than expected, and it was impossible for them to rush into hand-to-hand combat! And their numbers really can't support it with such a strong firepower. I don't know who was the first to turn around, but in the blink of an eye, the greenskins began to flee.
The next wave of bullets came from behind, which effectively urged them to escape.
"Like I said," Borg shouted at his teammates with the outcome decided. "It's not as green as it used to be. Back then, even if there was only one left, they would have rushed up. Alright, boys, load your muskets and do the last thing. ”
The dwarven engineers began to load all the muskets with gunpowder and bullets. When this was done, half of the musketeers watched the spot, while the other half walked towards the dead and wounded Greenskins with guns in one hand and axes in the other. They carefully patched up each greenskin with an axe, making sure none of them could continue to catch their breath.
"Listen, don't waste your strength on their skulls!Cut their necks!Main, cut their throats, and you'll be done with an axe!" Borg told the team about his experience. "Don't cut it on the neck bone, we don't have an axe backup!"
This army is all orcs, no goblins, and no snot. This completely verified the results of the previous reconnaissance, and the Thousand Greenskins were a detachment sent by a large Greenskin tribe.
The green skins of the peninsula are no different from those of other places. Divide into large and small tribes and fight each other. The big tribes have tens of thousands of green skins, and the small tribes also have hundreds of heroes. This will continue for a long time, but as time goes on, sooner or later, a lucky or powerful boss will emerge in the Greenskins to annex or absorb most of the nearby tribes and become a war commander. He would then unleash a Waaaagh and swoop into the dwarf's zone of control. Cause enough destruction and death before he is finally defeated.
These green skins, who have grown up in the melee, are all extremely belligerent. Their social structure, their living environment, and their way of thinking determine their mode of action. The dwarves know that a green-skinned boss will never turn a blind eye to a defeat under his hands. His subordinates have suffered losses, and the boss must set out in person to retaliate, otherwise he will not be the boss. Because his subordinates will leave this "gutsless" boss and go to other bosses or simply pull up a group of people to do it alone.
The only exception to this is that it is the enemy who is much stronger than him. For example, if it wasn't so many hundreds of musketeers who defeated this group of greenskins just now, but a large army of dwarves of tens of thousands of people, then this boss (you know, the IQ of the greenskinned boss is much higher than that of ordinary greenskins, and many bosses are sober-minded and very shrewd) will probably think twice. Even if he decides to take revenge at the end of the day, he will find a way to unite with the other greenskin tribes, instead of ignoring the brute force of Thirty-Seven Twenty-One.
Therefore, if these remnants of the greenskins flee back, it means that their large army will soon come back to take revenge.
The subsequent development turned out to be fully in line with the dwarves' expectations. The remnants of the Greenskins fled back to their lair, telling their leader, the Yellow-Eyed Boss, the news.
The Yellow-Eyed Tribe is the largest tribe in the neighborhood, and the Yellow-Eyed Old Nature is also the strongest boss in the neighborhood. This boss wasn't really the smartest kind of boss, but he was the biggest, strongest, and most vicious one in the neighborhood.
"What rice? You waste wood was overturned by those dwarves like this, and you didn't even touch their side?" Hearing the news from his men who had fled back from the head of the mouse, the yellow-eyed boss immediately widened his eyes.
"Boss, their firepower...... It's so fierce!"
"How many dwarfs are there?" The yellow-eyed boss, though not very intellectual, knows how to know the enemy's situation before going to war. Although this thousand number boy is only a detachment, it also represents a considerable part of his tribe's strength. In fact, the entire tribe of the Yellow-Eyed Boss, even counting the goblins, will not exceed fifteen thousand. From an objective point of view, it is completely possible to conclude that the scale of this yellow-eyed boss's tribe is first-class among the green skins, but it is not yet top-notch.
"There are not many of them, only three or four hundred. The subordinates returned. "But the bullets are so fierce!"
"You bunch of wastewood! let a bunch of dwarves fight like this!" the yellow-eyed boss jumped. The greenskins know the benefits of beating dwarves. Among other things, the dwarves have a large number of magical weapons and armor due to their special rune craft. These things are goodies, and even the green-skinned boss will covet them. In addition, annihilating a group of dwarves and defeating a greenskin tribe are completely different concepts. Even the belligerent Greenskins admit that the dwarves are difficult to deal with. If this group of dwarves can be annihilated, the reputation of the yellow-eyed boss will definitely rise, and a large number of greenskins will rush to him.
The biggest reason, of course, is that there are so few of them.
"Boys, the guys! We're going to cut them all down and let them know we're awesome! We're going to overturn them, we're going to chop them up, we're going to turn them all into scum!" Waaaagh......"
The boss gave an order, and the entire Yellow-Eyed tribe immediately mobilized in full force. More than 10,000 greenskins immediately rushed to the battlefield just now, led by the remnants of the defeated soldiers who had been defeated before.
Of course, there was nothing left on the battlefield now except the scattered green-skinned corpses. The dwarves weren't interested in the greenskin's crude armor weapons, so they wasted no time cleaning up the battlefield.
"Very well, the dwarves are scared!" the yellow-eyed boss observed the entire battlefield and quickly came to a conclusion. Dwarves, like humans, have the habit of cleaning up the battlefield and burying the corpses of the fallen (of course, they don't waste time preparing the grave for Greenskin, but instead dig a large pit and throw Greenskin's corpse inside). Their hasty retreat after the victory without having time to bury the bodies suggests that the dwarves should not be the vanguard of a large army, but only a scout force.
"Let's catch up and smack the shorty!" roared the yellow-eyed boss.
The Greenskins don't need to send scouts to scout, they have a better option. Soon, a large group of Sgurgs were released. This creature has a keen sense of smell, which makes them perfect for tracking down fleeing enemies. In fact, as the Greenskins know, the dwarves don't march fast. They will surely be able to catch up with the dwarves, and then use their weapons to chop the dwarves into meat sauce.
