The most basic precepts of Buddhism are called the "Five Precepts and Ten Virtues", and its core content is: "One heart is good, and nothing is evil", which is the foundation of Buddhism beginners and must be learned.

The five rings are: one does not kill, two does not steal, three does not commit adultery, four does not lie, and five does not drink. These five precepts are the basic precepts of all Buddhist disciples, and they should be observed regardless of whether they are monks or at home.

1. Precept of Killing: The basic concept of Buddhism is that all beings are equal. The Buddha said that all living beings have Buddha nature and can become Buddhas. When the Buddha speaks of sentient beings, he does not just refer to human beings, but the wetting of the fetus and eggs, including the genus of the four beings. Therefore, the precept of killing not only does not harm human life, but also does not harm the life of animals, insects and ants. For example, a fisherman is killed directly, and a person who sells hunting equipment and nets is also an indirect aid.

In the Sutra of the Ten Virtuous Karmas, the Buddha said that there are ten kinds of benefits for not killing, which are: 1) to be fearless to all sentient beings, 2) to always have great compassion for all sentient beings, 3) to stop all hatred and habits forever, 4) to be free from illness in the body, 5) to live a long life, 6) to be constantly guarded by non-human beings, 7) to always have no nightmares and sleep happily, 8) to eliminate grievances and resolve all grievances, 9) to be free from evil and fearful, and 10) to live for life.

2. Stealing precepts: Theft on the rivers and lakes is direct, indirect, tangible and intangible, such as thieves stealing, robbers robbing, direct theft, corruption and fraud of corrupt officials and corrupt officials are indirect theft, extortion and fraud, denial of debts, is tangible theft, fake public and private, fishing in troubled waters is invisible theft. In short, taking property without permission or obtaining it by improper means is called theft.

The Buddha said that there are ten kinds of benefits in not stealing: 1) the accumulation of wealth, the king thief, the fire and water, and the non-beloved son, cannot be dispersed, 2) many people love and remember, 3) people do not bully, 4) the ten sides praise, 5) not be harmed, 6) good celebrities and celebrities, 7) fearless in dealing with the public, 8) wealth and life, color and happiness, and perfect eloquence, 9) always have charity, and 10) life for life.

3. Precepts of fornication: The four disciples of Buddhism are divided into monks and those who are at home, those who are monks do not abstain from prostitution at all, and those who are at home only abstain from adultery. The so-called sexual immorality refers to sexual intercourse other than that of a formal spouse, and sexual intercourse that is not at the same time or in a different place. In addition, it is forbidden to set foot in any cause of sexual immorality, such as dance halls, singing halls, prostitution brothels, etc.

The Buddha said that there are several benefits of staying away from sexual immorality: 1) the roots are in tune, 2) they are forever away from the noise, 3) they are praised by the world, and 4) they cannot be invaded.

Fourth, the precept of lies: not seeing words, not seeing words, hypocrisy and exaggeration, and covering up with words, are all lies. Lying lies are not only deceiving, but also self-deceptive.

The Buddha said that if you are free from nonsense, you have the following benefits: 1) your mouth is always pure, and you are fragrant with flowers, 2) you are subdued by the worlds, 3) you speak as a testimony, and people respect and love you, 4) you always comfort sentient beings with love words, 5) you are happy to win, and your three karmas are pure, 6) your words are correct, 7) you speak with respect, and people practice them, and 8) your wisdom is special and you are incapable of subduing them.

5. Drinking abstinence: Some people think that drinking alcohol with net wealth will not harm others, why is it also listed as a precept? Wine is the medium. There are 36 mistakes in drinking, such as bad color, lack of prestige, loss of reputation, loss of wisdom, sickness, waste of money, shamelessness, disrespect, falling into a car, falling into the water, and so on.

The wise man draws inferences from one another, and it can be seen that wine is harmful.

