Chapter 138: Inner Demon
Yu Zhenyi is in this purgatory cave sky, wanting to subdue his inner demons.
He had already learned how those demons of Taoism came to be. In addition, there is a spirit turtle in the body, and at this moment, he is not panicked at all. In addition to Taoism, there are actually Buddhist sects, and there are also many ways to subdue demons.
Subduing the demons is to fight against one's own troubles and habits, all the demons and demons are the demons in one's own mind, the ** manifestation of greed and ignorance, can maintain the consciousness of one's own nature, and can be broken with the awareness of correct knowledge and correct view.
The most important thing is that you need to open your eyes to see through the demons, and you can fight the outer demons with your magical power and subdue them.
The outer demons refer to the Heavenly Demons of the Desire Realm Heaven, the Heavenly Demons of the Molan Shura Heaven of the Lust Realm, and the Demon Sons and Demon Grandchildren of the Lust Realm and the Lust Realm Heavens and the Demon Descendants who are hidden in the human race. Heavenly demons, people have only heard of them in Buddhist scriptures, and in the real world, they have never heard of anyone who has seen them, and most people think that heavenly demons are just demons and monsters in mythology.
In fact, in the world of desire and color, demons are everywhere, and the Buddha has long made it clear in the "Buddhist Sutra", but people can't see demons with the naked eye, so they think that there is no demon, and demons are just myths and legends.
And since Shakyamuni Buddha's Nirvana, there are very few people who have opened their eyes, and few people can see the real demon, so that the demon has become a character in mythological stories. The criterion by which people evaluate demons can only be judged by their words and deeds, whether they keep the precepts, whether they are compassionate and virtuous, whether they are genuinely ascetic, and so on. But the real demon sons and grandsons, who were sent by the demon king to rule the earth and fight against those who correct the Dharma and destroy the Dharma, all entered Buddhism as Buddhas.
In order to undermine the Dharma, the demons and demons and grandchildren show their supernatural powers and wisdom, and often appear as great cultivators, great compassionate ones, great benevolent knowledge, and other eminent monks, living Buddhas, Dharma kings, great laymen, etc., preaching the scriptures, holding Dharma meetings, doing great deeds, ascetic retreats, and so on, which can attract and confuse people by recruiting disciples, and slowly introduce the Demon Path in the name of good Dharma and Fa-rectification.
If you don't open your eyes, you will never know who the real demon is. However, although the demons do good deeds and speak the Dharma, they will definitely join the things of the outer paths, and attract greedy people to join their "highest, largest, secret method" team with the names of longevity, healing, good fortune, blessings, enlightenment, rapid Buddhahood, reincarnation of living Buddhas, Dharma kings, Buddhas on Buddhas, and so on.
A good mind is to make the body and mind pure by subduing the demons in the heart, and to face any realm, without causing troubles and without distinction, so that when subduing the demons, one's own demonic nature cannot be raised. Heavenly demons also have all kinds of supernatural changes and all kinds of mana, all have the heavenly eye, the heavenly ear, the divine foot, his heart, fate, can perceive all the thoughts of the demon slayer, if you can't stop all the thoughts, the demon can find your weaknesses and loopholes, and launch an attack.
To conquer demons, it is necessary to be a great enlightened person who has broken the view of good and evil, the Dharma body that has realized emptiness, and the great enlightened person who has broken the compassion, and who has gone deep into the Nyorai Tibet to see the reality of the Nagisa Dharma, and to break all delusions and distinctions. Demons are also sentient beings, but they are the troubles of sentient beings, the embodiment of the demonic nature of greed and hatred, and the demons must also destroy the demons and kill the demons, but what they kill is the incarnation of the demonic nature of all sentient beings, and the demon retribution of the evil magic manifestation, not the killing of people, so they have not broken the great precept of "not killing".
Without true great wisdom, if you can't break compassion, see good and evil, you won't be able to identify the truth of demons, you won't be able to understand the law of subjugating demons, and you won't know the true meaning of subduing demons.
Only by opening the eyes of the law can you identify the demon and find the demon, otherwise the change of the demon's supernatural powers will make you confused. If you don't open your eyes, you will be like the ignorant beings in the end of the Dharma period, you will regard the demon as a Buddha, as a bodhisattva, as a guru, bow and worship, take refuge and make offerings, how dare you fight with it?
