Where fire hurts the body, the real fire gives birth to the gods. But fire and true fire are not two things. The relationship between the two is like the potential of the fire when the candle is not lit and the reality of the fire when it is burned, which is inseparable.

Practitioners should cultivate true fire and not turn it into ordinary fire.

According to this, the meaning of true fire in the Inner Dan technique can be simply understood as: 'formless and formless energy'. On the one hand, it is different from the visible mortal fire, and on the other hand, it is the prerequisite for the formation of the tangible fire.

And the true fire of samadhi refers to the energy or essence generated by the human body in concentration. This interpretation is broadly the same as the one in the Taoist scriptures, but it is not the same.

There are many interpretations of 'Samadhi True Fire' in the Taoist scriptures, and there are different interpretations of the Taoist scriptures of different sects. The mainstream opinion is to divide samadhi into upper ambiguity, intermediate ambiguity, and lower ambiguity; The fire is also divided into: Jun Huo, Chen Huo, and Min Huo, which correspond to the heart, kidney, and bladder of the human body respectively (the specific correspondence order is different for each Dao Sutra).

"True Immortal Secret Fire Method": The heart is the king's fire, and it is called Shangyi, the kidney is the subordinate fire, and it is called Zhongyi, and the bladder is the people's fire, and it is called Xiayi. The three qi gather and become fire, and disperse into qi, so it is called samadhi true fire.

Zeng Yu's "Daoshu Finger Xuan": I have the three true fires: the heart of the king's fire, its name is the sun, the kidney is the minister's fire, its name is called the middle of the ignorance, and the bladder is the people's fire, and its name is the sun. Gather and become fire, and disperse and become gas.

Wan Shangfu's "Listening to the Heart and Guests": The heart is the king's fire, the bladder is the fire, the large intestine is the people's fire, the three fires are fumigated, and the spirit is the ...... The Buddhist book is also called Samadhi, the three translations are said to be positive, the translation is fixed, and the words are both positive and fixed.

From the above, it can be seen that 'samadhi' refers to the heart, kidneys, and bladder; 'Fire' refers to the condensed qi (gathered into fire, dispersed into qi); 'Samadhi' refers to the 'samadhi' qi (heart, kidneys, bladder) that condenses and knots.

The role of the true fire of samadhi in the Tao Sutra is divided into two aspects: one is internal and the other is external.

Internally, that is, to the cultivator's 'body'. The true fire of samadhi is a sign that the practice of inner dan has reached a certain state; It is not difficult to imagine the effect on the practitioner's own body.

"The True Record of the Immortals of the West Mountain": Or the yin ghost is the obstacle, and the evil demon is the obstacle, but in the quiet room, close the eyes and meditate on the heart, rise up and sit upright, the samadhi true fire rises, and the devil dissipates when it burns. The fire is too cool, and there is nothing.

"Xiuzhen Tai Chi Mixed Yuan Refers to the Xuan Diagram": Vipassana fire to remove the three corpses, Vipassana fire to remove the seven spirits, Vipassana fire to reduce the demons, Vipassana fire to kill the five ghosts, Vipassana fire to kill the nine insects, Vipassana fire to remove diseases, Vipassana fire to refine the form. He also burned himself.

From this, it can be seen that when the true fire of Samadhi rises, it can kill the "three corpses and nine insects" in the body, eliminate diseases, reduce demons, refine yin and so on. These are all in terms of the effect on the cultivator's own body.

On the other hand, if the true fire of samadhi acts on the outside, then 'ghosts and gods dare not approach, and water and fire cannot harm'.

"Xiuzhen Taiji Mixed Yuan Finger Xuantu": The right piece of fire recipe must have an inner Dan and raise the pure yang qi in the Dan, and it is said to be the fire of Zhengzhen. If the heart is the king's fire, the kidneys are the subordinate fire, and the bladder is the people's fire, it is the true fire of samadhi...... The fire in Neidan is unexpected, the ghosts and gods dare not approach, and water and fire cannot be harmed.

Covering the true fire of Samadhi is the "pure yang qi" obtained by the practitioner of the Tao, so the ghosts and gods whose body is yin do not dare to approach. As for "fire and water cannot be harmed", it involves an incredible situation.

Therefore, we will often see that when Taoists are doing the Dharma, they will often ask God: "Give me samadhi true fire ......" to burn the ghosts and gods.

