Section 21 The Holy Mountain
Twenty-one Sacred Mountain
A long time ago, the Church of the True God began to infiltrate Paro. Groups of pastors of the True God Church have planted churches throughout Paro, preached miracles and doctrines, and used various methods to win believers and supporters. After decades of hard work, the Church of the True God now has a strong presence in Paro. However, this behavior is always only in the state of "official default". Although the number of believers in the god of nature is decreasing, the Paro people still insist on worshipping the god of nature in appearance. They still often go to the sacred mountain for divination and prophecy, and also give corresponding offerings.
However, in order to obtain the full assistance of the Church of the True God against Cassilos and St. Jean, Paro finally chose to renounce his belief in the god of nature.
As it turned out, it was not without after-effects that the Paros had abandoned their reverence for the gods of nature and turned to the arms of the gods of the Star Field. The Church of the True God provided Paro with money, supplies, and volunteer support, and sent many magicians, but Princess Irina could justifiably seek the support of the Prophetesses and the Knights of the Holy Grail, describing the war with Paro as a holy war against the gods of nature......
βExcerpt from "History of the Styghian Wars"
When the woman appeared, Leo was walking alone in front of the cart.
This morning, they had just bid farewell to the small town at the foot of the holy mountain and officially ascended the mountain. In order to show their piety, they all dismounted and walked. Of course, another reason is that the mountain roads are rugged, and sometimes the horsepower of the cart is not enough, and the war horse is needed to help.
Leo has read many accounts and legends about the Holy Mountain. One of them is that visitors don't have to climb many mountain trails at all. The prophetesses possessed the power of divination and foreknowledge, so whenever a visitor was welcome, they would come out halfway to greet them. If the visitor is an undesirable villain, he will fall into a fog halfway up the mountain, and he will no longer find his way up the mountain.
"My lord, we're almost in the mist. The guide hired at the foot of the mountain reminded.
Zhilu said. Leo was uneasy, and he couldn't help but glance back at Aerufat behind him. If Ashrufat is not at ease, at least he will not be able to see it on his face at all. He seemed curious to observe everything around him.
A woman in a gray cloak appeared on the side of the road.
She looked like an ordinary rural woman, tired from walking, so she stopped for a while to rest.
"Kids. He heard the woman shout, and then lifted her hood to reveal her face.
When Leo heard the woman call out "child", he thought she was an old man, but he was wrong, at least, he couldn't tell how old she was. At first, he thought she was about the same age as himself, but the longer he looked at her, the more he felt that she should be older. There was maturity in her big dark eyes, a kind of confidence that she could not have in a young person. Leo had never seen a young woman look like that. These eyes are like a deep pool of water, encompassing him.
She stood gracefully, exuding a commanding air that made him feel clumsy. Although her height was not higher than his mouth, her temperament made him feel a little shorter.
God, what she describes in her book is exactly the same, no, more beautiful, nobler.
Leo's mouth opened wide, and before he could close it, he heard the commotion behind him.
Ashrufat got into a fight with two men. All three were armed, but none of them drew their weapons. Ashrufat pushed one man away at the moment, then kicked the other in the stomach. Taking advantage of the second person holding his stomach, he swung his fist and punched the first person backwards. The most powerful punch landed on the man's chin, sending him to the ground on his back.
"Ashrufat!" Leo tried to help, but suddenly realized that there was the prophetess by his side.
Wait a minute, this is a holy mountain, then these people definitely can't be robbers or something......
He looked back at the prophetess, but the prophetess didn't seem to have any intention of stopping her, only a little surprise between her eyebrows.
By this time, Ashrufat had already knocked the second man to the ground. He had noticed the strange woman beside Leo at the moment.
"We are ......," Leo wanted to introduce himself.
"Needless to say," interrupted the prophetess. "I know your purpose, guests from St. Jean. Please come with us. β
The two men who had been knocked down slowly got up, looking a little embarrassed. Instead of approaching Ashrufat again, they walked toward Leo. The guide made a well-behaved gesture to indicate that his mission was complete. Then he flew away the way he came.
Now the prophetess and two strange men walked in front, Leo and Ashrufat followed, and the other servants drove the chariot and led the horses, and walked behind the elders.
"Ashrufat, you just ...... It's likely that you're fighting the Knight of the Holy Grail. Leo took advantage of this and whispered to his companion. "You can actually fight two ...... at a time. β
"They were the ones who sneaked close to me. I just instinctively resisted. β
"Don't worry, it'll be fine. They don't care about such a trivial thing at all. After all, they are the Knights of the Holy Grail, people who are flawless in morality and strength. I care about their attitude......" Leo said softly.
