Section 15 Rest
Verse 15: Rest
"It's a big city. William Daley looked at the length of the gate and let out an unfinished smack.
"Don't do that, people will think you're going to be a hillbilly!" Leo replied with a smile. "You haven't been to the Noble Academy, have you?"
"Why should I go somewhere? My father said that it was expensive and far away, and it was easy to demoralize young people!"
"yes, so now you can neither read nor write. I don't even know how much I can earn every year. ”
"Why should I learn this? If I have to know my annual income, find a bookkeeper!"
"Okay, okay, you don't fight. Ashruphat stepped in between the two men. After staying together for a long time, he has slowly become familiar with everyone's spleen and stomach. William Daley has always prided himself on being illiterate (though Eshurufat doesn't understand what there is to be proud of), while Leo is proud that he went to the academy and learned a lot from books. They are good friends, and this is the reason for every time they quarrel.
But the quarrel is a quarrel, and the two of them don't really do it. This is because Leo is self-aware. If they do clash, he is no match for William Daly at all. Although William Daley was illiterate, he was the best in the army in terms of arm strength, martial arts, and alcohol.
Leo is strange at times. A reckless man like William Daley, who doesn't know what to do, is very jealous of Eshurufat. Maybe it was the failure of that fight, or maybe something else. Ashrufat was clearly well-educated, polite, and never rude to anyone. Of course, battlefield against enemy is another matter.
A small spat subsided. Leo begins to introduce the city to two companions, one of whom lacks knowledge and the other is from a foreign land.
"The city of Loren is the largest city of Saint-Jean and has been the capital of Saint-Jean since it was founded two hundred years ago. Here are some of the best wines and beauties in the country. When he said the last word, he saw a girl with a beprising figure walking around the street corner, and couldn't help but whistle.
"It's hard to live without alcohol in the barracks. Even a little beer would be fine. William Daly muttered.
The war has come to an end for the time being. The Greyhound Knights have been wiped out, and Princess Irina and Her Majesty Rangier have left Sedin for the city of Loren. It has been nearly twenty years since His Majesty Basket Gil announced his retirement, and this royal city has not had an owner. So tonight, there will be a grand ball to welcome Princess Irina to her stay.
According to unwritten rules, ordinary knights, that is, the rank of Leo and William Daley, were not eligible for such a royal ball. Although Ashrufat was made a count, his count was definitely shrunk, and it was equally impossible to receive an invitation. But now they are all lieutenants of the great general, Count Thomas, and their identities are immediately completely different.
In fact, of the four lieutenants, only Ryan was probably the only one who was eligible to receive the invitation directly - his father was a duke, and he was a royal branch of St. Jean, and his mother also had Cassilos' royal blood on his side. Although Ryan himself is the second son in the family, his brother is not in good health, and the inheritance is likely to fall on him. If this really happened, then he inherited the title of count. Even if he didn't get the right to inherit the throne, he would be able to inherit the title of Thomas (with the proper help of his family, of course) - at least a baron.
"Listen, everyone, we have a full day off today!" Leo announced loudly as he watched the girl's figure disappear. "It's still early for the evening dance, so we have plenty of time to have fun!"
"The dance party in the evening, the question is...... It's still morning, isn't it?" replied Ashrufat.
"Don't be so brainless! You must know that now the nobles and their families from all over the country are gathered here. Now there are so many beautiful ladies to choose from!" Leo's eyes looked at another slender figure in the street, not at all hearing what Ashrufat said.
"But we don't have a way!" reminded Ashrufat. Although Leo was a beautiful young man, he was only a knight from the mountains (and for that alone, he was discriminated against to some extent), the lowest of the entire aristocratic society, and it was difficult to win the favor of the ladies and ladies.
Although in the battle with the gray hound, everyone has accumulated a lot of credit. But everybody knows that these merits are usually rewarded with some precious goods. The difficulty of being promoted to a baron, although not as exaggerated as the canonization of a knight by the militia, is definitely a difficult barrier to overcome.
Moreover, as Princess Irina completed the actual domination of St. Jean, many famous nobles led troops to join Thomas Smith. It is almost impossible for the four of them to continue in the promising position of lieutenant general.
Perhaps Ryan is an exception.
A vague shadow flickered across the ground, and something flew in the sky.
"What's that?"
"It's Pegasus Knight!" Leo replied. "Sure enough, the guys from the south are here. ”
"Pegasus?" Ashrufat couldn't help but think about the flying animals in the sky.