For example, "High God Xiaoyu Halal King Purple Book Dafa Volume No. 4": Fa, pinch the middle finger on the upper section, take the southeast qi, the book talisman, and burn it in front of the afflicted. The god will look like a general, with fire in his hand, a sword, and a train and fire clouds, coming from the southeast. Zhu said: I serve the king of Yu Halal, summon the fire wheel to burn the ghosts, and I will release the true fire of Samadhi to burn the ghosts and gods. The sick are healed and the soul is at peace. Disease.

However, the so-called 'samadhi true fire' here is emitted by the gods, so it cannot be generalized with the 'samadhi true fire' that arises in the human body during the practice of inner dan.

Finally, there is another issue that needs to be explained, namely, that the true fire of samadhi, as a kind of 'fire', does not have the function of directly burning external objects.

From its meaning, it can be inferred that the true fire of samadhi is the 'qi' condensed and kneaded in the human body, which can be simply understood as the energy that has no form and no image. Even if it is transformed, it can only become some kind of tangible 'fire' in the human body, and it has nothing to do with 'fire' in the ordinary sense. Therefore, although it has the name of 'fire', it does not have the function of ordinary fire.

At the same time, Li Shizhen divided the fire in the world into twelve types, and distinguished them from yin and yang.

"Compendium of Materia Medica" says: Fire has yin and yang, which is the wonderful essence of Taiji. People take fire as pure yang, and they don't know that there is yin fire, but the saints know it. Therefore, there is no emptiness in the hexagram, and there is yin in the yang. The hexagram is real, and there is yang in yin. The same is true of the creatures of the fire and the earth, the yang fire has no substance, the substance is the substance, and then the form is sent to burn the matter. Yin fire has quality, and it does not have to be parasitic to things, but it cannot burn all things. Gaiyang fire is the soul of fire, which belongs to yang. Heat of the air. Yin fire is the spirit of fire, which belongs to yin. The gas is not hot. The twelve fires of the lake are divided into yin and yang, and they are called the two yang fires of the sky. The sun fires, the stars fly fire. The sun of the earth and the fire of the earth, the fire of wood, the fire of stone, and the fire of gold. The Yang Fire of Man is the first of the fire; The sun is warm on the back, the star fire has light and sound, and at the beginning of its fall, it is like a burnt stone, and the hand cannot be approached. The fire of drilling wood, drilling and wood are both hot and smoking. Hitting the stone and the gold, the two things will rub off, and the heat will be fired, and there will be fire. The breath exhaled by the fire of the human body, although the sky is extremely cold, but the popularity is all hot, this is all yang fire. For the soul of fire, although the gas is hot, it will be placed in the form of things is burning, so the crystal takes the fire in the sun, bears the Ai and smokes, the fire is the essence of the flying star, and the house is burned into the earth. Drilling wood to hit stones and gold, non-things can not survive by its fire. The fire of the human body can dissolve the horns of the rhino and disperse the qi of yin, which is equivalent to sending it to its body and burning it. Its anger is fierce, and it can be seen. It is called the yin fire of the sky, the dragon fire, and the thunder fire. The fire of the earth is two, the fire of oil, the fire of water. The yin fire of the human body is two, the fire of life, and the three flavors of true fire. Dragon fire cannot burn things, but can only burn sand and gravel. Gailong is pure yang, and those who oppose yin in fire take yang as their body and yin as their use. Thunder and fire cannot burn things, but can burn gold and iron. The striking thing of Gueret must have a sound, and its use is yang, and its body is yin. The local residual qi of sand and stone is the innate fire, the yang body, the burning gold and iron, and the mother of water. This ** and that is, the Yin body melts it, and the five elements are also wonderful. Oil can make fire in water, everything in the water, non-oil can not burn it, the fire in the water is salty, so the sea water is bright at night. The breath of the yin cannot be incinerated. The fire of life is the human body**, and the three flavors of true fire can be **. You can't burn things, it's all yin fire. For the spirit of fire, the air is not hot, and there is no need to parasitize the form of things, but there is a difference between being able to burn and not being burned. If it is not the sun and fire, all things will melt. The lake is only listed by name, and the reason is not clear, and its main function is obscure. Therefore, it is specially described in detail to make up for it.

It can be seen that the 'fire of life' and the 'true fire of samadhi' both belong to the yin fire of the human body, which can be used but cannot burn foreign objects.
