Chapter 17: Transfiguration Teacher (Ask for Recommendation)
That night, Matthew Wakefield slept soundly.
The creatures of the black lake that swim by from time to time outside the window, as well as the gentle sound of waves that sound in your ears at any time, are "accompanied".
Didn't do any weird dreams.
......
At six o'clock the next morning, Matthew walked out of the dormitory.
Before leaving, he fed Toad a few breadworms and locked the empty suitcase.
I've long heard that the stairs at Hogwarts are very complicated, and some of them often change positions on their own, and some portraits and ghosts even deliberately give directions to new students......
So Matthew deliberately got up early, in order to avoid getting lost between the complicated corridors, and hoped to familiarize himself with the road conditions.
But it turned out that he was overthinking. The staircases are far less complicated than they might seem, and there are detailed signage at each of the staircases, and each floor of the castle has a portrait dedicated to giving directions to first-year students.
Everything was arranged with great care.
Matthew relieved himself and made his way to the auditorium.
The Great Hall is the main meeting place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Students usually dine here, receive mail and packages from owls, and attend special events hosted by the school.
Even though it's still early, there are already scattered students eating breakfast here.
Matthew joins them.
Breakfast is always the most hearty in England, even at Hogwarts.
As the Muggle proverb goes, "Eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch, and a beggar for dinner!"
It's not as luxurious as yesterday's dinner, but it's rich enough—
Bacon, sausage, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, baked beans, potato wedges, croissants, Danish rolls, fried bread, cereal, milk......
There's even black pudding!
With the exception of the black pudding, Matthew took a little bit of the same.
After feasting, the rest of the food on the plate, as well as the plate itself, is gone.
However, just as Matthew was leaving, he met an acquaintance at the entrance of the auditorium.
"Wakefield. Penelope Crivat stopped.
"Hello, Miss Kerryvat. Matthew smiled at her and nodded.
"I didn't expect you to be sorted into Slytherin. Penelope said, "I mean, very few Muggle-born students are sorted there......"
"I was surprised by that too. ”
"Have a great time at Hogwarts!"
"Thank you!"
The two exchanged a few simple pleasantries.
When the two separated, Lestrange, who was in the same grade and house, happened to come over and pass by Matthew.
They didn't know each other very well, so they didn't say hello to each other.
......
The first class in the morning was Transfiguration.
Matthew arrived at the classroom half an hour early.
Transfiguration is taught by two houses, Slytherin and Hufflepuff. When he entered the classroom, he saw that there were already three or two first-year Hufflepuff freshmen waiting here.
Finding a front-row seat to sit down, Matthew noticed something strange about the classroom.
All the windows were covered and sealed with black curtains, and the classrooms were lit by a dozen candles in broad daylight.
Matthew frowned, then took out his Guide to Elementary Transfiguration, along with the black walnut wand, and placed them on his desk.
The first-year students of the two houses were soon in place, and with Professor Grindelwald's reminder yesterday, no one would be late for this first class.
Sitting next to Matthew was a tall, strong, stocky girl...... He vaguely remembered the Sorting Hat calling her name, as if it were "Millicent Boss"?
Professor Troka soon arrived.
He looked a little better than he had been last night.
But he was still pale and very haggard.
He picked up the roster and began to roll call first—
Susan Bones ...... Millison Persted...... Tracy Davis ......"
Professor Troka's voice was hoarse, as if he hadn't spoken in a long time.
After the roll call, he put down the roster in his hand and glanced at the whole class.
"To be honest, I was honored and surprised when Professor Grindelwald approached me and asked me to become a Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts. His hoarse voice slowly spoke:
"I'm not sure if I'm up to the job. But now that I'm at Hogwarts, I'm going to do my best to share what I know. ”
Draco Malfoy, in the back right, suddenly let out a snicker...... He seemed to be laughing at Professor Troka's decadent face and unseemly dress, along with his henchmen Crabbe and Goyle.
As if he hadn't heard him, Professor Troka continued: "Transfiguration, of all magic, is undoubtedly the most ingenious and the most dangerous. ”
"In this course, I will teach you how to change the shape and appearance of certain objects, and even how to change their essence......"
As he spoke, he waved his wand.
The podium in front of him began to slowly grow smaller, and finally turned into a dexterous badger.
The badger scurried around the classroom, even leaving a small paw print on Matthew's desk.
And when the badger scurried to Draco Malfoy's side, Professor Troka waved his wand again—
The badger's body begins to grow slowly and eventually turns into a giant snake.
Draco Malfoy let out a scream of fright and hugged Crabbe tightly.
Their embarrassed performance caused everyone to laugh.
The serpent slowly crawled back in front of Professor Troka, and finally changed back to the podium.
Under the podium, many students were instantly attracted and couldn't wait to start learning right away.
"If you want to learn Transfiguration well, you have to master two qualities. Professor Troka smiled and continued, "First of all, decisive—"
"Transfiguration is different from ordinary spells, it is the most rigorous and precise form of magic. The slightest hesitation and distraction will lead to its incompleteness, and even any unnecessary swing or spin of the wand will lead to its failure. ”
"Secondly, be cautious—"
"Every process of transformation is an extremely dangerous process. And the failure of any transformation can lead to irreversible consequences, resulting in a catastrophe!"
"Sixteen fantastic beasts are known to have been born in connection with the wizard's failed Transfiguration, including the infamous 'five-legged monster'......"
"And all over the world, every year, at least dozens of wizards die or are disabled for life because of their failed Transfiguration!"
"I advise you to keep all this in your notebook and in your heart. ”
