Section 8: Questioning

"Dismount first!" the bearded man ordered. Ashrufat knew that although his answer could not be said to be satisfactory to the other party, at least it did not arouse the hostility of the other party. He turned over and dismounted, then unsheathed his saber and hung it in the saddle. When he had done this, he raised his hand again, signaling that he was unarmed.

"Come with us. The beard came to his side to better supervise him. "Your horse stays here!"

Ashrufat did not resist and did as he was told.

The last lurker also came out, and the five of them discussed in a low voice, and the last one formed a column. One man led the way in front, and the other four followed behind Ashrufat. The two men with longbows walked at a fairly suitable distance, and if Ashruphat made any unusual move, they could attack with their bows and arrows. Of course, this idea must be based on the idea that Ashrufat is an ordinary man.

Mimilu doesn't show up, but she'll follow. Mimilu is very smart and won't smash this scene.

But there is another problem at hand. What should Eshurufat do when he meets Baron Pinod......? Do they have an old relationship to talk about? Identify themselves directly, or do you want to be patient first?

"The host, I think, would ideally have to do some kind help. "In my mind, Carrie suggested. "Baron Pinod may recognize you immediately, in which case it will only be a matter of luck. But if he doesn't recognize you at a glance, then you'd better do something to show your kindness first. ”

"What should I do?" Ashrufar had no intention of traveling all the way to serve Baron Pinold. His plan was to form alliances, not to become subordinates of the other side.

"Specific...... For now, we can only take one step at a time, and first assess the strength of Baron Pinold. Either way, be prepared for battle. Carrie said.

Finding Baron Pinod so easily this time was actually beyond Ashrufat's expectations. He had been thinking about his future plans all the way, so he didn't pay much attention to the things along the way, and it wasn't until the leader in front of him shouted "It's here" that Ashrufat realized that he had arrived at Baron Pinold's lair.

If I'm not mistaken, this is supposed to be an ancient mausoleum.

Time and weeds have annihilated this ancient building in this mountain. The mausoleum was built on a hill, and the perimeter of the mausoleum was once a magnificent building, but at this moment, only a little white marble pillar struggling to peek out of the dense meadows indicates that it is a human building, not a natural creation.

They walked behind a bush, and in the middle of a pile of stones, there was a memorial entrance. The man in the lead was the first to enter, followed by Ashrufat. After a few steps, he felt the tunnel open up. They burrowed into a square space, and then Ashrufat noticed that the sun was shining through a skylight. In fact, there is a whole row of skylights, so that there is no shortage of light in this underground mausoleum. However, Ashrufat could not tell if it was something that had already existed or had just been dug up in recent years.

"Who!" someone in front of them stopped them. "Password!"

"A friend. The man who led the way replied. After giving this answer, they moved on. The place was much bigger than expected, enough for a few hundred people, maybe thousands. Eshuruphat saw some unknown symbols on the floor tiles, from the vast interior space, the frescoes around it (most of which had faded, but barely recognizable), and the occasional sculpture, and at the end of the day, with the addition of such luxurious floor tiles, it was most likely the tomb of some ancient king.

Along the way, Ashrufat saw many people, all wrapped in cloaks or blankets, lying on the ground to rest. Their presence did not wake the sleepers, and the snoring echoed through the underworld.

It's an ideal hiding place. As Ashruphat thought so, he saw his leader stop, and a door appeared in front of him. It was the only door they saw as they walked in. This is not the stone door of the mausoleum, but a wooden door that has obviously been installed for less than two years. If I'm not mistaken, the inside of the wooden door should be the deepest part of this mausoleum.

Ashrufat noticed that the others who had escorted him over had stopped and had no intention of moving on. Only the bearded man walked past Ashrufat, reaching for the door.

"The host...... Do you feel it?" Carrie asked in her mind.

"Hmm. Ashrufat replied, the breath of black magic could be clearly felt in this place. Because in this kind of underground mausoleum, it is naturally the condensation of black magic. This means that there is a high probability that a user of the dark arts is hiding inside.

Baron Pinod was inside.

"Master, please keep your head down as much as you can, don't face the ......" Carrie's voice sounded a little uneasy.

"Keeping your head down like this is just a little bit more hidden!" replied Ashrufat in his mind. "And why grovel for such a small possibility?"

The door was pushed open. Ashrufat followed behind the bearded man and walked into the most sinister apse that had put the ancient kings to sleep.

"Why are you here? Who are you bringing here?"

"That's ......"

