Chapter 51: The Benefits of Becoming a Monk
I still remember in a dream when I dreamed of the Venerable Master Xuanhua, I asked him in a dream where it would be appropriate for me to go if I wanted to become a monk, and he said that he would go to the United States to become a monk, but the karma had not yet arrived, and then in the dream I met a woman who said, "I know that you will definitely become a monk, and you must sit in the ashram."
Now I will tell you about the benefits of ordination and the benefits of persuading people to become ordained.
The Buddha said the scripture of merit for monks, in the vernacular
As I have heard, the Buddha was living in Vaishya. When it was time for lunch, the Buddha led the monks into the city to beg for food. At that time in the city of Vaishali there was a son of the royal family of Kshatriya named Yongjun, and he enjoyed the same pleasure as the Son of Heaven and the maidens entertained each other. At that time, the prince spent all day entertaining in the palace with the maids, and like the celestial beings, he had no time to study the Dharma because of the five wonderful desires such as lust.
Then the Buddha contemplated with all his wisdom and heard the sound of music coming from the palace and told Ananda, "I know that this prince, who has been greedy for pleasure all his life, will soon die: in seven days he will have to give up his family and his happiness, and then he will surely die." Ananda, if the prince does not give up his desire to become a monk now, he will surely fall into hell after all. ”
After listening to the Buddha's teachings, Venerable Ananda came to the prince's place in the spirit of altruism in Buddhism and with the intention of benefiting the prince. Soon after Ananda sat down, the prince felt strong respect and prayed to Ananda: "It is wonderful to see you here, and I am very happy! The prince prayed three times.
In order to do great good for the prince and make him feel that the Dharma is precious and rare, His Holiness Ananda was silent about the prince's prayers. Seeing that His Holiness was speechless, the prince said, "Shakyamuni Immortal benefits all sentient beings equally, but did he ever have a sense of resentment?" Now I have repeatedly prayed to His Holiness to preach the Dharma, but His Holiness has been silent and has not said a little. ”
At this time, Ananda, who is known as the third teacher, who holds the teachings of the Dharma and benefits the world, said to the prince with sorrow: "Please listen carefully, and in seven days you will die, and if you continue to indulge in the five desires such as lust, and do not become enlightened and do not become a monk, you will surely fall into hell." This is what all the wise Buddhas have given to you in the right words. Even though the fire consumes everything in the world, the Buddha's words are always true, so think about it. ”
When the prince heard this, his heart was greatly grieved, and he said, "I will be taught by Venerable Ananda, and I will become a monk." Let me enjoy my desires for six days, and on the seventh day I will give up my family and become a monk. "Ananda made a request for the prince.
On the seventh day, the prince came to the Buddha and asked to become a monk because he was afraid of the pain of falling into the hell of life and death, and the Buddha immediately granted it. After practicing the pure vows for a day and a night, the prince died. After burning incense and all other transcendental matters, Ananda and his family members went to the Buddha and said, "World-honored one, now that the warrior bhikshu has died, where is his divine consciousness reborn?"
At this time, the Buddha, the World-Honored One, the Heavenly Teacher, and all the wise and wise beings, with the five pure merits, plus the supernatural thunder, the sound of the drums, and all the wonderful sounds of the Gyalingpinga (Wonderful Sound Birds), a total of eight characteristics, told Ananda: "This brave bhikshu renounced his desire to be a monk because he was afraid of the hell of life and death, and after receiving the pure vows for one day and one night, he was reborn as the son of the Four Heavenly Kings and the Northern Heavenly King Bishaman. Enjoy the pleasures of the five desires such as lust as you like, covet the five desires without restraint, and enjoy the pleasures with the goddesses all day long, and live for 500 years.
After the age of 500, he was reborn for 33 days as the son of the Emperor Shakti, enjoying the five desires and all the heavenly bliss, and entertaining with all the wonderful celestial maidens for a thousand years.
Born in the flame of the sky, as the son of the king of the flame sky, enjoy the color, sound, fragrance and touch at will, and enjoy the pleasure of the two thousand years old with a happy heart.
