Section 60 Assassins
The stupid Azuls had always been so lax.
The Assassin silently moved from one shadow to another. The Yasur sentinels patrolling back and forth were completely unaware of the movable darkness. He could turn that incompetent sentry into a corpse at any time if he wanted to.
Maybe it shouldn't be delayed for a few days. The Assassin felt sorry for himself. He deliberately dragged it out for a few days, and twice tried to keep the witch from playing because of his delay. This was because he feared that the prince might be prepared, as there had been many instances in the history of the Dao that a victorious elven general had been assassinated by the Assassins. These few days of delay could have paralyzed the vigilance of these Azuls - of course, the Assassins proved to be overwhelmed. These stupid cousins never seem to be able to learn well.
The sentry turned his head again, and taking advantage of the air, the Assassin dodged the cordon and entered the camp. He couldn't have been more familiar with the way his cousins set up camp - even with his eyes closed and his ears gagged, he could walk from camp to camp and report what area he was in.
He walked around a tent and lurked himself in the shadow of the tent, looking into the distance. Prince Ashrufat has been here for a few days – it's understandable. Although he won the battle, he also suffered a lot of losses, especially many wounded in the army. In order not to delay the march in the future, it is a good idea to stay for a short time now and use magic healing.
But this was only for a short time, and the Assassins' task was to keep them here for a long time – even forever.
It glided silently across the ground, through a clearing, but it didn't catch the attention of the Azuls who were talking around the campfire not far away. These stupid Yasurs. During their brief stay, the Assassins overheard them discussing Prince Ashrufat, praising his bravery and wisdom.
Very good indeed, on the one hand a good magician, on the other hand a powerful warrior, on the other hand, full of strategy and courage...... The assassin thought mockingly in his mind. It's just that no matter how powerful a warrior or magician is, when he sleeps, he is also weak as a helpless baby. No matter how good a general is, a dagger from the back can make all his wisdom go to nothing.
Ahead, a small group of Phoenix guards was passing by. The assassin curled up, no bigger than a cat, so that the Phoenix guards didn't notice it. They walked over, but Prince Ashrufat was not with them.
This should be the central area...... Judging by the vigilance and frequent movements of the soldiers around us, today's work is not yet complete. This means that there is a good chance that the prince has not rested yet.
The Assassin curled up, searching the area with his gaze, looking for what looked like a prince.
A young nobleman with no armor came out of a tent, his steps were urgent, but his rich clothes and the respectful attitude of the other soldiers showed that he was extraordinary. Is this the prince?, the Assassin pondered. It's kind of like it, but it's not too much like it. As he pondered the question, he heard the voice of the young nobleman.
"Your Royal Highness, there is the latest information coming. ”
After the young nobleman finished speaking, he stood outside a tent and stood respectfully on standby. Someone came out of the tent.
The Assassin's first instinct was that it was a human minion. These stupid Azuls actually took in many human slaves and incorporated them into the army. This mistake served the Assassin well, as the human camp was an open door for him to enter and exit at any time. This is what allowed him to reach the center of the barracks so effortlessly.
After a few seconds, however, the Assassin realized that he had been mistaken. Through some messy lighting, he saw the "human's" long, pointy ears. He's a Yasur! The striking elf took the paper from the young nobleman's hand and flipped through it as if no one was around.
This is Prince Ashrufat?, the Assassin thought. He waited patiently for more evidence, which was coming soon.
"Prince, the Phoenix King's suggestion ......" the young nobleman spat out the title "Prince" very clearly. The Assassin immediately focused on his target. It went smoothly and I found it all at once.
"Get the Archmages right now. Ashrufat said.
"Great/mages?"
"That's right, I remember that there were a couple of big/mages who were still treating the wounded nearby. Ashrufat said. "Find one, I have something to ask them. ”
Now that he had learned the Word, the elven arch/mage also knew the skills of the prophetesses. Able to greatly speed up the healing of the wounded by embracing the winds of magic.
