Hongren knew Shenxiu's character well, and he was afraid that Shenxiu would find trouble with Huineng, so he wiped down the wall Huineng mention, and also commented, "I don't see sex!"

When all the monks, including Shenxiu, heard the evaluation of the five ancestors, they all dispersed and no longer cared.

The next day, the fifth ancestor came to the room in private, and at this time Huineng was cooking rice, and he still had the huge stone hanging from his waist.

Hongren nodded, "Those who seek the Tao and forget their bodies for the sake of the Fa should be like you." ”

Huineng said with a smile: "If you can preach, you will not hesitate." ”

Hiroshi asked, "Is the rice cooked?"

Huineng replied: "The rice has been ripe for a long time, and it still needs to be sifted!"

The fifth ancestor Hongren laughed, and said in his heart, it can be made, so Hongren knocked three times on the head with his cane, and turned to leave.

Huineng also understood what the five ancestors meant, although the two of them were talking about Chungmi, they were actually talking about Huineng's own Buddhism.

That night, at the time of the third watch, Huineng secretly came to Hongnin's meditation room, and Hongnin surrounded Huineng with a robe to prevent others from finding out. And explain the "Diamond Sutra" to Huineng.

After such a night for a long time, until one day, when the five ancestors said that "their hearts should be born out of nowhere", Huineng had an epiphany!

It turns out that all the ten thousand laws are inseparable from their own nature, and Huineng said five "how" in a row to express his introduction after enlightenment.

"What self-nature is self-pure, what self-nature is not born and destroyed, what self-nature is self-sufficient, what self-nature is unshakable, and what self-nature gives birth to ten thousand laws!"

In this way, Huineng enlightened with the Diamond Sutra and came to his first realm.

The fifth patriarch knew that Huineng had realized at this time, so he taught Huineng the method of teaching and the mantle of the patriarch, and said: "The birth of the Buddhas is a major event, so it is guided by random size, so there are ten places, three vehicles, gradual enlightenment and other purposes, thinking that it is a sect. However, with the supreme subtlety, secret and clear, true Dharma eye hidden, paid to the Supreme Buddha Buddha Buddha, spread and passed on the twenty-eighth life, to the Bodhidharma in this land, can be inherited by the master, so that now, now with the Dharma treasure and the robe used to pay you, good self-protection, no order to cut off, listen to me say: sentient beings come to the next seed, cause and effect are still born, ruthless neither seed, no sex nor life!"

After Zen Master Huineng knelt down to accept the clothes, he asked: "Since the law is accepted, who will be paid?"

What he meant was, I have now received the Fa, but to whom should this ancestral garment be delivered in the future?

The five ancestors replied: "Master Xi Dharma, the first time I came to this land, people did not believe, so this clothes are passed on, thought to be the body of faith, passed down from generation to generation, the law is transmitted from the heart to the heart, all make self-understanding and self-understanding, since ancient times the Buddha and Buddha only pass on the body, the master pays the heart, the clothes are disputes, stop you do not pass on, if you pass this clothes, life is like a hanging thread, you must go quickly, I am afraid that people will harm you!"

The Fifth Ancestor meant to tell Huineng that this token vestment was taught to you today, but this carries a huge crisis, you should leave here quickly, otherwise, someone will have bad intentions.

Zen Master Huineng asked again: "Where should I hide!"

The fifth ancestor replied: "Stop every time, and hide when you meet!"

After speaking, the five ancestors personally sent Huineng to Jiujiangyi overnight, before leaving, the five ancestors instructed Huineng: "In the future, Buddhism will flourish through you, three years after you leave Huangmei, I will be lonely, you hurry up to the south, so that you can do it yourself, don't rush out to spread the Dharma, you will have a catastrophe!"

Huineng Zen Master once again bowed to the five ancestors, and then set off to the south, and arrived at the Great Yuling in less than two months.

After the five ancestors sent Huineng away, they did not go to the hall to explain the Dharma to everyone for several days, and everyone was very puzzled whether the old monk was sick, so they went to greet him.

Among them, Shenxiu is the most worried, the great monk is already an enlightened person, and it is impossible for him to get sick with his cultivation, something must have happened!

Thinking of this, Shenxiu's heart "chuckled", oh no, this time is the time when the great monk wants to inherit the mantle of the ancestor, isn't the position of the abbot himself?!

Shenxiu hurriedly took a few juniors and disciples to visit Hongnin. On the grounds of visiting the sick, in fact, Shenxiu is worried that he is not the heir to the mantle, so he came to inquire.

When the Fifth Patriarch saw Shenxiu coming, he saw his intention at a glance, and directly told them: "I am not sick, the mantle and lineage of the ancestor have been transmitted to the south!"

Shenxiu was shocked and asked, "Who got the mantle!"

The Fifth Ancestor replied: "Naturally, it is the capable who can get it." ”

Some time ago, this little guy inexplicably packed up his luggage and left the temple, and Shenxiu didn't care about it at that time, but at this time, when he contacted Hongnin, Shenxiu understood, it turned out that it was this Huineng who grabbed his position!

Hongren is still there, and Shenxiu doesn't dare to be too presumptuous, but secretly sent some people to chase Huineng, hoping to take back the mantle left by the ancestor, but when Hongren passed away, Shenxiu no longer had any scruples, and since then, there has been a series of thrilling stories of Shenxiu leading hundreds of people to the south to chase and kill Huineng.

As the saying goes, good things don't go out, and bad things spread thousands of miles. I don't know who leaked it, but most people in Buddhism already know that the current abbot of Dongshan Temple is not the one who has really inherited the mantle of Bodhidharma.

The real master is in the south, being a walker.

And Huineng is in the south that Shenxiu and others are not familiar with, and has experienced all kinds of opportunities, so he has enough accumulation.

Finally, when Master Yinzong was preaching the "Nirvana Sutra", the two monks argued about the wind flags, one said that the wind moved, the other said that the flags moved, chattering endlessly, and neither could convince the other.

Huineng interjected, "It's not the wind, it's not the flags, it's your heart." ”

Everyone was surprised when they heard it, Master Yin Zong knew that this person was not simple, please sit down, and after some conversation, I knew that this is the real inheritance of the mantle of Bodhidharma Patriarch Huineng Zen Master!

Venerable Yin Zong gathered the crowd to shave and receive ordination for Huineng under the Bodhi tree in the Dharma Temple, and two months later, Huineng broke through the shackles, became sanctified, and reached the consummation of the fourth realm!