Born in Tushi Tian, the son of the king, enjoy the pleasure of the five desires such as lust at will. However, in the face of the five wonderful desires, the mind can be content. He often talks about the meaning of Buddhism in French with the people of this day, practices the wisdom of liberation, and lives for 4,000 years.
He is the son of the king of heaven in his life. Enjoy all kinds of five desires, and enjoy yourself for 8,000 years old by changing freely in the environment of the five desires such as women.
After the age of 8,000, he died and was reborn as the son of the king of heaven. The pleasure of the sixth day of this desire realm is beyond the reach of the next five desires. After being reborn in this heaven, the warrior bhikshu enjoys the most extraordinary pleasures of the heavens of desire, knowing that this is the treasure of all desires. When enjoying these pleasures, the mind is extremely enchanted and spends 16,000 years in the special pleasure of enjoying all the wonderful desires.
Enjoying peace and happiness in this way, going back and forth seven times on the six days of desire, is inspired by the merits of the brave bhikshu to become a monk in one day and one night.
In short, during the twenty eons, he did not fall into the three evil realms of hell, hungry ghosts, and beasts, and was often born in the heavenly realm, and naturally enjoyed all happiness and happiness. When you become the last being, you will be reborn in the house of happiness on earth, and you will have all the treasures and treasures. After the prime of life, when the good roots mature, due to the fear of birth, old age, sickness and death, they have renunciation, shaved their beards and sent home, wore Dharma robes, practiced diligently, and practiced the four majestic rites of walking, living, sitting, and lying down with the monks, and had sufficient righteous thoughts. Later, he meditated on the five aggregates of suffering, emptiness, and selflessness in a quiet place and realized the 12 karmic dharma natures, and attained the Buddha of the Buddha (Yuanjue Arhat), named Emperor Biliu.
After attaining the attainment of the attainment of ”
At this time, Ananda respectfully folded his palms and said to the Buddha, "World-honored One, if someone does not bind others and allows them to become a monk, or if someone becomes a monk and makes offerings according to his needs, how many blessings will he receive? The Buddha told Ananda, "If you keep asking me this question for a hundred years, I will not be able to tell you all about this person's merits in a hundred years, except for the time spent on eating and drinking, with my infinite wisdom." This person who helps people to become a monk is always born in the heavenly realm to enjoy the pleasures of desire, or he is reborn as a human king and enjoys the happiness of heaven and man.
If someone passes the Four Methods of Shamen (he scolds and does not return the scolding, he is not angry and angry, he does not fight back, he does not return the beating, and he does not return the retribution. To make someone become a monk, or to help someone create a family karma, both of which often enjoy happiness in the cycle of birth and death. Even if I spent a hundred years preaching their merits, I would not be able to say them all.
So, Ananda, if you ask me for a hundred years, or you ask me for all your lifetimes, and I use up all my lives in samsara until I attain nirvana, I can't say all of this merit for so long. ”
The Buddha then said to Ananda, "On the contrary, if someone destroys the cause of ordination of others, he is robbing them of endless good wealth and blessings, and destroying the cause of the 37 points of bodhi dharma nirvana. Suppose there is a person who wants to destroy the cause of ordination of others, ask him to observe and think about the truth mentioned earlier before doing it. Why? Because relying on this kind of sinful karma that destroys the karma of other people's ordination, in the future, we will end up in hell, and we will always be blind, and we will feel extremely painful. When you come out of hell and are reborn in the animal path, you are often a blind animal without eyes, and you are often a blind ghost when you are reborn as a hungry ghost.
If you are reborn as a human after liberation from the three negative realms, you will already be blind in your mother's womb, and this will be the case from birth to life.
Ananda, you have been asking me questions about this for a hundred years, and I have spent a hundred years proclaiming this sin with infinite wisdom, and I cannot say it all. In the four realms (the three evils plus humanity), the permanent life is blind. I don't remember when this person has liberation, why? Because I destroy the karma of others, I hinder my own liberation.
