This is the hardest part of all blind tasting competitions, and many participants are almost blind to guess in this part.

Some people look at the color of the wine, judging by the hue, shade, and edge of the color, and it is said that these will change slowly with the vintage.

For example, as many red wines age, the intensity of the edge color and body color will become lighter and lighter, and the hue will evolve from deep purple to deep red, ruby red, garnet red, brick red and then to the tan like Pu'er tea, and the older the vintage, the lighter the tone.

However, there are exceptions, and some of the wines from the world's most expensive winery, Romanée Conti, are said to have a mysterious red color after more than a decade of ageing.

Some people look at smell and taste.

Good wines have about three layers of aromas, from the fruity aromas of the first layer, the fermentation and maturation in oak barrels of the second layer, such as spices, vanilla, cream, coconut, smoked, toasted, to the third layer of aromas produced after aging, such as various spices, game, animal skins, forest leaves.

However, these only give a rough clue to the vintage range, and it is very difficult to guess exactly what a particular wine is in.

The 1985 Cask 23 was selected by the British wine magazine Decanter as one of the 100 must-drink wines of this lifetime.

This Cask 23, the No. 23 Cask Cabernet Sauvignon from Deer Leap Cellars, was a favorite of US President Ronald Reagan.

When U.S. President Ronald Reagan hosted Gorbachev at the White House, he drank the No. 23 barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Deer Leap Wine Cellar!

Queen Elizabeth II also used it to celebrate President Reagan's wedding anniversary on her private yacht.

In 1972, Deer Leap Cellars began to make wine, and the following year it produced a masterpiece – the 1973 cask 23, which won the 1976 Paris International Blind Tasting Competition, beating out the French wines to win the competition!

Since then, Deer Leap Wine Cellar has become famous like a carp jumping over the dragon gate, and has become a world-recognized "first-class famous wine" in the United States.
