Chapter 1: The Time for Youth (1)

Tu Nan calendar Dingrui thirty-two years.

This is a sect located in the southeast of Tunan Country, the Hanshan Sword Sect.

The Hanshan Sword Sect is one of the 4,800 large and small sects and clans in the Tu Nan Kingdom. Although the strength is only the rating of the middle three sects, it is still very far from the upper three gates, but because the sect has only been established for hundreds of years, it is already very good by the standards of a new sect.

The original Hanshan Sword Sect was actually not a sect, which was written in the records left by the ancestors.

It is recorded in the records that the group that first established the Hanshan Sword Sect moved here from far away in order to complete a special mission. Originally, it was just a short stay here, and it was not intended to settle down for long. However, because this place is too remote and uninhabited, coupled with the high terrain and the dangerous mountain roads, there is a sense of isolation from the world after a long time, which is very in line with the state of mind of the sect master at that time. It was summer, the hot weather was unbearable, and the group traveled all the way to the cold mountain. Suddenly, I came to a secluded forest surrounded by pine trees and ancient trees, the climate was cool and comfortable, and the valley stream was clear and sweet, which was in stark contrast to the hardships along the way. Everyone said they didn't want to run around anymore.

Once you have taken a break from your hustle and bustle, it is difficult to make up your mind to go back.

So the group stayed for a long time.

Because the cold mountain is not too far from the East China Sea in the far east of the mainland, sometimes the warm and humid southeast wind brings a large amount of water vapor into the mountain, and after the warmth dissipates, only the humidity is left. Over time, the cold accumulated in the valley was extremely heavy. Therefore, the people who live here can only rely on practice to strengthen their bodies, so as not to catch the wind cold or joint inconvenience. For this reason, the sect master at that time set up a sect and taught all the people in the sect to practice true qi and swordsmanship, so there was the current Hanshan Sword Sect.

Although in the eyes of many outsiders, Hanshan is a remote place, children who grow up in Hanshan will not feel anything bad here. The air is fresh and the scenery is beautiful. Reading books, practicing swords, and being accompanied by idle clouds, watching wild cranes fly high alone, eyes open and close, and quietly a lifetime has passed.

There are no distractions and few disputes. I haven't seen the outside world, but I don't have a reason for mediocrity to disturb myself.

This in itself is a very suitable place for spiritual practice, to be calm, calm, agreeable, and to nourish the mind. And Su Mu, who grew up in the Cold Mountain Sword Sect, was naturally no exception, since he could remember, his life was day after day swordsmanship practice and Daozang reading through.

For the children of the Cold Mountain Sword Sect, life is not boring, but it is not colorful.

Although the children who grew up in Hanshan are destined to live such an ascetic life for the rest of their lives, there are not many opportunities to go down the mountain to see in their lifetime. But in fact, from a long, long time ago, the bloodline of the Cold Mountain Sword Sect had been broken. Now most of the children here are adopted by the sect, and for them, there is no more to ask for when they have food and clothing, and grow up healthy. There are no regrets in being able to delve into kendo without distractions, and children are instilled with such concepts.

The young Su Mu was also one of them, although he had been a little resistant to practice.

The reason why Su Mu didn't like sword practice at that time was not because children were fun by nature, and not only because this practice was too boring. It's just that for Su Mu at that time, there were some abnormalities in his body, which caused the world in his eyes to seem to be a little different from the world in the eyes of others.

He couldn't tell what the difference was, he wanted to ask the master, but he didn't know how to speak. In the words of his brothers and uncles, this child's language skills do not seem to have developed well since he was a child. Su Mu didn't speak until he was more than three years old, and he would still stumble when he was five years old. As the only personal disciple under the name of Gao Yuanshan, the head of the Hanshan Sword Sect, he has not yet shown any strengths compared to other children. Therefore, although they knew that Su Mu was the most beloved child of the head of Gao Yuanshan, the senior brothers still didn't like to play with this little junior brother a little, and felt that he was a little silly, and Su Mu probably knew this matter in his heart.

And the change happened when Su Mu was more than seven years old, and he suddenly began to feel that the movement of looking at everything around him slowed down. It may not be the slowness of the second uncle's slow speech, nor the slowness of the fourth uncle's meticulous work, it is difficult to describe his lack of language skills.

