Chapter 136: The Bodhisattva of Enlightenment
Let's say that on the same night, the enshrined Bodhisattva gave a dream to the fox demon and the two humanitarians: Poor baby, the Bodhisattva tells you: The mountain behind this temple is the Xiyue ----- Huashan, which is known as one of the five mountains in the world.
The ruined temple at the foot of this mountain was originally called: City God Temple! This City God Temple was originally funded by a county lord.
If we talk about why this county lord wanted to build this city god temple? It would be a long story, and we have to start from many years ago.
About 50 years ago, there was a Xiucai who went to Beijing to take the exam, and saw that there was a small temple here, which had been abandoned for many years, and there were several Bodhisattvas outside the temple gate in the rain.
The kind-hearted Xiucai took off his hat from his head and put it on a rain-drenched bodhisattva. Then I went to find some wooden planks and something to keep out the rain and covered them with the other bodhisattvas.
After the rain stopped, the Xiucai said to the Bodhisattva: "Bodhisattva! If you can really manifest your spirit and have supernatural powers, then bless me to be the champion of the examination this time and become a county official, and I will definitely repay your great kindness: reshape your golden body and build a big city god temple for you." Let your incense be vigorous and be worshiped every day, what do you think?"
That Xiucai was really admitted to the top prize, and was personally selected by the emperor of the dynasty and gave him a county official, and this county official later funded the construction of the City God Temple.
During the period when this Chenghuang Temple was first built, the incense was vigorous, and there were a sea of people? The people of Li people in this radius of ten miles and eight townships all came to this Chenghuang Temple to burn incense and worship the Buddha, to ask for blessings for children, for wealth and longevity, and so on.
Everyone has it, every day is busy, the incense is particularly vigorous, the common people are full of praise, everyone praises the Bodhisattva in this Chenghuang Temple, that is to respond to the request.
If someone wants to borrow money from the Bodhisattva from the temple, or borrow something that needs urgently, and so on, just come to the temple the night before, kneel down and kowtow to the Bodhisattva, and then say to the Bodhisattva: What do you want to borrow, when will you return it? Come and pick it up on time before dawn, and you will be able to borrow everything they want.
In this way, the villagers in the eight townships within a radius of ten miles told each other, one spread ten, ten to hundred, and it was not long, and everyone within a radius of three hundred miles knew about it.
First of all, Zhang Shizhu, a villager near here, whose second daughter was married, came to my city god temple to ask for four large benches and a large table.
The next morning, when she came to the temple to take a look, she found what she wanted to borrow. After two days, it was all cleaned and returned.
Later, it was Ms. Wang from the next village, who also came to my temple to kowtow and offer incense, and borrowed two new quilts from me, saying that her third son would need them for marriage.
Before dawn, I also came to the temple to get things. After two days, they were all returned to the temple. Another time, there was a male benefactor who was in urgent need of money, and he had no relatives or friends, and he had no friends, forcing him to be desperate and pessimistic and desperate: he also came to my temple of the city god, knelt down and kowtowed to the Bodhisattva, and asked the Bodhisattva to be kind and lend him 100 taels of silver, which must be returned after three days, without delay, and so on.
Before dawn the next day, the man went to the temple and saw that there were 100 taels of silver, no more or less, so the man thanked the Bodhisattva and hurried back.
Three days later, the man returned 100 taels of silver to the Bodhisattva and kowtowed to the Bodhisattva in thanks.
Here's the thing: That gambler Wang Er, he is simply like a scum who has no heart, no lungs, and has a bad heart? He eats, drinks, prostitutes, and gambles all day long, and when he has no money to spend, he goes around cheating, abducting, and cheating, and does all kinds of immoral things that harm others and benefit himself.
He heard from others that the Bodhisattvas in this City God Temple were particularly effective, and they were responsive. Not only that, but he is also very kind and kind, no matter who borrows money from him, he can borrow anything, which is true.
There have been many people who have borrowed it, etc., and after this gambler Wang Er heard the good news, he also had a bad heart and wanted to pit that Bodhisattva.
So, one night, he came to this city god temple with a ghost in his heart, and also knelt down and kowtowed to the Bodhisattva, offered incense, and then pretended to lie to the Bodhisattva: "Please be merciful to the Bodhisattva, pity --- pity me, the second king: I am more than 30 people, and I finally became a daughter-in-law."
However, because he needed 200 taels of silver as a bride price, he came to the temple and knelt down to beg the Bodhisattva to be kind and lend him 200 taels of silver. After three days, it must be returned in full, and there will be a lot of points, etc.
Early the next morning, the second king entered the temple to take a look, and sure enough, he saw 200 taels of silver on the offering table. He hurriedly put away the silver, thanked the Bodhisattva and left.
Let's say that after this Wang Er got the 200 taels of silver from the temple, he bought some food, drink, and things to use.
He gambled and prostituted again, and before he could reach the third day, all the 200 taels of silver he had borrowed were spent.
On the evening of the third day, the Bodhisattva shouted loudly in the temple, urging the gambling ghost king to come to the temple to repay the money.
Besides, the second gambler, he has no money to pay back, so he wants to pay it back. He even plugged his ears with cotton, pretending not to hear.
The Bodhisattva shouted for three nights in a row, and his voice became louder and louder, and he never saw the gambling ghost king come to the temple to return his 200 silver.
Since then, the Bodhisattva has become angry, and she no longer borrows money or things. But those ordinary people who don't know the inside story, when they come to the temple to borrow money and things, they can't borrow money.
When people meet, they say: The Bodhisattva in this temple is no longer effective, just like that, it is spread ten, ten is passed on to hundreds, and gradually there are fewer and fewer people who come to the temple to burn incense, worship Buddha, and make wishes.
After a long time, this city god temple slowly fell into ruin, and became what it is now. The next morning, when Yehu woke up, he excitedly said to Yehu: "Demon sister! Brother Fox told you a strange thing, your brother had a dream last night! ”
After hearing this, the demon also said strangely: "Brother, that may not be a dream, the little sister also dreamed: After the Bodhisattva was worshiped by the two of us, he told us two a story?"
Those stories are really interesting, so good, just say: how is the Bodhisattva in this temple..... How effective, you can also lend money and things to nearby villagers, as long as you return it on time.
Just come to the temple the night before to borrow money, borrow things, and so on, and go to the temple before dawn to get what you want to borrow. However, he was later pitted by the gambler Wang Er, who was not right-hearted and wolf-hearted.
Since then, the Bodhisattva has been angry, and he will no longer borrow money, lend things to the world, and naturally it will no longer work!" When the fox and demon left, they also kowtowed to the Bodhisattva three times, bowed three times, and then went up the mountain to pick wild fruits and peaches.