"Master, if you wish, you can make a flying mount out of black magic. Carrie suggested in her head.
"Ashrufat, you don't have to look, people like us can't get Pegasus. Even in the South, only the wealthiest and most influential knights could proudly boast of a combat-trained Pegasus, for these creatures were difficult to capture and even harder to tame. ”
"If you can fly into the sky, then what city can't be captured?" he suddenly thought of the question.
"It's useless. You see them flying so high, it's because Pegasus doesn't have any armor. When the people and centaurs are all put on their armor, Pegasus can't fly very high, and they can't fly fast. And Pegasus is not the same thing as War Horse. This animal can only recognize one owner in its life, and will never allow a second butt to move on their back, even if the owner is holding a second person. Some people say that this is a good quality of loyalty and nobility, and I just think it's a pity. Besides, there are so few Pegasus. Presumably, we in St. Jean can gather two hundred or three hundred Pegasus knights. All it takes is a thousand archers to stop them from approaching the walls. ”
Leo shifted his gaze from the Pegasus in the sky back to the ground. I regretted that I couldn't find the slender back just now.
Pegasus eventually disappears. William Daly and Esseurofat reluctantly turned back.
"By the way, where did Ryan go?" Ashoruphat asked suddenly.
"That boy has already gone to the city, and he is probably busy paying his respects to the princess at this moment!"
Of the four lieutenants, Ryan is the only one who is out of place. At the end of the day, it's because he looks down on other people. So all three of them don't have a good impression of Ryan, and basically get used to calling him "that kid". In the army, they also do not have any common language. Aside from the necessary command transmission and communication, both William Daley and Leo were very estranged from Ryan. As for Ashrufat, even more so, their relationship has not been good since that night's conflict. If it weren't for Thomas, they might not have been able to work together.
They walked all the way down the street. William Daly tried to enter a tavern, but was held back by two companions.
"We can drink the best wine in the evening, and that is the wine that has been kept in the royal cellar for at least twenty years! Why do you waste your time in such a tavern? If you are too drunk to walk, then you have missed the great opportunity of this evening?"
This remark finally made William Daly restrain his drinking worm. Reluctantly left the tavern.
"We're here, and the main goal is to find the right woman. "Leo has set a goal.
"I have a wife. "William Daly was not interested in this topic.
"Yes, you drank a month ago. That doesn't stop you from wanting to drink a little more today, does it? Not to mention that Ashrufat and I are both unmarried. ”
"Master, don't forget that you're married. Carrie's voice flickered.
Having said that, there are indeed a lot of aristocratic women in this city. From time to time, you can see richly dressed noblewomen walking through the streets with servants or maids.
They came to a square. There are a lot of pedestrians here, and many vendors take advantage of the excitement to set up stalls here. By the pool in the center of the square, many women are lingering.
Leo stopped suddenly, his face filled with heartfelt joy.
"Ashrufat, William Daley, looks like I have to go first!" he said goodbye to his two companions. "Don't worry, I'll be there on time in the evening!" he hurried away. Ashrufat noticed him running towards a group of women and saluted one of them. The latter didn't seem to refuse, smiling and holding out a hand to Leo. The two men held hands and disappeared into the crowd at once, never to be found again.
William Daly glanced around boredly, his eyes suddenly stopping somewhere.
It was a large signboard with the words "Fruit Wine" written on it, and a very clear picture of the fruit wine that anyone could see. Vivid and realistic drawings that instantly arouse the desire of a person.
"Fruit wine...... It's not wine! It's just a small snack, it doesn't affect the main meal! Ashrufat, let's go have a drink! I'm in for a treat!"
"No, thank you. "Ashruphat has no interest in wine at all.
"Then we'll see you in the evening, don't worry, I won't let myself get drunk!" William Daly said resolutely.
Now, only one person in the square, Ashrufat, remains. He didn't know what to do for a moment.
"Master, I suggest we should practice our magic while we have time!" Carrie suggested in her mind. "I haven't practiced in a while. ”
"My lord, can I buy a flower?" a timid voice sounded at his feet. Ashrufat saw that it was a little girl no more than ten years old, with a basket of flowers in her hand. The little girl looked up at him eagerly.
"What am I going to spend it for? And I don't have any money. ”
"You can give it to the woman you want. And you're a nobleman, so you won't be short of a few cents. ”
"I'm a count, but I'm poor. Ashrufat sighed. He reached out and pulled out the last few coppers from his empty wallet and bought the bouquet of flowers.