Although it is said that it is a halfway greet, it proves that they are not unwelcome guests. But the prophetess's demeanor was so cold that she could be. This does not bode well for the two men on the mission.
An eerie mist came up from all directions, obscuring the view. Soon, the human eye will not be able to see beyond ten paces. All Leo could do was get as close to the prophetess as possible, lest he get lost in this fog.
"Leo. His companion tugged at his clothes and whispered a warning, "Our car was taken away." β
Leo turned around. But through the thick fog, he couldn't see anything. Only the sound of the wheels rolling can still be heard in my ears. The sound seemed to be disturbed by the dense fog locks around it, and it was impossible to hear the exact direction at all.
If it hadn't been for Ashrufat's warning, he probably thought the vehicle was still behind them, and he would have followed them.
The car was filled with precious gifts for the gods of nature. To ensure safety, Ashrufat and Leo arrived at the foot of the Holy Mountain with a whole team of guards. Of course, at this moment the guards were left at the foot of the mountain.
"The vehicle is heading out that way. Ashrufat said, pointing in one direction.
"It's going to be fine, this is a holy mountain. Leo replied, and he took a few steps to catch up with the prophetess in front of him. Ashrufat followed him.
"Excuse me, ma'am......" Leo slowly felt that something was wrong. They've come too far, and there's no sign of termination. There was a thick fog all around, so thick that it didn't even dare to turn around to look for Ashrufat behind him. For in doing so, he is likely to lose the back of the prophetess who leads the way.
"Young messenger, don't worry. The piety of your heart will guide you in the direction. The prophetess replied without looking back.
I'd rather use my eyes to guide me. Leo's mouth moved, but he still didn't say it.
He walked a long way again, until a knight like him, who had been born in the mountains and had long been accustomed to trekking, felt quite tired, and found himself in a forest. The fog is no longer thick, and the view is wider. The two men who accompanied the prophetess had left at an unknown time. The prophetess, who had walked ahead, stopped.
"It's not a realm for mortals to set foot in. The prophetess looked back. "Messengers, please wait here for a moment. β
"Master, there is indeed a god here. After the prophetess was gone, Carrie whispered to Eshurufat. Ever since coming to this sacred mountain, Carrie has always had a soft voice, as if she was worried about being noticed by others. Although Ashrufat knew that this was impossible.
"God?"
"A true God...... It should be said that it is a kind of ...... Natural phenomena...... God is made up of energies emanating from the intense subconscious of those who believe in Him...... He doesn't have a fixed form, but he does exist, and he has a lot of power. Master, please be careful, I don't know the power of this god, maybe he can see my existence. β
There was a little uneasiness in Carrie's voice.
"With the power of this god, those prophetesses and knights of the Holy Grail can indeed greatly prolong their lives. But that's also limited. They are only 'living long', not 'eternal life'. So masters, they're still just human. They are not like you, as long as you have not been killed by violence and injury, you are immortal. β
Ashrufat looked at his companion. Leo seemed a little agitated because he kept walking around in place.
The wind of magic flowed slowly in the air, and in the confines of this holy mountain, it seemed that the wind of magic was always blowing calmly like this, without any violent breath. Here, the magic that strengthens life, heals damage, and calms the mind can be easily cast, while the magic that destroys and destroys is greatly suppressed.
"Ashrufat, they're coming. Leo's words interrupted Ashrufat's train of thought. He immediately stopped feeling the wind of magic. In the direction of the prophetess's departure, several figures were walking towards them. Ashruphat immediately recognized that the prophetess who had brought them here was among them.
There were six women in total. The prophetess who had brought them earlier was at the very back of the line, clearly in the lowest position. The leader had long black hair, and his face was as ageless as that of all prophetesses.
Perhaps because of Carrie's warning, one of Ashrufat's hands unconsciously rested on his sword.
"Don't be nervous, Count Eshurufat. He heard the woman in the lead say. "Your strength is strong, but here, you don't need to fight to protect yourself. Here, we are the masters. β
This one should be the saint or fairy that Leo said. She is the leader of this group of women.
"Your Excellency. Ashruphat remembered his mission. "I have come by order of Princess Irina, the ruler of St. Jean, and I have come to ......"
"We know what you're here for. Count Aerufat and Knight Leo. The gods have already revealed it to us. The saint replied. "Paro's betrayal is unforgivable. The favor of the gods of nature will no longer be with them. I will send the Knights of the Grail and the Prophetesses to your army and under the command of General Thomas. We will fight together. β
