Section 1 Servants
"Is there a new person coming? Come in!"
The voice of a male duck came from the cold room.
Lance stood outside the door and glanced at the man in black behind him. He was escorted into a boat by the man in black, known as Seven, and then sent to the castle. The gloomy Crimson Castle was obviously much larger than the Viscount's Castle, and along the way, Lance and the Man in Black had to go around the road to reach this dungeon-like place.
Lance noticed that where he was, there were two rows of low houses, and the doors of the houses were now wide open and locked. Every room is furnished with simple daily necessities.
What made Lance feel even more creepy was that along the way, he found that the movements of the man in black were very stiff, and even when he walked, his knee joints were basically not bent, as if he was rubbing and walking.
Lance also tentatively said a few words to him, but the other party didn't pay attention to him at all, just blindly urging him to move forward, like a living dead who only knew how to carry out orders.
"Hurry up, hurry up!" the man inside urged, "I'll have to assign you a task after completing the formalities." Don't be lazy, Crimson Castle isn't anywhere else, there's no room for slackers and rubbish. β
Lance took a deep breath, the serpent curse on his wrist aching. He forcibly calmed his mind and walked inside.
Compared to the dampness outside, this room is much drier.
An eccentric man sits in front of a desk with his head bowed, a pen in his hand, and is scribbling.
Lance walked over.
The man looked up and grinned at Lance.
However, Lance was taken aback!
Because he saw the man's head, it was actually a dog's head!
Different from the kobold described in the monster illustrated book in the wizarding world, the guy standing in front of Lance is obviously an ordinary human, but his facial features and head are very mutated, and he is a fierce hunting dog alive.
"Boy, look at me like that again, and I'll gouge out your eyes!" said the kobold viciously.
A chill rose from behind Lance, and he felt a pang in his heart, and said to himself: "This guy has at least more than 70 magic points! Is he a high-level apprentice?"
"Say your name. The kobold man pulled out a piece of paper from the drawer, wrote a few strokes, and asked.
"Lance. β
"Vulgar name. The kobold muttered, a hint of mockery flashing in his eyes: "In fact, no matter what your name is, when you get here, you will never want to go out." I don't bother to write your name, just call it No. 3, my favorite food. β
With that, he scribbled a line on the paper.
Lance couldn't help but clench his fists. At this moment, the snake curse on his wrist suddenly became hot and began to irritate his nerves.
"Warning! An unknown neurotoxin is spreading inside your body!" said the fox urgently, "I can't eradicate it because there is no medically relevant sub-chip." β
"The best solution to this problem: amputation. β
Lance gritted his teeth, calming his anger. The serpent's curse died down immediately.
"I'm sure you can feel the horror of the serpent's curse, right? Old Sonny has been sitting at the back door of the Crimson Castle for one hundred and seventy-six years, and has received many wild wizards from the Arc, and no one of the servants has ever been able to escape the rule of the Crimson Castle. A few clever people managed to earn enough magic stones and became self-financed, but most of them stayed here forever. β
The kobold sneered maliciously, "You should have seen those houses when you came over, right? Those rooms are for you servants, and they are not enough to describe it as dark." Can you be willing to stay in this environment for the rest of your life?"
Lance was moved in his heart, it stands to reason that if this guy is just going through the formalities, why should he talk so much nonsense to himself?
He pondered it for a while, and suddenly his heart lit up, and he whispered: "I want to ask Your Excellency, I wonder if the man in black outside the road can understand our conversation?"
The kobold smiled strangely, shook his head, and said, "That's just a flesh puppet." Not even a zombie, he can't understand our conversation. β
"Oh, in that case, I have some strange demonized items here, and I would like to ask your Excellency to help identify them. Lance took two steps forward and quietly placed the two magic stones on the table, pushing them to the other end. But he said: "The magic power of these demonized items is too powerful, I'm afraid I can't identify them, I hope you can bring them back and identify them for a while longer." β
The kobold man smiled and quietly accepted the two magic stones.
He licked his lips and said, "It's rare to have such a wild wizard as you, generally speaking, those who are caught here as servants are some poor bastards. It looks like you're a bit wealthy, but you're quite far from a hundred magic stones, right?"
Lance smiled bitterly and spread his hands.
The kobold man sneered, suddenly rolled up his sleeves, revealing a huge blue-gray mark on his wrist, and said a little hideously: "See? This is the price of trying to sneak away from the Crimson Castle! For the sake of your knowledge, I kindly remind you, don't try to get rid of the old dwarf's control by means other than becoming a self-funded student!"
Langston was shocked, only to see that the "Viper Curse" on the kobold's arm was many times bigger than his own, and it had spread from his wrist to his arm.