Su Mu only knew that the speed at which the cherry blossoms fell from the branches was very slow, the speed at which the clear spring water in the valley flowed very slowly, the speed at which the crows of the cold mountains crossed the sky was very slow, and even the swordsmanship moves that the senior brothers practiced hard day and night were also very slow.

It's so slow that it seems to be easy to avoid with a slight flash.

The senior brothers practiced very hard and seriously in the cold wind, the sword danced in the air, every move and style had a plank and an eye, and the practice clothes were also soaked with sweat, everyone's faces were meticulous, and Su Mu, who was watching from the side, only felt that their slow-motion posture was a little funny.

This feeling was very mysterious to Su Mu, and Su Mu could feel that he didn't seem to be completely slow to catch them with his eyes, as if those movements were now very clear and natural and directly introduced into his mind. Obviously, the process of transmission from the eye to the mind is greatly omitted.

It is precisely because of the slowness that he can see clearly, and it may also be because he can see clearly, so that Su Mu can accurately grasp the various loopholes in the sword moves of the senior brothers.

Su Mu, who was just seven years old, began to feel that the sword moves practiced by the senior brothers were too clumsy, and almost every move would expose quite a lot of gaps. For example, when dealing with the third style of the Hanshan Sword Technique, you can calmly block the counterattack and go defenseless, why do you force you to chase after you with a sword, or in the seventh style, although it seems to be a dead angle aimed at the shoulder blade, in fact, your entire life gate is almost exposed.

Looking at it, Su Mu couldn't even help but shake his head.

Not long after discovering this, Su Mu decided not to participate in the joint training with his senior brothers anymore. The little Su Mu didn't have any malice, first, he really felt that the practice of the senior brothers was very slow and looked funny, he couldn't help but laugh, but he was afraid of disturbing the senior brothers, so he had to avoid it himself, and second, he also thought that these swordsmanship and sword moves were a little rough, he didn't feel the need to continue practicing, but he didn't dare to explain to the master. Last time, a senior brother was directly driven out of the sect by the irascible third uncle because he questioned the quality of the Hanshan Sword Duel.

And almost at the same time as realizing the slowness of the world, Su Mu noticed another thing, that is, his own fastness.

Although this is well understood in the eyes of ordinary people, fast and slow are relative. When you think something is slow, it's actually that you look at it at a faster pace. But it is too difficult for a seven-year-old child to recognize this relativity. Su Mu only knew that it used to take him an afternoon to complete the practice of accurately piercing all the leaves on a tree, but now he only needed less than a stick of incense, and the hit rate was much higher. Or, it used to take more than a dozen nights to read an obscure collection of swordsmanship, but now it seemed that at a glance, those moves were naturally imprinted in his mind.

Thinking that he might have become smarter, Su Mu was a little happy.

At the same time, thanks to his own speed, his efficiency has become higher, so relatively, the time belonging to Su Mu has become more abundant.

And thanks to the abundance of time, the little Su Mu soon discovered more new differences in the world. Su Mu, who loves to wander in the back mountains, gradually found that the insects and birds in the valley became clearer and clearer, the sound of the clear spring beating the fine stones became more and more crisp, and the whistling sound of the wind rolling in the distant sky with the remnants of snow became clearer and clearer. The aroma of the grass and trees was strong, the wet and salty rain was strong, and the stench of the beasts was more obvious. He felt more and more able to blend in with the mountains, and even the stars and moon in the sky seemed to be closer and brighter than before.

This was the discovery he was most pleased with.

Since he was very young, Su Mu liked to gaze at the night sky and the stars, and he didn't know what was in that deep and quiet sky, but he could vaguely feel his connection with it, giving Su Mu a warm and familiar feeling. In the eyes of Su Mu, who is now ten years old, the twinkle of the stars seems to have a different meaning. Su Mu felt that the trajectory of the meteor that pierced the sky seemed to be very similar to the sword qi and sword shadow, the stars in the night sky were shining like the sky was breathing rhythmically, and the unique rhythm seemed to be the inner breathing method that Gao Yuanshan had said, and even the frost of the bright moon hanging high made Su Mu feel as if his spirit was bathed.

The already deep and mysterious night sky has become more content.

