CHAPTER XXXI

Day 4 of the Lost in the Jungle Diary

I was awakened by the annoying noise, the morning sun was a little dazzling, and there were many black figures fluttering around me. Pen ~ fun ~ pavilion www.biquge.info

It was a black strange bird half a meter tall, about a dozen of them, and it formed a semicircle around us. The tip of their beak curved sharply downward, and their blood-red eyes stared at Aunt Shan behind me.

The little thing is baring its teeth at them, and from time to time it takes the initiative to attack, and the attacked bird will flutter away for a distance, and then slowly lean back when the little thing goes to chase another of its kind.

They don't attack, but they don't walk away either, they just surround them not far or close. But if you don't pay attention to it, they will gradually get closer, test your bottom line a little bit, and then scatter again the moment you attack, and the cycle repeats.

This style reminds me of the most notorious scavenger on the planet--- the vulture.

They are keen, as if they could smell death, and were able to find their dying targets accurately, and they were patient, like kraft candy residues stuck deep in the roots of their teeth, following their prey until the latter's life path came to an end, and they had no strength to resist.

This time, they were targeting Aunt Shan.

It was even weaker than yesterday, and when I tried to feed it water, I even had to break open its motionless upper and lower jaws. The eyes that blinked occasionally were the only thing in Aunt Shan's body that could prove that she was still alive.

Spirit Bear's condition is much better, and although I am still unconscious, new skin has begun to grow on my body despite the fact that I have instilled Luo Shen Fu with all my strength every day.

My high fever still didn't go away, and my body was still chilling, and cold sweat was pouring out from time to time, sticky and greasy. I drank a little of the fresh water I had stored, and as for the hot bath, it was just a dream that was too luxurious.

Now I am in a dilemma.

First, I need to go out and collect enough firewood. There are only faint embers left from last night's campfire, and I must add some wood from time to time to make sure the fire is not extinguished before tonight, or I will have to spend another half an hour relighting the fire. And with my current physical condition, I doubt that I still have the strength.

Besides, I'm going to get some food. Neither Xiong Ling nor me, or even Aunt Shan, can't go hungry to fight injuries.

It's just that I'm worried that once I leave, the harassment of these strange birds will turn into a real attack.

I talked to the little thing, and she spat out Nedan and killed one by surprise, scaring the other birds out of the way. The predicament eased slightly, but the flock did not leave, but stood farther away than just now and observed. The dead companions were also turned into food in their eyes, which attracted two strange birds to join the army of strong onlookers.

I dragged the dead bird back, and at least the meat was on the ground for today.

After the little thing retracted Nedan, it lay on the ground in a languid. She's still too young, and every time she finishes her ultimate, she has to lose her energy for a while, so she usually uses it with caution. But since entering the jungle, under the severe situation, I have been forced to use it as a rifle with a relatively long CD.

I knew that it would not be long before the encirclement of these strange birds would shrink and tighten again, so I quickly took advantage of this moment to run out and collect some firewood. I also ran to the stream where I picked up the turtle yesterday and tried my luck, and of course, the good thing that happened before did not happen again. I had to go back with some water from the skull and the turtle shell.

I used all the firewood, divided the bonfire into four piles, and tightly surrounded Aunt Shan and Spirit Bear. These strange birds are still afraid of fire and do not dare to get too close to the fire. Although this consumes a bit of firewood, I can at least have time to go out and collect more firewood.

A whole morning passed in my battle of wits with the strange birds, and the firewood gradually accumulated enough amounts, but I also felt weaker and weaker. The feeling of dizziness hovered in my mind from time to time, and the chill on my body came up wave after wave, even if I was close to the fire.

I cut open the dead bird's belly, took out its water, threw it into the fire, and dripped all the blood that was still warm into Aunt Shan's mouth. The little thing, knowing that I was about to get something to eat again, crouched down like a gluttonous dog, watching unblinkingly as I stuffed the mushrooms and sour fruits left over from yesterday into the stomach of the dead bird.

Instead of removing the feathers, I ran to the stream, wrapped the whole bird in silt, and then went back and buried the mud shallowly in the earth, and carefully moved a campfire directly above.

When I was done, I felt lightheaded, as if I was going to pass out in the next second. had no choice but to rest on Aunt Shan's body for a while. Feeling a little recovered, I forcibly climbed up again and began Spirit Bear's daily routine of healing.

A desperate situation can really squeeze out all of a person's potential, and in the past, I definitely didn't have enough willpower to do this.

But now, my idea is simple.

I don't want to die.

Maybe the next moment I'll be a feast for some beast that happens to pass by, and the carcass of it will be eaten by the strange birds that are eyeing me all around. But at least for this moment, I want to try to live.

After the end of Spirit Bear's daily routine healing, it was almost dusk. I removed the campfire again, and little by little, I took the mud out of the dirt with the heat. The silt had all solidified together, and was hardened by the heat of the campfire. I smashed the mud with a stone, and the feathers that wrapped it were stripped away. The tender and smooth bird meat was exposed, accompanied by dripping fat, exuding a rich meat aroma, which attracted the surrounding birds to a commotion.

Fortunately, I lit enough campfires to deter me.

The bird is half a meter long, is very large, and has the size of a large turkey after removing its feathers. I generously threw a large piece of meat to the little thing, picked up a bird's leg myself, put it in my mouth and nibbled on it.

It's a little hot, but the mushroom aroma is completely infiltrated, and there is no salt, but it can be mixed with the flavor of sour fruit, which has a unique flavor.

The food made me raise my eyebrows happily, and when I turned around, I met the bright eyes of the bear spirit.

I was stunned for a second, and then handed over the bird leg in my hand.

"Oh, meat. ”

"Well, thank you. ”

She straightened up a little rustily, took her thigh, and didn't dislike being bitten by me, and opened her mouth to eat.

"Uh...... When did you wake up?" I picked up a bird's leg again and stuffed it into my mouth.

"When you take this from the ground," she said, raising the flesh in her hand, "how long have I been unconscious?"

"It's the third day. ”

Her gaze swept over the campfire, the pyre, the dew collection device, and after a brief pause on the vessel made of the skull, she moved to the dying she-bear.

"Overdraft, another day of rain, bad appetite, not much to eat, this is ......" I explained crampedly, although I tried my best, but because I probably knew the importance of Aunt Shan in the girl's heart, there was always some guilt.

Spirit Xiong didn't say much, and seemed quite calm. She looked down at herself, the burned skin had recovered, and the rest could heal on its own with her own recovery ability, leaving at most some innocuous small scars.

"You saved me?"

"I happened to pick some herbs for the symptoms, and some of my lost memories came back, and it seems that I knew some herbal medicine......" I muttered.

"Thank you. ”

"Huh?"

"It doesn't matter if you know how to heal, or if you have other secrets," she smiled at me, like a blooming lily.

"Thank you. ”

My heart skipped a beat.

"You're welcome. I said.

"Next, I'll take care of Aunt Shan. ”

I was about to let her rest again, when a wave of dizziness suddenly hit, and I seemed to have reached the limit after working hard for two days with a fever.
