The man was puzzled and asked, "Why do you worship yourself since you are a bodhisattva?" The Bodhisattva said, "I have encountered some problems, but I know that it is better to worship others than to seek myself, so I worship myself." ”

After Tang Yuan finished speaking, he paused, and after the people in the audience came to their senses, he smiled and said, "Donors, do you understand what the poor monk means?"

"Are you saying that the cultivation of an arhat is mainly on oneself?" someone hesitated.

"That's right!" Tang Yuan said, "The Mahayana Buddhism of the poor monk can only guide you and show you a clear path. ”

"But if you want to reach the other side of the bitter sea, you still need to work your own. ”