Before the Buddha attained enlightenment, he wondered why people want to conquer others when they have power
Some people are very sad, not only do they feel sorry for themselves, but they also want to make others unhappy, and they live the same miserable life as ...... for the rest of their lives. Between people, there is a lack of love.
All this made the prince think, "Why can't I let all beings be peaceful, rich, and love each other, and live a peaceful and happy life?"
Just then, a demon appeared and said, "You can." As long as you go back to take charge of the country, you will naturally be able to make the people live a peaceful and prosperous life, make the hearts of mankind peaceful and stop conquering others, and make people open their hearts to love others, so that no unfortunate things will happen...... Even if your power turns the entire Mount Meru into gold, it's possible!"
At that time, the prince replied: "A man's heart will never be satisfied! Even if Mount Meru is turned into gold, it will not satisfy the greed in a man's heart." As long as a person has power, he will constantly want to conquer the territory of the world; as long as material desires and greed arise in his heart, even if he has everything, he still feels that it is not enough! If he has hatred in his heart, no matter how good others are to him, he will still not know how to be grateful!"
Despite this, the crown prince also thought: In order to make political stability and peace in the world, only I can govern by myself - let everyone respect and love each other, and only then can countries be at peace with each other. But as soon as this thought arose, the prince immediately had another thought in his heart -- no way! Man's desire is so great that it is not a person in a position of power who can subdue him, and even if he does not infringe on others, there is no guarantee that others will not invade him!
Sages like the Buddha also have mental struggles in the process of practice, while ordinary people are more likely to be conquered by power and desires, and do things that harm others and are not good for themselves, which is to be defeated by the "demons of the heart".
In daily life, it is inevitable that there will be ups and downs of the mind, and when the "inner demon" appears, it is necessary to conquer it with good thoughts. Cultivation is actually very simple, as long as you subdue the "demons" in your heart in time, you will make some progress, which is also a kind of spiritual liberation.
Throughout Xuanzang's life, in addition to being diligent and studious, he also has the spirit of forgetting his body for the law, being indifferent to fame and fortune, not being afraid of danger, and being selfless and altruistic. All these spirits represent his transcendence of the demons in his heart. Forgetting one's body for the sake of the law is the transcendence of life and death; indifference to fame and fortune is the transcendence of fame and fortune; fearlessness in the face of danger is the transcendence of fear; and selflessness and altruism are the transcendence of oneself.
On his way to the west, Xuanzang experienced countless hardships and dangers. In the process, it is necessary to overcome not only the limits of the body, but also the obstacles of the heart. From a Buddhist point of view, all difficulties are the externalization of our inner demons. The process of Xuanzang's learning of scriptures is the process of constantly defeating the demons in his heart.
This test begins with preparations for the journey west. At that time, the same way "married Chen Biao, there is no allowed, everyone retreats, only the master is unyielding". And in the subsequent journey, the test of going west or returning to the east came one after another, accompanying him throughout the journey. Among them, there are the tests of officers and soldiers blocking and ordering them to return to the east; there are the tests of the guides retreating and abandoning them; there are the tests of demons and ghosts and illusions and the ever-changing world; there are the tests of losing their way and not a drop of water remains; there are the tests of climbing over snow-capped mountains and walking through the desert; there are tests of being forced to sacrifice and dying on the verge of death; there are also tests of the king forcing them to stay, coercion and temptation, and so on. In the face of every test, Xuanzang has never wavered in the slightest.
Ordinary people are self-centered. This self is made up of my sense of importance, superiority, and dominance, and I want to be more important and superior than others, so that others will obey me. Most people spend their lives working on these three senses. The reason why there is competition, comparison, and pressure in this society is also caused by these three feelings.
But these feelings are impermanent. If you think you're important today, you may not be important tomorrow, and if you're important here, it may not matter if you go anywhere. If you care about these three feelings, you will cling to external support such as fame and status.
Once this attachment turns into dependence, it can trigger negative emotions such as anxiety, fear, and gains and losses. So we are always insecure and always worried about others calculating us. And this fear can close oneself off and set oneself up against others. In fact, it is not someone else who calculates himself, but his own demons. It is it that controls you, calls you, and harms you.
