28. Land and Blood (9)

Since ancient times, intellectuals have been the most concerned about politics, and although the literati have always been inevitably ill with one kind or another, there is no doubt that they are more concerned about politics than ordinary people, and they are more clear about their political demands.

Until the Industrial Revolution, the violent revolutions initiated by the vast majority of the people at the bottom were aimed at eliminating the gap between the rich and the poor, religious beliefs, and abolishing unreasonable taxes. For ordinary people, living in peace and stability is everything, and only when life can't go on will they rise up to resist. As for what to do after the rebellion, how to run a country, what kind of country to build—these were questions that the people at the bottom had no time to think about and could not understand.

At Charlemagne, with the onset of the massive industrial revolution and the rapid development of the economy, more and more educated workers were needed in all walks of life, rather than illiterate coolies. As a result, education began to become widespread, and more and more people with basic education began to think about themselves and their countries. In this left-wing current, the intellectuals are once again at the forefront.

In the process of large-scale industrialization, the number of workers increased, and their health, illness, and accidents were also affected, and in order to improve working and living conditions, groups called "trade unions" in the modern sense should have been born to fight against the management. However, Charlemagne did not appear as such a group. There are two reasons for this: first, the conglomerates are too strong, and they will do everything they can to suppress the slightest hint of unionization, and second, Charlemagne's official officials do not like such groups that threaten the vested interests of the traditional aristocracy, and they are well aware that the growth of the masses at the bottom, whether in the legislature or in the streets, is a serious threat to the feudal monarchy. Therefore, they not only let the corporations severely suppress the workers' movement, but sometimes even went shirtless and dragged the troublemakers under the wall and shot them.

Under the double pressure of both management and the government, a large-scale and influential workers' movement has never been formed. But this does not mean that left-wing ideas have also been curbed, and those romantic, rebellious, and dissatisfied with the status quo are already trying to find a new way out.

Left-wing intellectuals see very clearly that **** is the most powerful pillar of imperialist expansion, and the consortium is an important driving force behind the scenes to promote the spread of right-wing ideologies such as **** and chauvinism. Therefore, the expansion of the army will make the entire national economic and social life subordinate to the needs of the ****, in order to ensure this kind of financial enhancement of armaments, it is bound to increase taxes, and eventually the burden of taxes will be pressed to the heads of many people at the bottom, making the already difficult life more impoverished.

These deviant wise men pointed out that only the working class and the general public could represent the interests of Charlemagne's nation as a whole, and that endless arming and expansion wars would not only increase the poverty of the people at the bottom, but eventually drag the entire country into the abyss of destruction. Only by opposing **** and imperialism can we avoid the destruction of the country by war and the heavy taxes imposed on the people.

Judging from later developments, the above argument is nothing less than prescient. However, in the context of the social environment at that time, Charlemagne's social strata were full of blind fanaticism and patriotism, so these wise men were destined not to be given the title and respect of "prophets". In the eyes of the upper echelons, they are defeatists who deceive and deceive the people; in the eyes of ordinary people, they are a group of "non-nationals" who sing the praises of the motherland all day long and deserve to be arrested by the gendarmerie. It is conceivable that all those insights have become the east wind of Malta, and even the bubble has not been able to churn, and it has been swallowed up by the frenzy of ****.

After Charlemagne's defeat and the rise of the elven camp, this group of left-wing intellectuals had neither the joy of prophesying being proved correct, nor the sorrow of the fall of the country, and an unprecedented anxiety swept over their hearts and souls.

The fall of Charlemagne**** is certainly worth celebrating, although it has paid a high price for it, but it also gives all Charlemagnees an opportunity to reflect on this reactionary thinking. In time, it is entirely possible to take advantage of the situation to bring about a citizens' revolution that overthrows the monarchy and establishes a republican state with the goal of pursuing "freedom, equality, and fraternity." However, the division of Charlemagne by the three great powers and the establishment of the Holy Gilmanian Empire by stepping on Charlemagne's corpse completely cut off this possibility.

The Holy Gilmanian Empire, formerly known as the Consortium, was a self-evident attitude towards the workers' movement and the affirmative movement. On top of this, there is even more racism and Charlemagne's authoritarian, righteous, and righteous system, whose core value is that "all races are born unequal", which is completely opposed to the idea of equal rights that "all beings are born equal". This highly sophisticated and complex system of government is extremely sensitive to any mass activity, especially the activities of the fourth-class citizens, who make up the majority, and even has laws to strictly control religious activities, as long as there is no government approval, let alone weddings, funerals, and even heaven and hell (funeral confessions and anointing must be reported in advance and supervised by government officials). It is not difficult to foresee that the empire will inevitably go all out to suppress left-wing organizations, legislating against assemblies, banning the publication of books, creating ideological crimes, or even simply eliminating them physically, all of which are possible. In addition, under the empire's pervasive surveillance network, the risks of underground activities are becoming more and more unbearable. It can be said that as long as the empire exists for one day, or the empire still adheres to the so-called state, society, and doctrine, there will be no space for the survival and activity of the left-wing affirmative action movement in this land.

There is only one path left for the left-wing intellectuals – armed struggle.

To be honest, the left wing has a longer history of using violence to spread ideas and attack political opponents than the right, and the methods are more professional. When the left wing invented the operation of the proletarian iron fist, the right wing was mainly engaged in mouth cannons. During the Great Depression, the two forces on the left and right in European countries used physical means to debate in order to seize power. ** The stormtroopers made good use of beer bottles and chair legs, the Italian blackshirts liked to fiddle with knives, and the workers' armed forces formed by the German Communist Party and the Bulgarian Communist Party were heavily distributed with a uniform standard of axes and sickles (which was very Soviet). By the time of the Spanish Civil War, the proletariat and the *** simply debated directly with machine guns and artillery.

In the face of the empire's rock-solid system and powerful machinery of violence, an armed uprising in a big city is tantamount to self-destruction. The only feasible way is to move to remote rural and mountainous areas, preserve the revolutionary forces as much as possible, develop the revolutionary armed forces, and wait for the time to come.

The direction is clear, but how to execute, how to organize, how to mobilize, how to cover, how to communicate...... Faced with so many problems, idealists who lack practical military experience don't even know where to start, let alone solve them. Seeing the time slipping away bit by bit, the surveillance network is being improved and tightened every day, and just when everyone is about to give up, an invitation letter with a golden hen pattern and signed "The Man in the High Castle" appears in front of them.

With that secret letter as an opportunity, Charlemagne's left-wing revolution took a difficult but sure first step.
