Chapter Eighty-Seven: The Trapped Beast

Updated: 2012-08-16

Through the tarp, the light in the cage appeared dim and yellow. However, in this dim light and shadow, there were gray beast pupils lit up. Then, a flash of lightning popped out of the prison.

The shock buzzed and quivered, and after a moment it stabilized, maintaining its claw-like form. Behemoth used its electric claw, which popped out of its fingertips, to pick up a piece of meat from the cage that was contained between the iron plates. The high heat of the electric claw immediately caused the place where the meat slice was picked up to be quickly cooked, and after a while, the smell of burnt meat wafted out of the cage.

Behemoth put the meat to his nose and sniffed it, and the image of a steel-clawed giant rat came to mind. This mutated giant rat lives underground for many years, feeding on mud and rotting corpses. Their claws are harder than steel and sharper than sabers to allow giant rats to move underground. However, their flesh is not delicious at all, and they have been eating radioactive mud and corpses for many years, which makes the muscle fibers of giant rats carry corresponding violent toxins.

Of course, in terms of Behemoth's physical fitness, this bit of toxin has not yet been taken into account. It's just that the giant rat still has sour meat slices, which really makes it unable to whet its appetite.

Behemoth suddenly misses the uninhibited life he had in his hometown.

The southwestern land, which is regarded as a forbidden land in the eyes of humans, is a paradise of life in the eyes of Behemoth. There, the strong life spirit of countless human beings unknown is in that mysterious land. Animals, plants, and humanoids are everywhere. Before Elktown was rebuilt, all life followed the principles of the jungle and lived each day hard but to the fullest.

However, after Elktown was rebuilt, the increasing human activity prevented many young beings, including Behemoth, from stepping into that gray area. But young life often has a rebellious factor flowing in its blood. Behemoth is no exception, as one of the most formidable species in the Southwest, Behemoth, who is naturally capable of using thunder and lightning as his weapon, does not take those seemingly fragile humans into account.

The beast that committed the original sin of arrogance, inadvertently enters the gray area during a hunt. But Behemoth had no immediate intention of exiting the buffer zone and returning to the depths of the earth. Instead, when he saw a group of humans appear right under his nose, Behemoth suddenly wanted a change of taste.

And so the conflict ensued, and the sudden appearance of Behemoth and his domineering abilities caused the humans to suffer. Their individual abilities are not necessarily huge, but through cooperation, combined with some tools that Behemoth has never seen. In the end, at the cost of 11 lives, it was captured alive.

After that, Behemoth was put in such a huge cage. Its hands and feet were shackled with steel needles embedded in it, which were pierced into Behemoth's body, straight into some of its joints. These things allowed Behemoth to move only slightly, and if he moved too vigorously, the steel needles that were pressing on his bones and nerves would release high-voltage currents, paralyzing his bodily functions.

Behemoth was able to use lightning as a weapon, but his body was not necessarily equipped to resist high-voltage currents. After several futile resistances, Behemoth suddenly realized that he could not go back. As the little human girl said during the day, even if it was let go, it wouldn't find its way home.

Thinking of this, Behemoth's breathing suddenly intensified. Silent rage crept into his heart again, and the beast let out a thunderous roar, slamming the palm of the giant rat's flesh into the cage. The sharp claws made of IP gripped at the cage, creating a bright spark of electricity. But apart from slapping the cage slightly trembling, it didn't make the slightest achievement.

This cage is deceptively simple, but its material is very special. Even Behemoth's electric claws could not leave a single scratch on the cage. The strenuous exercise compressed the steel needles in the bones and blood, and then released a high-voltage current of 1500V, which made Behemoth scream and his huge body fell heavily to the bottom of the cage.

It gasped violently, and the high-voltage electrical current caused its nervous response to become disordered and slow. Therefore, an exclamation from outside the cage fell to Behemoth's ears as if it were coming from far away.

The tarp was suddenly lifted in the corner, and a childish face appeared in Behemoth's black vertical pupils.

Behemoth remembered the girl, who had seen her during the day. If it weren't for the sudden mania that triggered the high-voltage electricity to temporarily paralyze his body, Behemoth swore that he would tear this pretty little face apart with his electric claws. It hated humans, whether it was the hateful pot-bellied man or the beautiful girl in front of him, as long as it was human, Behemoth would never like them.

Moni looked at Behemoth, the beast strange she hadn't expected.

Behemoth has a lion-like head, but a body with a long mane is humanoid. Behind it stretched a pair of eagle wings that clinged to its body, but it was a pity that the giant cage restrained its freedom, otherwise Moni would have been able to see it soaring through the sky.

Behemoths are supposed to be kings who live freely in the jungle, not goods trapped in cages.

Moni suddenly felt a slight soreness in her nose, and when she saw Behemoth during the day, she felt that the beast had a lot in common with herself. Now, this feeling is even stronger.

Seeing Behemoth twitch slightly, the beast's pupils showing a look of pain, Moni stretched out her white arms and leaned into the cage without even realizing it.

Behemoth let out a menacing growl in his throat, God knows how much it wanted to bite off the snow-white arms, and then groaned in pain as it watched the humans in front of it. But it couldn't move now, so it could only watch as the little girl gently pressed her hand to her face.

Then, a heavenly song floated out of Moni's mouth.

The most ordinary lullaby, when sung from Moni's mouth with her eyes closed, has a strange magic. Listening to the song as soft as breathing, the mania and fury in Behemoth's eyes quietly subsided. Moni's singing reminded it of her homeland, and on every quiet night, Behemoth liked to fly to the highest mountain of the earth, where she quietly listened to the wind high above.

In the midst of Mony's singing, Behemoth gradually quieted down, and even looked at Moni's gaze softened. The beast slowly closed its eyes, a drop of cloudy liquid appeared in the corner of its eye, and then quietly disappeared between the brown fluff.

It occurred to Behemoth that perhaps not all humans were so hateful.

At least, the human girl in front of it wasn't so annoying in its eyes anymore.

However, just as the girl and the giant beast in the warehouse were enjoying a rare moment of silence, the door of the warehouse was suddenly opened, and Campbell's voice rang out: "Quick, pull that big guy out of here." Hey, little girl, why are you here?"
