Chapter 21: Black Magic (Ask for Recommendations)

At one point, Matthew believed that Professor Horace Slughorn had waited in the Potions classroom because he wanted to invite him to join the Slug Club he had created.

The club's membership includes students who are considered outstanding by Slughorn, as well as relatives of famous and successful people, and is considered an elite group at Hogwarts.

But as it turned out, he was overthinking.

Headmaster Slytherin, who took Harry Evans to the school hospital and then returned to the Potions classroom, greeted Matthew with a tone of "concern" and told Matthew that he could come to his office if he had any problems at school, and that he would do his best to help.

Silence was not spoken about the "club".

It seems that he has not really met the standards in the eyes of this dean.

But it's a good start.

Matthew returned to the common room with supplies from Potions class.

"Blood is thicker than blood!" he whispered, touching the head of the serpent on the door of the common room.

The stone door was opened, and as he walked through the lively common room, he returned to his bedroom.

After a few days, Matthew had become accustomed to living at the bottom of the lake, hearing the sound of big and small waves all the time, or seeing schools of fish, octopuses and even other creatures swimming outside the window......

The night before, he had even witnessed a terrible monster with a human head and a fish, with a fork in his hand, looking into the dormitory, which almost startled him.

Soon he reacted that the other party should be a mermaid living in the black lake.

In order to prevent the mermaid from "peeping", he simply closed the curtains.

......

Just as Matthew put back the Potions supplies and prepared to head to the auditorium for dinner.

"Wakefield!" Draco Malfoy's voice rang out from behind him.

Matthew turned slowly and saw Malfoy's gloomy face, Crabbe and Goyle standing behind him like a hill.

In the boys' dormitory in Slytherin, the phenomenon of "huddles" is very serious.

Draco Malfoy was friends with Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle (or perhaps the latter two were his followers), while Theodore Noether was also a pure-blood, and had known them before he entered school......

Matthew Wakefield exists very awkwardly as if he had been forcibly inserted into this small group.

Plus Matthew, he didn't have the heart to deliberately please ...... Or try to fit into them.

So although it's a roommate in a dormitory, it can only be regarded as a nodding friend at most.

But it was the first time Malfoy had seen such a hostile expression on himself.

"Malfoy, is there something wrong?" he asked calmly.

"Slughorn invited you to join?" Malfoy asked coldly.

"Join?" Matthew frowned.

He quickly realized that Malfoy was already a member of the Slugs Club, and he was asking about this now.

So he shook his head.

A look of arrogance appeared on Malfoy's face, and he said ostentatiously, "It seems that your deliberate fawning over Potions class has not worked at all! You see that I didn't do anything, and he took the initiative to invite me on the first day of school!"

"Perhaps. Matthew shrugged his shoulders and said nonchalantly, "I'm going to go to the auditorium for dinner, are you going to come together?"

Malfoy felt like a punch had hit the sponge, and now he had a strange expression on his face.

"Then I'll go first. Matthew said lightly.

He then turned and left the Slytherin common room.

......

Life at Hogwarts goes on.

For first-year students, the most anticipated course is undoubtedly Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

Slytherin and Ravenclaw's first-year students didn't take the course until Friday afternoon.

More than twenty immature faces came to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom on the fourth floor with great anticipation, quietly waiting for the start of the class.

Professor Rozier was just as Matthew had imagined, and the first time he saw this professor, he knew that this professor must be difficult to deal with.

As the bell rang, she entered the classroom very punctually, still wearing the neat black trench coat.

"Defence Against the Dark Arts is your most important lesson at Hogwarts, and one that will stay with you for the rest of your life. She said:

"If anyone dares to mess with my class, I'll ask him out and never allow him to set foot in here again. I warned you now!"

This majestic opening remark completely shocked the entire class.

Neither Slytherin nor Ravenclaw students dared to giggle so much in Potions and Charms classes, and the whole classroom was so quiet that you could hear a needle drop on the floor.

Glancing at the quiet crowd, Professor Rozier continued:

"Very well, at the beginning of this first lesson, I want to ask you a question, what is black magic?"

As soon as she finished speaking, one arm was raised in the air.

It's Hermione Granger of Ravenclaw.

"Miss Granger. Professor Rozier called her name.

"Black magic is evil witchcraft created and used by dark wizards. They are usually capable of causing great pain and suffering to the caster, who is aware of the effects of the spell and has the will to see the harmful consequences occur. ”

Hermione replied quickly and fluently.

This answer is copied from the Dark Arts: Self-Defense Guide in its entirety...... Or memorized.

Matthew had seen this paragraph too, but apparently he couldn't memorize it as skillfully as Hermione.

Professor Rozier's face didn't wave, she just gestured for Hermione to sit down.

"Miss Granger's answer is completely wrong!" she said without mercy.

"First of all, magic itself is not good or evil, it is only as good as the wizard who wields it!