The so-called ten virtues refer to not killing, not stealing, not committing adultery, not lying, not double-tongued, not speaking evilly, not patting horses, not being greedy, not being angry, and not deviating from the Dharma.

1. Those who do not kill and do not kill are said to not harm all material lives, that is, the goodness of stopping killing. If you don't kill you, you should do the good of releasing life.

2. Those who do not steal and do not steal are said not to steal other people's property, which is the good thing to stop stealing. If you do not steal, you should do good.

3. Those who do not commit sexual immorality are said to have abstained from sexual immorality. If you are not guilty of sexual immorality, you should do the good deeds of purity and Brahmanism.

Fourth, those who do not lie and do not lie cannot be said to lie and deceive others, which is the good thing to stop lying. Neither lie, but do what is good in truth.

Fifth, he who does not have two tongues, and does not speak twice, is not to talk to both sides, and to make him fight, that is, to stop the goodness of two tongues. Neither double-tongued, but do what is good in harmony with interests.

6. Those who do not speak evil and do not speak evilly are said not to speak harshly and insult others, that is, to stop the good of evil words. He does not speak evilly, but does what is good with soft words.

Seventh, those who do not speak and do not speak are said to be gorgeous words, which are pleasant to hear, that is, the goodness of stopping words. Neither gossip, but also be honest and good.

8. Those who are not greedy and do not greed are said not to be greedy for lust and dust, that is, the goodness of stopping greed. If you are not greedy, you should do the good deeds of purity and Brahmanism.

9. Those who do not resent, do not resent, say that they do not have a heart of anger, and hatred against others is the goodness of stopping anger. Neither resentment, but the goodness of forbearance.

10. Those who do not have evil views and do not have evil views are said to be not biased and dissensive, and they insist on what is wrong, that is, they are good at stopping evil views. If you do not have evil views, you should do what is right and what is right.

Mu Guitian was stunned, suddenly laughed, and said: "Isn't Buddhism particular about wine and meat passing through the intestines, and the Buddha is left in his heart?"

Nie Donglai hurriedly looked around, and saw that no one had noticed Mu Guitian's words, so he said solemnly: "Fatty, be cautious, don't you know the truth that comes from the mouth?"

Although as a friend, he understood that Mu Guitian had no malicious intentions, but if others heard this, he might think what he would think?

Mu Guitian's face turned straight and asked, "Then have you ever shaved your face?"

Nie Donglai shook his head and said, "No!"

Mu Guitian said again: "Have you ever performed a refuge ceremony? Have you ever burned incense and made offerings?"

Nie Donglai shook his head again and said, "No!"

"Isn't that all there is to it?"

Mu Guitian clapped his hands and said, "You haven't even held a refuge ceremony, why are you all from the Buddhist sect?"

As we all know, if you want to take refuge in Buddhism, a refuge ritual is essential.

Nie Donglai thought about it and felt that what he said was also reasonable, but after thinking about it, he felt that it was reasonable, so he said, "But I studied under Buddhism!"

Mu Guitian spread his hands and said, "Then what can it mean? It can only show that you know that you belong to the master of the Buddhism, that's all, since even your master has not asked you to take refuge in Buddhism, then there must be his reason, why should you bother yourself?"

Nie Donglai was silent, thinking about it, since in the past six years, Master had never mentioned the matter of letting him take refuge, and when he left Lingtai Mountain, Master didn't say anything except to take care of himself, it was obvious that Master knew in his heart that sooner or later he would leave, or he knew very well in his heart what kind of path he would take in the future.

He didn't speak, Mu Guitian didn't speak either, just looked at him quietly, he believed that with Nie Donglai's intelligence, it was impossible not to guess the clues, he basically didn't think about it at this level before, even if he occasionally paused, he wouldn't pay attention to it, that was because he didn't want to accept this idea in his heart, but now he broke it with a word, which was equivalent to indirectly helping Nie Donglai to completely expose this fact.

After a while, Nie Donglai smiled bitterly: "Maybe you're right!"
