The first time I came into contact with the Romance of the Gods was when I was a child watching comic books. Journey to the West is a TV series to watch (old version)
Later, after growing up and reading, I found the original book again and read through it superficially.
There is a difference between these two books.
Journey to the West and Romance of the Gods were both written in the Ming Dynasty. Journey to the West was written earlier.
The land of China is a place of polytheistic beliefs, in fact, the whole of East Asia is polytheistic beliefs.
But there are only a few big religions. The earliest witches, as well as the belief in the gods of various peoples divided by witches.
Subsequently, in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there was the germ of Taoism in the land of China, among which Laozi and Zhuangzi were the initiators of this thought.
By the middle and late Han Dynasty, there was already a rudimentary form of Taoism.
Subsequently, around this time, Buddhism also entered East Asia.
Since then, these two sects have begun to compete with each other in the land of China, and they have borrowed from each other to evolve.
Until the founding of New China, these two sects, with the help of the power of dynasties, either the east wind overwhelmed the west wind, or the west wind overwhelmed the east wind.
During the Ming Dynasty, there was a scholar who believed in Buddhism and wrote "Journey to the West".
The basic idea of this book is to promote Buddhism and establish the legitimacy of Buddhism with legends and stories that are popular among the people.
Subsequently, about a few decades later, another book appeared, that is, "Fengshen Bang".
The author of this book is not 100% sure who it is, but it can be verified that Xu Zhonglin has mainly made revisions.
Some people say that this is a book by Buddhism to discredit Taoism. In fact, this is not the case, this should be a book written by Taoism in response to Buddhism to explain the relationship between Taoism and Buddhism.
It's a pity that compared to Journey to the West, the Romance of the Gods is very ungrounded. This may have something to do with the quality of the writer. (According to legend, it was a Taoist who was not angry after seeing Journey to the West, and also wanted to find someone to write a book to promote Taoism.) Helplessly, my net worth is not rich, I can't afford too much silver, and I can't find a high-level scholar. )
Now that I think about it, if the current online god is worn back to the Ming Dynasty, he will definitely be able to write a book of gods that will make Taoism raise his eyebrows.
After saying the above gossip, I want to say that everyone has their own mind and their favorite mythological characters.
Stories, they are all made up slowly.
Today I want to say sorry, I don't have time to write the text, and I hope to be able to understand the readers who support this book.