Children don't know good or bad, they only know whether they are happy or not. Su Mu felt that he was very happy looking at the starry sky. At the same time, because he didn't have to go to the dojo to practice, he began to wander around in the huge cold mountains. Sometimes he sleeps in the hollow of the ancient tree, sometimes he stays by the deep pool of the cold mountain, and most of the time, he chases the floating clouds that are close at hand on the Crying Cliff. It feels good to be embraced by this piece of nature, and it is much happier than practicing swords, but only that night sky, so far away that it is difficult for the eye to follow, can make this child feel comfortable and free from the bottom of his heart.

But no matter how free he was, Su Mu still didn't stop practicing swords, even if he rejected it, he would find a steady time to practice swordsmanship. This is related to Su Mu's illness since childhood.

When Su Mu was five years old, he didn't know what day it began, Su Mu could suddenly hear some sounds of gold and iron colliding in his mind, mixed with the sound of whistling swords. Sometimes you can see someone wielding a sword in your sleep.

At that time, Su Mu didn't think it was particularly strange, he just thought that he had been watching his senior brothers practice swords day and night, so he had a dream at night.

However, as the age increases, this symptom gradually tends to become more and more severe, and sometimes it is even accompanied by a strong headache, which makes the child roll around. Although Su Mu had asked Gao Yuanshan to explain the matter, Lang Zhong invited by Gao Yuanshan couldn't find the specific cause of the problem. I tried all kinds of side remedies, but I still couldn't cure this weird headache, so I had to give up over time.

Until one day, Su Mu found out by chance that when he concentrated on practicing the sword and swinging the sword, he couldn't hear the sound in his head, and when he practiced the sword very diligently, even the sound of the sword and the symptoms of headache when he was resting would be reduced a lot. He didn't understand why, so he went to ask Master Gao Yuanshan. Gao Yuanshan also cannot explain this phenomenon. So in order to reduce this strange pain, Su Mu had to practice desperately.

At first, I wanted to practice desperately, not really because he liked sword practice so much, but because he didn't want to endure the harassment of strange voices in his head.

But practice is practice, the sword moves in the Hanshan Sword Technique Su Mu didn't want to go to mechanical practice anymore, he didn't know what the meaning of such a flawed sword move was, so he tried his best to create a new practice for himself.

The exercises that Su Mu designed for himself were mainly divided into three aspects.

The first is to improve and dismantle the first twelve basic styles of the Cold Mountain Sword Technique. Sword moves can not be practiced, but daily swinging of the sword is essential, otherwise the strange voice in your head will come back.

Su Mu would first recall the moves of the Cold Mountain Sword Technique in his mind, and then update the areas that he thought could be improved, and then preset a set of countermeasures, and practice this set of plans repeatedly. After practicing to be familiar with it, I will think about other ways to receive it, and try not to repeat it.

The second exercise is an advanced version of the basic exercises that I did as a child.

At Su Mu's age, he usually only needs to practice basic movements a thousand times a day, either stabbing the leaves on the tree, or chopping the marks on the stakes. Originally, the amount was already very large, but now that the speed has become faster and the motion control is more accurate, Su Mu can complete it at high speed with ease. It's not a challenge. Therefore, Su Mu made it more difficult for himself, such as stabbing the leaves to slash first, and then the fallen leaves falling from the spurs. Chopping the stake has also been changed to control the mark of the sword rubbing on the stake, but not cutting the sword body into it, so as to practice one's ability to control and grasp the sword, etc.

The third exercise was done in the library in the high mountains. Only Su Mu was the only one in the sect who could freely enter and leave the library pavilion in Gaoyuan Mountain, and even the four eldest brothers who were highly talented were not allowed. Su Mu would read the other swordsmanship Dao treasures other than the Hanshan Sword Technique in the Library Pavilion, and then imprint the tricks in his mind and disassemble them.

A period of time had passed, and it had been a long time since the senior brothers in the sect had seen Su Mu outside of meal time. He got up and had breakfast, went to the back mountain to practice by himself, and would look at the stars for a while in the middle of the night before returning to his bedroom. Over time, if it weren't for the fact that the head of the sect had always favored Su Mu, the brothers would have forgotten that there was such a number one person in the sect.
