Chapter 10: The Daoya

The beggar carried the female Taoist on his back, followed the water, and walked all the way in the dark, and at noon on the second day, he really came down the mountain. At the foot of the mountain, the fertile fields and beautiful ponds are weaving, and the cattle and sheep shuttle and embellish, which is a peaceful atmosphere. Looking back at the endless mountains, the beggar finally breathed a sigh of relief. There was no wild fruit in the mountains to satisfy his hunger, so he went to the farmer's house to ask for some food to satisfy his stomach, asked for the direction and continued to hurry.

On this day, he traveled to a town. The streets are full of traffic, so it's not lively. It was the first time for the beggar to enter the city, looking at the well-dressed pedestrians and the dazzling array of stalls, there was novelty everywhere, and I couldn't help but linger. The beggar looked left and right, walked for a while, and then noticed that the pedestrians were all avoiding him from a distance, and his eyes were full of disgust. The beggar has been begging since he was a child, and he has long been unkempt and unclothed, and the female Taoist has suffered repeatedly, her clothes are torn, and she has not been in a coma for many days, and the moon-white robe has been dirty, no wonder pedestrians look sideways. Beggars are commonplace, and they don't take it to heart, but after calming down for a while, they remembered the purpose of this trip.

In the land of Yongzhou, everyone worships the Tao, and it has been controlled by the Chongzhen Sect since ancient times. However, there are only 1,000 people who truly worship the truth and Taoism, and they take cultivating the Tao and ascending to immortals as their important position, so how can they have the leisure to deal with the trivial affairs of the people? Therefore, the wisdom of the predecessors gave rise to the Taoist yamen who is in charge of the people's livelihood. All towns of a slight size have Taoist yamen, and the officials are lay disciples who are obsessed with Taoism.

Although the beggar is a wilderness boy, but also very clever, before entering the city has made up his mind, this trip is true thousands of miles, if you carry the female Taoist like this, the year of the monkey and the month of the horse will not arrive, in case the female Taoist has a mistake, he has become a sinner, now the only way to turn to the Taoist yamen, let the yamen escort the female Taoist back to the mountain. The beggar thought to herself, the female Taoist is the real fairy girl, and there is no reason for the yamen not to help.

When I asked the vendor for the road, the vendor looked impatient and pointed forward. The beggar thanked him and did as he was told, but when he reached the city wall, he realized that he had been deceived, so he had to ask again. In this way, it took half a day and half a town to find the location of the yamen.

The Taoist yamen occupies a very wide area, the gatehouse is three floors high, and the frieze plaque is written on the five gilded characters of "Qingyuan Town Daoya", solemn and magnificent. The two stone lions on the left and right are too tall to be angry but mighty, giving people invisible coercion. The five-step bluestone steps are even more hairy, so that the beggars dare not step lightly. It's just that under the bright sky, the vermilion gate is closed. On the stone pier next to the door, there was a person half-lying on it, with a scarf and hat covering his face, and he was napping himself.

The beggar plucked up his courage, poked the man, and said cautiously: "Uncle, please let me know, the Taoist fairy girl has something to ask to see." The man got up from the stone pier, looked around, and hurriedly asked, "Where is the fairy girl?" The beggar pointed to his shoulder and said, "The fairy girl is here!" The man fixed his eyes and saw a little beggar with unkempt hair and ragged clothes, carrying an equally filthy female beggar on his back, and suddenly rushed up in anger, and kicked the beggar down the steps with a kick, and said angrily: "Okay, you little flower, dare to disturb Lao Tzu's dreams, are you impatient?" followed by another kick, kicked the beggar away from the bluestone steps, and then sat back on the stone pier and continued his dream.

The beggar got up from the female Taoist with difficulty, looked at the female Taoist and said: "The fairy girl has fallen into the dust, and it is no different from me, a beggar, the tiger fell in Pingyang and was bullied by dogs." The man pointed at the beggar and said angrily: "What do you say, little thing?" The beggar said: "I said that you are a fairy girl with eyes and no beads, but you don't recognize it, call your master to see how he cleans you up." The man didn't laugh angrily, he didn't bother to get up and trouble the beggar, and gloated: "The Yasi is drinking in Wendao Building, if you have a kind, go and try it." ”

The beggar estimated that the so-called "Yasi" was the mind of the Taoist, so he didn't say more, and left with the female Taoist on his back. Seeing passers-by asking where the Mingwen Dao Building was, he went straight.

In the bustling downtown area, there is a dazzling restaurant. The upper middle and lower floors of the restaurant, carved beams and painted buildings, flying eaves and arches, are extremely magnificent. The beggar stood in front of the restaurant, thinking about the small tea shed in the village, and was amazed. Just as he was about to step up the stairs, a person suddenly flashed out of the stab, pushed it, and shouted, "Get out of the way!"

The beggar took three steps back, and finally stabilized his body and did not fall. When I looked up, it was a young man in Tsing Yi, with his hands folded and glaring angrily. The beggar said: "Little brother, I'll find the secretary of the Taoist government, and I will trouble you to report it." The little servant shouted: "Where did you come from, call Hanako, get out of the way, don't block the way of the guests." Seeing his snobbish face, the beggar also said angrily: "You are a janitor, why are you so arrogant." If the secretary comes, he will treat me as a guest, and you will look good then. ”

At this time, five people came out of the restaurant. The five of them staggered slightly, but they were quite interested, still talking and laughing, and did not pay attention to the dispute at the door. The little guy shouted to the beggar, "Don't get out of here!" and hurriedly turned around to serve the five people, flattering and flattering.

The beggar glanced at the little guy with contempt, and his heart was so disgusted that he didn't bother to entangle him anymore. When he retracted his gaze and wanted to find an opportunity to enter the restaurant, his heart moved, and he hurriedly looked at the little guy again, only to see that the little guy was tilting his head and aiming at himself, with a contemptuous smile in his eyes. The beggar hurriedly looked at the five people who were about to leave the restaurant. But seeing that the first person was short and fat, with a drunken face and a smile on his face, although the four people behind him were tall, they bowed their heads and waists, obviously the entourage. These five people all have a bun on their heads, the general moon-white robe, the outfit seems to be non-Tao, it seems to be vulgar, but the clothes of the short and fat people are inlaid with a few more gold embroidery threads, which adds a bit of luxury, and the clothes are embroidered with a Tai Chi pattern.

The beggar was quick-witted, and said in his heart: "Look at what this person is wearing, isn't it the Yasi?" and then looked at the little guy's gloating expression, which was even more certain. The beggar carried the female Taoist on his back, took three steps and made two steps, rushed to the short and fat man, and shouted, "The priest stays...... Ah......" Before the beggar could stand firmly, a big kick came, and he was kicked down the steps, rolling with the female Taoist, with gold stars in his eyes, and someone shouted and scolded: "Anything dares to stand in the way of the master, have you ever been tired of living?"
