The Wandering Era

Previous Chapter

When I recall all this, half a century has passed. Twenty years ago, the Earth sailed out of Pluto's orbit and out of the solar system, continuing its lonely voyage in the cold desert of outer space.

The last time I went to the ground was more than ten years ago, and it was my son and daughter-in-law who accompanied me, and my daughter-in-law is a blonde girl who is about to become a mother.

When I got to the ground, the first thing I noticed was that while all the Earth's engines were still running at full power, the huge pillars of light were not visible, because the Earth's atmosphere had disappeared and the plasma light was not scattered. I saw that the ground was covered with strange yellow-green translucent crystals, which were solid oxygen and nitrogen, frozen air.

Interestingly, the air does not freeze evenly on the earth's surface, but instead forms irregular bulges like small hills, and these translucent hills form a peculiar landscape on the otherwise smooth sea ice sheet. The galaxy of the Milky Way streaks across the sky without moving, as if frozen, but the starlight is very bright, and it is still dazzling after looking at it for a long time.

The Earth's engine will run non-stop for 500 years, when the Earth will accelerate to 5/1000th of the speed of light, and then the Earth will glide at that speed for 1,300 years, after which the Earth will be two-thirds of its voyage, and it will reverse the direction of the engine and start decelerating for 500 years. The Earth reaches Proxima Centauri after 2,400 years of travel, and in another 100 years, it will be docked into the star's orbit and become one of its moons.

I know it's forgotten

The voyage of wandering is too long and too long

But you're going to call me at that moment

When the sun shines again in the east

I know it's forgotten

The time to set sail is too far away

But you're going to call me at that moment

When humanity sees the blue sky again

I know it's forgotten

The solar system has been in the past for too long, too long

But you're going to call me at that moment

When the flowers are hung back on the branches

......

Every time I heard this song, a warm current poured into my old and stiff body, and my dry old eyes moistened again. It was as if I saw the three golden suns in the constellation Centauri rising one after another on the horizon, and everything was bathed in its warm light. The solid air melted and turned into a blue sky. The seeds of more than 2,000 years ago have been revived from the thawing soil, and the earth is green. I saw my hundredth generation of grandchildren laughing in the green prairie with a clear stream and small silver fish in the stream...... I saw Kayoko, she ran towards me from the green earth, young and beautiful, like an angel......

Ah, Earth, my wandering Earth......
