Chapter 126 Jiuhua Mountain
Jiuhua Mountain is one of the three major mountain systems in southern Anhui, and the main body is a strong fault uplift belt composed of granite rock mass. Except for some sedimentary rocks, most of the marginal areas are slightly uplifted belts of folded faults composed of granodiorite. Jiuhua Mountain is located in the northern subtropics, not only affected by the humid monsoon, but also restricted by the altitude and topography of the mountainous area, so it has mild, humid, cool and other mountain climate characteristics.
Jiuhua Mountain overlooks the Yangtze River in the north, looks at the Yellow Mountain in the south, borders the Taiping Lake in the east, connects Chizhou in the west, stretches for more than 100 kilometers, there are mainly 99 peaks, the highest Shiwang Peak is 1342 meters above sea level. The total area of Jiuhua Mountain is about 120 square kilometers, roughly in a south-north trend, between 117°43'-118°80'E longitude and 30°24'-30°40'N latitude.
Jiuhua Mountain from the foot of the mountain to Tiantai Peak, famous temples and ancient temples stand in a forest, there are many cultural relics and historic sites, there are still 78 ancient temples such as Huacheng Temple, Moon Body Treasure Palace, Huiju Temple, Hundred Years Old Palace, more than 1,500 Buddha statues, more than 1,300 pieces of cultural relics such as the holy decree, Tibetan scriptures and other jade seals, magic instruments and other cultural relics granted by Emperor Wanli of the Ming Dynasty.
In 2006, Jiuhua Mountain Scenic Area with Jiuhua Mountain as the main body was rated as a national key scenic spot. In 2007, Jiuhua Mountain Scenic Area was rated as a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction. In 2009, Jiuhua Mountain was rated as a National Geopark. On April 17, 2019, UNESCO issued a proclamation approving Jiuhua Mountain as a Global Geopark.
The whole Jiuhua Mountain is composed of many high altitudes, scattered mountains, low mountains and hills of great size, and Jiuhua Mountain is also composed of the following main peaks,
1. Tianzhu Peak
It is located in the northwest of Qingqiao Bay, with an altitude of 1004 meters. The Qing Dynasty's "Jiuhua Mountain Chronicles" contains: "Tianzhu Peak towers thousands of miles, such as the pillar leaning against the sky, this East China (referring to the eastern part of Jiuhua Mountain) is the first peak. The surrounding group of peaks ring arch, there is the peak name "Xiangshilao" on the south side, it is said that whenever it rains, it makes a wonderful sound, the west is adjacent to the twin peaks, the south is the big ancient peak, the northeast is the green peak Dripcui, the northwest screen stands the five old peaks, the southwest is the column of immortal peaks, the peak is multi-shaped strange stones.
2. Liantai Peak
It is located in the northeast of Luohan Dun, with an altitude of 1218 meters. The five major rocks are stacked high into the peak, the peak waist hanging stones are staggered, the overhead becomes a hole, the hole is empty, and there are "four gates" to enter. There were monks who once inhabited, and the hall and meditation hall could accommodate 100 people.
3. Furong Peak
Also known as the west peak of Huashan, lotus peak, 900 meters above sea level, Furong peak north from the head of Jiuhua, upper, middle and lower three lotus peaks, pull up continuously, the stone color is blue and purple, the shape is like a lotus. Qing Wang Guan Shiyun: "The peaks can be opened from Wuding, and the hibiscus can be planted indiscriminately." Often blame the visitors on Jiuhua Mountain, and they don't come to see the mountain. ”[20]
4. Plug in the sky
That is, the East Cliff, also known as the East Peak, is 817 meters above sea level, and is one of the famous peaks of Jiuhua Mountain. The peak is steep and towering, the cliffs on both sides are lonely, and the east of Jiuhua Street is crossed. Huatan Stream and Longxi Peak flow, confluence in Longchi. The southwest is the Huacheng Basin, and the northeast is the Minyuan Gorge. Whenever the clouds rise from the Dragon Pond, the peak splits into two clouds, surging to Jiuhua Street and Min Yuen Valley respectively.
5. Ten Kings Peak
Located on the south side of Tiantai Peak, with an altitude of 1,342 meters, it is the first peak of Jiuhua Mountain, which is composed of granite. The vegetation on the peak is luxuriant, there are fir forests, Huangshan pine, and rare animals macaques, pangolins, hawksbill turtles, baby fish and so on.
6. Tiantai Peak
Also known as "Tiantai Zhengding", the altitude is 1306 meters, and it is the third highest peak of Jiuhua Mountain. There is a Tiantai Zen Temple at the top of the peak, and there is a ridge in the southeast, which is composed of exposed granite and is in a daisy color. Legend has it that Jin Dizang borrowed land from Min Gong in that year, and showed his robe on the peak, and the robe flew with the wind, covering the ninety-nine peaks.

7. Luohan Peak
It is located in the northwest of Tiantai Peak, with an altitude of 1280 meters. Because the granite that makes up the mountain is very dense and hard, and has strong resistance to weathering and erosion by flowing water, it forms a dome-shaped peak. There is Luohan Mound in the west of the peak, which is a large open space spread out on the ridge, and there is an ancient temple base.
