Chapter 269: Emotions (Three Changes)
Thinking has a dual function, on the one hand, participants try to understand the situation in which they are involved, and on the other hand, their insights influence the course of events as the basis for decision-making.
If the course of the event is independent of the decision-making of the participants, the opinions of the participants can be equivalent to the opinions of the natural scientists, and if the decisions of the participants can have a knowledge base of even expediency, the results of the actions may be more in line with their intentions, but in fact the participants cannot be changed, the participants are based on an incomplete understanding, and the course of events bears the mark of this incompleteness.
In the natural sciences, there may also be a lack of separation between the object of study and the activity of the mind, but in a much more conciliatory form.
The most famous example is in quantum physics, where the act of observation interferes with the object of observation, leading to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, which effectively limits a scientist's ability to acquire knowledge.
But in the natural sciences such problems occur only at the limit, and for the participant this situation is at the center of his mind.
First, the scientist is careful not to disturb his subject, while the primary aim of the participant is to shape the situation in a way that satisfies him.
What's more, in quantum physics, it is only the act of observation that intervenes in the object of study, rather than the theoretical consciousness of the uncertainty principle.
But as far as the participants' minds are concerned, their own minds form part of the object to which they relate.
The positive achievements of the natural sciences are confined to those fields that effectively separate thinking from events, and when events include thinking actors, this field shrinks dramatically or even disappears.