"Every night, it would come back again as punishment for trying to escape from this place. The kobold silently rolled up his sleeves, continued to write on a piece of paper, and then said to Lance, "I still have a few free slavery places for the time being, but ......."
Lance frowned, the kobold man was inevitably too greedy. Is it because he is generous and makes the other party more greedy?
At that moment, he smiled bitterly and said, "My lord, I really don't have any more magic stones on hand. β
The kobold man smiled: "The free quota for the first month and the whole month without labor, many servants can't buy it if they want to." If not, then I'm sorry, Mr. Lance, I'm going to give you a job. β
Lance hesitated for a moment, then asked in a low voice, "Can you show me what the servants need to do every day?"
The kobold man said cheerfully, "No problem. β
With that, he pulled out a list from a stack of papers and handed it to Lance.
Lance just glanced at it in a hurry, although his face was still cold and calm, but his heart was gasping!
γTask Listγ:
a. Collect more than three baskets of Purple Star ore every day. Work location: 3rd basement floor of the mine cave behind the castle
b. Water [Quinny Aman] three times a day with your own mana, and each time you water your mana at least 8 points. Location: Sky Garden East District
c. Become a second-level wizard's spell living test subject. Location: Western Experimental Tower
......
There are a lot of tasks sprinkled below, but each task is very terrifying, and it is not done by people at all!
Lance estimated that if he had to complete these tasks every day, he would basically consume all his energy and magic, and he would not even have a chance to meditate higher.
No wonder kobold says that few people have been able to get rid of their status as servants for so many years. It's a bottomless pit!
"Quinny Aman is a terrifying magical plant that is said to be kept with the blood of a wizard's apprentice in order to survive. Bleeding like this every day, I'm afraid I'll die in less than a week. Lance's face was very ugly, and he thought in his heart: "And becoming an experimental subject of a second-level wizard is even more unremarkable, Hicks has long told me that the wizards in the Scarlet Castle are very evil, and the experiments they carry out will definitely kill people." β
You can't take any of the tasks here, otherwise there will be no way to survive at all.
When Lance was hesitating, the kobold man said coldly: "Don't hesitate, with my authority, I can only delay for you for a month." In the future, even if you give me thirty magic stones, I won't be able to delay for you. It was only in the first month that I was able to figure out how to do something. β
Lance gritted his teeth, and suddenly said, "If I give you three more magic stones, can you really save me the first month's task?"
The kobold man said grimly, "Do you have any other choice but to believe me?"
Lance's eyes narrowed, staring at the ridiculous doghead. A strange light flashed in his eyes, and at that moment, the kobold man suddenly felt unwell, as if he was locked by something.
"I choose to believe you. He took a deep look at the other party, the eagle eye had been opened, if the kobold man had a tendency to break his word, he would fight with the snake curse to break out, and he would also kill the other party!
Lance took out three magic stones again and handed them to the kobold man.
The kobold man showed a greedy look, he put away the magic stone, licked his lips, and his eyes lit up: "You are really rich!"
Lance said coldly, "It's none of your business. β
The kobold man took the money, but also did practical things, and soon he brushed a few words on a piece of paper, and then took out a metal nameplate and handed it to Lance.
"This is the uniform nameplate of the servants of the Crimson Castle, and everyone who walks in the castle must wear a nameplate that symbolizes their identity. The kobold explained, "I've already done the formalities for you, and you don't need to come to me for the first month." But after a month, you have to start working in earnest, or the serpent curse on your body will kill you. β
"Now, you can go. Follow the path to the end and you will find the quest hall. There, you can borrow quests with nameplates. After completing the mission, you will earn a lot of magic stones. While I don't believe you'll be able to earn enough money for a month to pay for your own tuition, I do wish you the best of luck. β
Lance took the nameplate, put it in his pocket, and suddenly asked, "Won't you be discovered by the old dwarf if you do this?"
The kobold man smiled coldly, and he divided the five magic stones that Lance gave him into two parts, one with four and the other with only one. He threw the four stones into a nearby brazier with green flames, and the four magic stones disappeared in the blink of an eye.
"Alright, old dwarf, it's done. The kobold said.
Lance nodded, it turned out that the old dwarf was the big one, and the kobold man was just an executor.
He just wanted to turn around and leave, but before he could go out, his footsteps stopped again: "I have another question for you." β
"Speak quickly!" the kobold man was a little impatient.
"You know a vulture with a servant's nameplate that captured me in Crimson Castle?"
The kobold man sneered and said, "Your luck is quite bad, it turned out to be Pansas, if you want revenge, I advise you to give up this thought." β
"That guy is the most powerful of all the servants, and I heard that he will soon earn enough magic stones to become a self-funded student. β
"His magic power has reached more than 90 points, and he can attack the second-level wizard at any time, you are not his opponent. β
Lance nodded thoughtfully, said thank you, and left the cold room.
