Section 1 Prisoners
Section 1 Prisoners
As everyone knows, a vampire is a monster that needs to drink the blood of a living person to keep himself immortal. Many believe that they are undead creatures, rotting corpses, but their own strong will and the magic of dark magic have brought them back to life. This theory stems from the fact that the vampire has neither breathing (which is questionable) nor having a heartbeat. However, it is also believed that vampires are living creatures, magical creatures that have been modified and improved from humans. The main basis for this belief is that vampires can have sexual relations with humans (or elves?).
However, this problem seems to be unsolvable, because it is almost impossible for us to catch a vampire and analyze it in detail. Of course, going to a vampire for consultation is just as ridiculous.
Whenever we take the origins of vampires more seriously, we always end up with an inescapable topic – the Dark City of Kalean, the realm of vampires. In this desert-isolated, far from other realms, where vampires are nobles and rulers, humans are commoners and dominants, and black magic prevails. This may indicate one thing, and that is that vampires don't need as much blood as we estimate. There has never been a living person in Kalean who is on the verge of extinction.
And there is no objection to the creation of Vampires in Callean. All the vampires come from their leader, the Queen of the Terrors, Jean Heart. Queen Lyreheart can live a method known as the "Blood Kiss", turning ordinary humans into vampires. Only the best and most outstanding are worthy of this honor and can be given this cursed eternal life.
And among the vampires derived from the Queen of the Qin Heart, they are also divided into high-level vampires and low-level vampires. The difference between the two is that the former can dominate the latter to a certain extent. Of course, we don't know why this difference will occur in the same way, and the only guess is that it may have something to do with the constitution of the converted, or if it is two different ways.
But where did Kotoshin come from, and why did she become the queen of Callean? The relevant records have long been lost to history, and only a few words are left in the scrolls. Of course, most of these documents are unavailable, and their content is full of loopholes and contradictions.
From these accounts, we can deduce a story of the origin of vampires, a myth-like story, half-guess-and-half-guess.
Back in ancient times, the Kabeids (?) who lived in Kalean were conquered and enslaved by their barbaric neighbors, the desert people (?). Although these oppressed people rebelled more than once, in the end, these revolts were suppressed. Their largest and most revoltive uprising was the result of the same.
At the end of the uprising, the rebels were besieged in a castle on the edge of a desert, including numerous women and children. These people demanded surrender, but were coldly refused. Because these slave owners are tired of such repeated uprisings. They were determined to teach a thorough lesson to these daring recklessness who dared to rise up and resist.
These unfortunate people are in despair, the enemy has cut off the water supply, and the end is not far off. This utter despair caused them to surge with hatred like never before. They no longer desire their own safety and do not expect to be saved, but only want to punish these cruel enemies severely. Eventually, they set in motion an ancient, bloody ritual of unknown origin (and undoubtedly never performed).
They selected a thousand sacrifices and performed blood sacrifices, all of which were killed by the hands of those who loved them most. The sacrifice gives blood and despair, while the executor offers tears and pain. The priests among them prayed to the underworld in the midst of blood and tears, calling for the attention of unknown evil forces. When this ritual reached its climax, the power of hatred and pain directly tore apart the world.
Huge red fireballs were seen sweeping across the sky, falling from beyond the firmament and striking directly into the land of Kalean. After a shake that shook enough to knock everyone down, the unfortunate ones found that the enemy forces outside the castle had disappeared. At the location of the enemy camp, a huge crater appeared, where the fireball had just hit.
Konsin, the queen of vampires and the source of dark magic, emerges from the pit and stands in absolute terror on this land, accepting the kowtow of the Kabeids.
——————— from "On Vampires"
The sword is flying.
Scar turns sideways, dodges the first attack, then blocks the second and third with his shield. The other party made a big flaw because of the excessive force. If he takes advantage of the gap to attack, he should be able to knock him down with a single hit.
But Scar didn't attack. He just stepped back, shielding himself with his shield.
Another round of attack, defense, and dodge. Scar slowly retreated, circling in circles, only striking out his sword to fight back and force his opponent back when he was most forced to do so. This has been going on for a long time, causing boos in the gladiatorial arena. It was clear that the audience had completely lost interest in the long, boring, cringe-inducing, and passionless battle.
