Chapter (55): Bangshan Cliff Carvings

Volume 7: The Scarface Granny of the Bangshan Broken Temple

Talking and laughing all the way, it took less than forty minutes to arrive at the foot of Bangshan Mountain. The elevation of this Bangshan is only two or three hundred meters, but the mountains and rocks here are craggy, the boulders are stacked, the pine locusts are covered, and the scenery is deep. Especially on the cliff stone wall and some giant rocks in the Buddha Optics Valley of the back mountain, there are a large number of Likai stone scriptures scattered impressively.

According to research, these stone scriptures were carved during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. In the era of the strange and lively real books, the calligraphers integrated the renewal and sublimation of the aesthetic value of the official book, which not only retained the momentum of the opening of the official book, but also reasonably absorbed the thickness of the real book, and received the effect of serenity, simplicity, subtlety and quietness.

Each carved work is like a Taoist, subtle and round, there is the world but not with, the skin is like ice and snow, like a virgin, the charm of Mumu, low eyebrows, natural and high. Looking at the mountains from afar, the space is wide and from the ground, and the close view looks like a statue of the Buddha, quiet and dignified. Lined with mountains and forests and cliffs, and the righteousness of Buddhism is integrated, its scene is broad, magnificent, it is really a great wonder in the history of books!

Legend has it that during the Northern Dynasties, Buddhism experienced three extinction events. The monks and laymen who believe in Buddhism are deeply troubled by this: "I think that the silk is bad, the simple strategy is not long, the gold is hard to find, and the leather paper is easy to destroy." "I hope that the Buddhist scriptures will be engraved on the cliffs and rocks, so that they will be held up to the mountains and will remain forever.

The stone carvings of Bangshan are the fine products of this period, especially famous for their large characters, and gradually the original name of the mountain has also been changed to the current Bangshan. The stone carvings of Bangshan are famous far and wide, and there is an endless stream of people who come here every year. In recent years, even some calligraphy enthusiasts from abroad have come from far and wide to take pictures and copy. This Bangshan is not very far from the east of the city where everyone is located, and Xiao Qingfeng and everyone often come to play and appreciate. However, among the nine people, only Xiao Qingfeng and Jingxin are true calligraphy lovers, and the others just like the quietness here.

In less than half an hour, everyone climbed over the front mountain and arrived at the Foguang Valley hidden in the deep jungle behind the mountain. Speaking of this Buddha Light Valley, according to legend, people who are destined to see the strange Buddha light at the top of this Bangshan Mountain within a certain period of time. Everyone estimated that this was just a name made up by some good deeds based on the Buddhist stone scriptures scattered all over the valley.

Because, one is that the people in the vicinity never seem to have really seen the appearance of any Buddha light, and the other is that there are no stone inscriptions in the entire Bangshan Mountain to prove the origin of this name. Of course, some people say that in many stone carvings, there are two words, "Buddha" and "light", but these two words are also far apart. It seems that there is also some unrelated taste, so the origin of the name of this Foguang Valley should be made up by those who do good things themselves. It's just that later people listened to it and called it casually.

However, in the shade behind the mountain, there is indeed a dilapidated light temple. In the barren ruins there is a remnant of a monument, on which the words "Buddha's light shines" have been found, or this is the origin of the Buddha's light valley. However, after research, it was found that the remnant monument was only erected during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, so some people think that this may not correspond to the time. Because as early as in some related notes and novels left by the local Ming Dynasty, the words of Bangshan Foguang Valley once appeared. In any case, until today, the origin of the name of this Foguang Valley has not been really verified.

In addition, Xiao Qingfeng and Jingxin really read a large number of local chronicles, and they didn't see any exact information, so they believed that this should just be a far-fetched invention of people who did good things in ancient times.

It's just that in recent years, a group of wild monks with shaved heads and robes have come out of nowhere, and they have rebuilt a splendid temple on the site of this Guangguang Temple. Although it is still named after the original Guangguang Temple, like the temples that have sprung up in various places in recent years, the monks and nuns who have been made by them live in a variety of ways. There is no longer the solemn peace that the Buddhist Zen Temple should have, and it has been replaced by all kinds of so-called good men and women with different purposes. Not only is there a lot of traffic in front of the door all day long, but even the so-called monks and nuns in the temple are frequently in and out of various meeting places in luxury cars.

I don't know what kind of mood it would be for those monks who had spent a lot of painstaking efforts and endless painstaking efforts and financial resources to engrave the scriptures here.

When they arrived at Foguang Valley, everyone first placed the still weak Mengshan turtle on a shady platform that could roughly overlook the entire valley, and still let the little Taoist priest who did not like Buddhist culture accompany him on it. The remaining seven people dispersed and began their own free play. Xiao Qingfeng, Jing Xin, and the mute three of them followed the content of the carved scriptures and the connections that existed in them, appreciating the superb calligraphy art one by one. From time to time, Xiao Qingfeng also improvised with his fingers to write, copying out of thin air, writing to the point of pride, and involuntarily laughing from the depths of his heart.

The meditation on the side is to recite all the stone scriptures in the valley one by one, and at the same time to copy them out of thin air at will, but also enjoy it. Even if he looks stupid and coarse, he occasionally dips his fingers in the mineral water he carries on the ground under the carved boulder from time to time, and earnestly copies one stroke at a time.

Not to mention, the dumb man seems to really have a little talent for calligraphy, he has hardly studied for a day, but the font copied by the gourd is also remarkable. Even Xiao Qingfeng and Jing Xin were quite happy when they looked at him from the sidelines, and they all praised his intentions. As for the other four people, they didn't know where they had gone, so they went to look for the scenery and take pictures.

Just when Xiao Qingfeng and the three of them were kicking and copying with pleasure, the prodigal son suddenly rushed from a distance, and said to them with a smile: "I said three calligraphers, you pause, don't be lewd here, you go and see our Comrade Maitreya laughing." This guy won't fall for evil, he'll be going crazy there alone. After that, the prodigal son couldn't help but pull Xiao Qingfeng and ran out quickly.

After a while, the four of them arrived at a high boulder, on which the lone wolf, the doll, the Mengshan turtle, and the little Taoist priest who also climbed up at some point were all there. I saw that the four of them were lying on it, watching the laughing Maitreya more than 100 meters away. Due to the location and the dense branches of the trees nearby, they could clearly see the Laughing Maitreya, but it was extremely difficult for the Laughing Maitreya to spot them.

When the lone wolf saw Xiao Qingfeng and them arrive, they all moved their bodies slightly and made some room for the four newcomers. Xiao Qingfeng learned from them to look at the place where the laughing Maitreya was below, and saw that the laughing Maitreya had changed his previous expression of laughing all day long, but stood in front of a boulder with a solemn expression. Sometimes he contemplated with his eyebrows, sometimes he gestured with his hands and feet with a serious analogy.

It is said that it is copied out of thin air, but there is no pen movement and layout that calligraphy should have, but it is like practicing some kind of martial arts routine; But I just feel that every move of Laughing Maitreya is very different, his current gestures are as quiet as mountains and rivers, and every move and style seems to be smooth and elegant.