It can be said that learning Buddhism is the process of subduing the demons in the heart. When Shakyamuni was about to attain enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, he also experienced the process of subjugating demons. At that time, the Heavenly Demon Bo Shun came with his witch and tempted her with beauty and benefits, trying to interfere with the Buddha's enlightenment. But how could the Buddha, who was a prince himself, voluntarily give up his family, wealth, and power in pursuit of the truth, and chose the path of cultivation with nothing? Seeing that beauty and temptation were ineffective, Bo Xun sent a demon army to intimidate him. In the shadow of the sword and sword, the Buddha remained as unmoved. Because the Buddha has overcome all the troubles of his heart, without love, he will not be tempted by beauty, without greed, he will not be disturbed by interests, and without fear, he will not be deterred by swords.
There are three kinds of merits that the Buddha achieved: the first is to break the virtue and eliminate all the troubles and negative emotions in the heart, the second is the wisdom to realize oneself and to reach the dharma, including the fundamental wisdom and the differential wisdom, and the third is the compassion, that is, the quality of great compassion, and there is no sentient being who is unwilling to benefit and help. Among them, wisdom and sorrow are both based on broken virtue. If we can't subdue the demons in our minds and get rid of our afflictions, then wisdom will be lacking, compassion will be tainted, and it will not be truly perfect.
The Buddha achieved Bodhi by subduing demons, and Xuanzang sought the true scriptures by subduing demons, which is also a test that every practitioner must face. Buddhism holds that all sentient beings are under the control of demons before they become Buddhas. This demon is first of all the inner demon, that is, the demon of trouble, the demon of the five aggregates, and the demon of death, and the second is the outer demon, also known as the heavenly demon. In a broad sense, it also includes all difficulties and obstacles.
The reason why external demons can interfere with us is that the inner demons are the demons. Because of the demons in the heart, the inside and the outside should be combined and make waves. Once the inner demons are defeated, the external demons are powerless.
Some people, just greedy, want to become rich, dream that they will get rich overnight, so there is a fluke mentality, the result can be imagined, it is too late to regret it, and it is impossible for Daluo Immortal to collect debts for you.
There is also a kind of trapped love, that is, liking, that is, love, immersed in their own world, unable to extricate themselves. The lover says and listens to what, and in the end he loses all his money, and the lover takes the money and leaves, this is a love demon. Because of being lost in love, no one next to him can listen to what he says, and whoever says he will turn his face with whom.
Ten people said that you two can't do it, and the more you say it, the more I disobey, and I just want to prove it to you, whether I'm right or you're wrong. People who are in love can't see the true face of the other party clearly, such a person is easy to be controlled by love, and finally hurts his heart, and seriously loses his money and loses his emotions.
There is also a magic called arrogance. It's just that I always feel that I am better than others, no one in my eyes, no one is as good as myself, and everyone wants to laugh at others and scare others. Just look at himself as the most perfect, the most powerful, the whole world is him. There are many such people, and there are many people who come to me to convince me, this kind of demon is the most terrifying, it can lead you into a crazy world, lift you high, and in the end you fall miserably.
Everyone has demons in their hearts, and when they come, like a flood of doomsday, you can't resist it, you are driven and controlled, and in the mountain of flame knives, the pain is unspeakable, and there is no help.
If you want to overcome your demons, you must at least understand them. It exists in your soul and body, and in fact it is one with you, and under the influence of various external circumstances, it takes advantage of the void and makes you suffer from difficulties, poverty, disease, discrimination, and even death.
To overcome it, we must work inward, not outwardly. In your heart, there is a source of infinite light, but you have not yet discovered it and cannot believe it.
You must find a way from your heart and soul to overcome it. There are also many methods, abstinence, meditation, meditation, asceticism, dedication to one thing, hard work, etc., all of which can break the demons and achieve enlightenment.
When it's sunny, you curse the sun for being too hot, when it's cloudy, you curse for too much rain, in winter you curse the cold wind, and in summer you curse for being hot like fire.
Control the demons in the heart, others are looking at the white clouds when it is sunny, bathing in the mood when it is cloudy, enjoying plum blossoms in winter, looking at lotus flowers in summer, the world is the same, not the same is just different people's hearts.