The bell rang, which was the signal to end the gladiatorial fight. Scar jumps backwards, pulling the distance between each other large enough.
He looked back at the entrance, where the previously locked door was slowly opening. The battle is indeed over. The two opponents retreated and left the arena through different entrances and exits.
When he walked through the entrance, he finally breathed a sigh of relief. Once again, he won the bet.
Two human guards approached and took the sword and shield from him. Then he walked down the long aisle to the lounge at the other end.
In the lounge, a dozen gladiators sat or lay down. The lounge had a narrow observation window, allowing the gladiators resting inside to see the fighting in the arena. So when Scar walked into the lounge, everyone looked at him.
"You could have won. Someone said. "You've had several chances to do well. ”
"But I couldn't grasp it, the other side is very strong and can't be ignored. ”
"It's a good thing, when two people who are both defensive come together, it will become like this. Someone excused him.
"Next, a group battle of eight!" shouted the guard outside the break room. So most of the people walked out. In the blink of an eye, there were only three people left in the entire lounge.
"You can win, why don't you win?" said another man after a brief silence.
Scar glanced at the other person, and it was an unfamiliar face. In fact, every day for a year, familiar faces disappear and unfamiliar faces join. In the beginning, most of them were ordinary soldiers, but now there are more real knights. From the words revealed by these new faces, everyone knows that the war is still going on. Moreover, Kalean won more than one battle.
"It doesn't make sense. Scar replied.
The daily gladiatorial program is fixed, with the first show of man and beast, and the second, third, and fourth shows of one-on-one solo combat. The last one is a group fight. The winner is born, and the injured in time will be taken care of, and the loser will die, even if there is still a breath, he will be slaughtered directly.
But Scar knows that, in essence, the audience of Callean wants to see the bloody gladiatorial fight itself, not the life and death of the gladiator. In fact, the latter has never been the content of concern. When there is one of those long-lasting, passionless battles, the bell rings in the arena to put an end to the terrible game.
The unfamiliar face smiled.
"Your name is Scar, like they all call you that. ”
The muscles on Scar's face twitched, and the words seemed to touch some pain in his heart. When he first arrived, half of the Sin Squad was still alive. Now he was left alone, and the name "Scar" that had been recognized by everyone. The old man's casual nickname was now his only name.
"My name is Lacey," the man disagreed. "The knight of Ryan's kingdom, or rather, was once a knight of Ryan. I can tell you're from Ryan too, huh...... Are you a knight too?"
Scar still didn't answer, just turned his head to look out the window. Now, two teams of gladiators are entering the gladiatorial arena, ready to fight for their lives.
"I was captured four months ago...... And then it was sent here. How long have you been here?"
"Two years. ”
"It seems that you really are a non-talkative person. ”
"Maybe. ”
"I don't know what these vampires are thinking...... Reis also looked at the gladiatorial arena, and the two teams of gladiators were cautiously looking at each other as they approached.
Few people can understand the purpose of this practice of vampires. Vampires are not interested in torture, interrogation, ransom, etc., and instead prefer to have their captives engage in bloody gladiatorial fights for fun. According to legend, the favorite thing for vampires to do is to suck the blood of living people, and this behavior does not happen to captives.
"You haven't told me why you didn't kill your opponent just now?" Lacey asked softly as he walked behind Scar. "I know that person is no match for you. ”
"There is no point in killing him. Scar finally replied. "Killing him doesn't change anything, I'm still a prisoner, and I'm going to have to fight another person again in a few days. ”
"Should I say are you stupid, or are you too confident? Lacey pointed out the window. "See there?"
He was not referring to the gladiators who were tempting, but to a corner on the edge of the arena. The arena was not fenced off on flat ground. In more detail, the Colosseum consists of four octagonal platforms on the water, which are communicated by bridges. Of course, the pools around the arena were not water, but gurgling green acid.
The location that Reis is referring to is a prominent ornamental balcony in the middle of the Colosseum, a unique structure. From this balcony, you can enjoy the gladiatorial show from the best angle.