Having said that, this period of deliberate proximity to the Great/Mages has yielded unexpected gains. When it comes to the level of magic, the elves, especially the great/mages, have a power that Carrie has so far admired. Carrie herself admits that it is an incredible thing to have such a level of magical civilization in this world. And the Great/Mage revealed a secret that made Carrie even more curious - in the midst of a casual conversation about the history of elven magic, one of the Great/Mages inadvertently slipped out that although the Azul clan had a very high level of magic today, in fact, magic was not studied by them spontaneously, but was taught by a foreign race. Or to put it this way, in the elven magic, the most basic magical knowledge is not original to them.
Ashrufat (or Carrie) tries to get to the bottom of it, but the Arch/Mages seem to be taboo about the subject. If you go a little deeper, you won't talk about it in detail. Ashruphat can only go so far.
But this secret aside, as long as the Great/Mages do have great power right now, they are able to flexibly master all the winds of magic and create powerful spells. But on the contrary, they have a strong prejudice. Unknown to the Path, the Great/Mages insisted that only the Azul in this world could use "pure, clean" magical energy, and that the magic of other races, including humans, greenskins, and others, was "depraved and tainted".
But for this, Carrie scoffed.
"Master, energy is energy, and where there is a difference between 'clean' and 'degenerate'. The only reason why elves are more powerful in magic is because their body structure is better suited to using magic. If you were to compare humans and elves, they would be like scissors and knives. Although both can cut paper, scissors are much more convenient to use than knives, more flexible, and easier to cut out better edges. That's probably the difference. But then again, although their magical civilization is said to be high, it has many congenital deficiencies. For example, they are very rejecting the ...... of the dark arts."
Of course. Not only humans, but elves as well. This is because the power of dark magic can directly affect the user and the person in contact with it. Elves are also afraid to reject this mutation. Besides, they have a super long lifespan, and they don't need to extend their life in this way, so there is almost no research on dark magic among the elves.
The wait for Ashruphat was not too long, as a large/mage was soon brought in by Alaset. However, to Aracet's puzzlement, the prince did not mean to discuss military affairs with the Arch/Mage, because he did not show the letter of the Phoenix King in his hand to the other party. Instead, he raised a magical question.
"Master," Ashruphat asked, now giving all the Arch/Mage this honorific title. "Is my idea feasible?"
"No problem at all. Your Royal Highness, there are sixteen of us in total, and we just need to be evenly lined up in the marching procession...... I think I can detect other people's magic. But Prince, I warn you that there are many other than us who can use magic, but at most they are not skilled enough to use it in real combat. There is never a clause in our customs and laws in Azul that prohibits others from using magic. Why do you care so much about the caster?"
"I have a little concern. Ashrufat replied. "And not only on the march, but also at night camp. I want to make sure that there is no second person in my army who is using magic besides you. This is true both on the march and at rest. Even in the middle of battles, especially those that are not fierce...... I hope so, too. ”
"I think it should be possible. "After hearing the prince's request, the Arch/Mage thought it carefully. "But that could mean that we have to work shifts at night. This will have an impact on the time of battle, as there may be people who are running low on energy. ”
"Rest assured, I will make sure you get plenty of rest before the war begins. Ashrufat replied. Good, just make sure that the unprofessional mages in his army can't cast spells, and his next plan should be successful.
He looked at the sky, and it was getting late. According to the plan, it should be time for him to go to the wounded barracks.
The wounded were in better condition than expected. With the exception of a few crippled soldiers, the wounded soldiers have recovered more or less completely. Even if you can't go into battle, at least it won't be an obstacle to the march. As for the wounded soldiers who are disabled, Ashrufat does not intend to waste them. They can be sent to the logistics team to supervise and guide the humans. This will speed up the logistics baggage vehicles a little faster.
Ashrufat went all the way to the past, and finally came to a tent on the edge. This tent was no different from a normal soldier's tent, but Ashrufat knew that it was not an ordinary wounded soldier living in the road. He opened the curtain door of the tent and saw Kaye sitting on a blanket. The white lion captain was pale, and her body was wrapped in white gauze, and red seeped through the gauze. She was wearing no shoes and was resting in a half-lying position.
"Your wound is broken again?" Ashrufat asked. Others' wounds are at least no longer bleeding.
"I did it on purpose. Kaye replied. "Doing so will allow the wound to heal faster and leave no scars"