Ashrufat didn't care about the bearded question. He looked around the room and saw that the whole room had been made into a conference room. The original coffin had long since been removed, and in the middle of the room was a long table—slightly smaller than the one used by the nobles, but long enough. There were several people sitting at the edge of the long table, and a magic lamp was in the center of the table, and the blue and white trembling light illuminated the people at the table.

Before he came in, there seemed to be a meeting going on. Ashrufat's gaze swept over each of the attendees, but he didn't find his goal. All of them appear to be normal humans, devoid of the most distinctive vampire characteristic of their lips, the protruding fangs.

Of course, the Vampires of the Ashruphat Know-Dao can actually retract their canine teeth freely, even to the size of a human. But even fangs aside, there's no Baron Pinold among the people here - even if he's wrong, Carrie will recognize it.

In the first one on the left, sat a young man with a pale face, nothing of note except his pale face and a nervous look. There were a few people around the young people, old and young, but it was clear from their expressions that they were not the protagonists of the meeting. On the right is a man in leather armor, this man is not outstanding in appearance, but there is a spirit of fierceness that can only be produced by a hundred battles between his eyebrows, and he looks like a seasoned mercenary.

A faint aura of dark magic filled the air, but for a moment Ashruphat couldn't see where the source of this dark magic was.

"So you brought him here?" At this time, the question and answer with the bearded man was over. The main questions were asked by the mercenaries, and the pale young man asked only one or two, and the others did not speak. In other words, these two are the principals here.

Baron Pinod doesn't seem to be here. Of course, for this, Ashrufat is actually mentally prepared. After all, it was only a detachment last night, and it was normal that Baron Pinold was not personally led by it.

"Yes. The bearded man replied. The mercenary waved his hand and motioned for him to leave.

"You say you admire Baron Pinold?" the mercenary turned his gaze to Ashrufat. Judging from the tone of his voice, he seemed to think that Ashrufat's reason was ridiculous, but his expression seemed to agree with this reason.

"That's right. Ashrufat replied.

"Well, then, give me a proof that you are not a spy sent by the church or somebody. The mercenary's voice was mixed with obvious hostility. "If you can't produce evidence, then give me a reason not to kill you. ”

"The fact that I'm here alone is the best proof of this. Ashrufat shrugged, "If I were a spy, I would be followed by a large group of people." Even if there is no brigade, there are a few companions. ”

"I think if you're a secret spy arranged by the church, there's a good chance you're doing this on purpose to break into our interior. "The mercenaries were not convinced. He stood up, his gaze fixed on Ashrufat's face like a blade.

"The host...... This person has traces of biochemical modification on his body. In my mind, Carrie reminded.

"Holy Knights, people of the Church?" Ashruphat was shocked, but immediately denied the judgment. It can't be a member of the church, and Baron Pinold will never compromise with the church. However, Carrie's judgment will not be wrong, and she can only understand that the mercenary used to be a holy knight, but now for some reason, he has thrown himself under Baron Pinold.

This place may not be a lair, just a stronghold. Ashrufat thought of this a little absent-mindedly.

"Can't answer?" the mercenary's tone became stern.

"Wait a minute. A voice came from behind him, and then a man walked up from behind Ashrufat, "This one can't be a spy for the church. ”

After seeing who it was, Ashrufat was really a little surprised this time. The man who came in was Neil, the bard he had met in Oren and met again in the tavern last night.

Neil was dressed no different from last night, and even had his own harp in his hand. He walked past Ashrufat and sat down at the table. From his extremely natural movements, it can be seen that this man is one of the people here.

"Are you so sure?" the mercenary squinted at Neil.

"I've seen him in Oren...... yes, Ashrufat. The second half of Neil's sentence is addressed to Ashrufat. "Don't do that, Cade. For the rest, I can't guarantee that he wasn't sent by the church. ”

"It's been a long time since you've been back from Oren. The mercenary, or by his official name, Cade, questioned. "Things will change over time. For example, after you left, he was hired by the church, and even if it wasn't the church, it could have been sent by some country. ”

"The city of Oren, on its part, doesn't care about the affairs of Sylvania, that is, our affairs. Neil replied. "So there's no way he's coming from there. Not to mention the fact that the city of Oren has now been reduced to complete ruins by the Greenskins, and has even been taken over by the Shem. As for the rest, Ashruphat had only come to Sivania through the mountain road with the dragon more than ten days ago. As long as he is an official person, it is impossible to go down that dangerous path...... That's a gamble. ”

The words were strong, so Cade stopped talking.

"Aerufat, why do you want to come to Baron Pinold?" asked Neil.
