Orlens, the continent of Oberia.

New Era 1832.

Monsters are almost extinct, and the age of witchers is over.

In 1886, outside the town in the southwest of the continent of Oberia.

Hervin lowered his body, slowed his breathing, and half-squatted downwind, waiting patiently.

"Whoa. ”

The bushes made an unusual noise.

The witcher's pupils shrank like a feline, and the muscles under his skin tensed subconsciously.

Shout!

The bow flew out like lightning, cutting through the dense foliage, taking its life before the target could react.

The brown-haired man smiled and steadily walked towards his prey that had fallen to the ground.

A young red deer, with an arrow piercing its eye so precisely that it didn't even have time to realize its death.

Hervin took out a knife from his bosom and began at the abdomen, separating the red deer's fur from its body with precision and speed.

The hunter picked up the red deer and fur with one hand and walked towards the town.

"Uncle Herwin!" a blonde boy of about sixteen years old shouted at the hunter as he waved his hands at the town gate.

Hervin laughed and shouted:

"Little Jimmy, how many times have I told you, I'm still young, don't call me uncle. ”

To be honest, he might look in his twenties if he didn't have a beard, but his full beard and infrequently groomed hair make him look like a handsome uncle with good maintenance.

Herwin handed the venison to Jimmy, and the boy reached for it and placed it in the cart beside him.

Hervin opened his mouth and said:

"Take this with your father, and settle it with the previous money, I don't accept credit. ”

Jimmy patted the venison with his hand, squeezed it gently, and then said with a grin:

"Uncle Hewen and we are all so acquainted, Daddy will definitely not owe you money, then again, venison and red wine are indispensable for banquets. ”

Jimmy looked at the deerskin again and asked curiously:

"Need me help you?"

Hewen thought for a moment before shaking his head and saying:

"Forget it, I'll do it myself, and your errands aren't cheap. ”

Jimmy smiled and grabbed the handle of the car:

"Alright, Uncle Hewen, I'll go first. ”

Jimmy shook his hand again, pushing his cart while humming a country tune and slowly returning home.

Herwin smiled and shook his head, turning towards a two-story wooden house on the edge of town.

Surrounded by ash trees and bushes, it was evident that Herwen's house was at a distance from the rest of the town.

Because of the eerie look of the house, when he first arrived, there were even rumors in the town that he was a terrifying wizard, and the house was full of human skulls, floating candles, crystal balls and the like.

Thinking of this, Hervin couldn't help but feel a little funny, he opened the door, went into the basement, and spread the deerskin on the table.

Herwin opened a blanket covered in strange symbols, lightly dipped the bison blood in the bottle with a brush, and smeared it wantonly on the deerskin.

"The ancient ancestors of Oberia used to attract the spirits of this world with the fur and blood of wild beasts, so that their power rested on the skins, which were the original witchcraft scrolls. ”

Herwin took another handful of powder, sprinkled it on the half-formed scroll, and soaked it in some kind of odorless cyan liquid for a few seconds.

The deerskin shrank, and it didn't take long for a two-palm-sized scroll of sorcery to take shape.

Hervin whispered three syllables:

"Ahh

As Herwin clenched his hands, the sorcery scroll spontaneously burst into flames, and a stream of turquoise smoke was born in the flames, and the smoke swirled gently in mid-air before slamming into the brown-haired man's skin.

In the darkness, Hewen's eyes also seemed to light up with a strange green light, making him look a little more terrifying.

"It's still not enough, if it goes on like this, ......"

Hewen paused as if he remembered something, and then smiled helplessly:

"At least alive. ”

Knock, knock, knock.

Subtle sounds, inaudible to normal humans, reached the ears of the witchers.

It is the main entrance.

Herwin looked at himself, and after making sure that he was neatly dressed, he walked back to the first floor and slowly opened the door.

There were three men standing outside the door, led by a middle-aged man in his forties, who was none other than Mr. Mayor of the town.

Behind him on the left is a tall, thin man in a suit, while on the right is a muscular man in an overcoat.

And these two people, without exception, are full of the unconscious arrogance and contempt of the elite, and they seem to look down on Hewen as a "rural" hunter from the bottom of their hearts.

Mayor Mare's first words:

"Mr. Herwen, these two are detectives from Aaron's City, they are looking for a heinous and dangerous fugitive, I heard that you are very familiar with the environment in this area, if you don't mind, can you help find it together?"

Hewen shook his head and said:

"I'd love to be able to help you, but I'm afraid I won't have the time to track down the fugitives with you. ”

The mayor of the town persuaded in a sincere and firm tone:

"It won't take you much time, and that fugitive has already killed many civilians, I know it's bothering you, but as mayor of the town, I can't watch the kids in town fall into danger and remain indifferent. ”

The tall and thin man also interjected and said:

"We'll pay you for your loss, ten pounds a day, and a hundred pounds in advance. ”

Although the tall and thin man's tone had a pride that came from the bone marrow, the words he said were surprisingly polite.

Hervin raised his eyebrows, a hundred pounds was a lot of money, even if many ordinary workers in the city couldn't earn that amount in a year.

However, for various reasons, Hervin still does not intend to agree:

"I'm sorry, I can't spare time. ”

Even the mayor of the town on the side couldn't help but be a little surprised, even if it was his salary, it was just over a hundred pounds a year, Hewen was not impressed at all, it seemed that he was going to get to know the townsman again.

The two people behind him glanced at each other, and the tall and thin man nodded:

"Well, we won't bother you. ”

Then he said to the mayor:

"You probably know someone else who can recommend it to us. ”

The town came back to his senses and quickly nodded:

"Of course, of course. I'll take you there. The mayor turned to Hewen and said, "See you, Mr. Herwin." ”

"See you later. Herwin nodded.

Hewen watched the three of them fade away, and he didn't plan to close the door until they disappeared from Hewen's sight.

However, a noise that should not have been heard came from not far from his house.

The hunter sniffled:

"Looks like there's new prey again. ”
