Chapter 58: The Real Headmaster (Asking for Recommendations)

Another peaceful night.

Matthew and his friends in the dorm ate some cold quail from the house-elves sent by Horace Slughorn.

Then in the soft sound of the waves outside the window, he fell asleep peacefully.

......

The next day was Halloween, and the students of Hogwarts had a day off.

Matthew Wakefield went to the auditorium for some breakfast and then habitually came to the library.

Since it was still early, there was no one in the library.

He wandered from row to shelf, as if looking for something.

It didn't take much effort for him to find a book, a somewhat worn-out book that looked like someone had been torn out.

He had just picked up the book when suddenly a small hand grabbed his arm.

"Matthew!" a familiar voice sounded in his ears, "I want to talk to you!"

Matthew squinted at her and cleared his throat, "Good morning, Miss Granger!"

"Good morning!" Hermione Granger nodded coldly, and then suddenly asked, "I finally caught you, have you been avoiding me lately?"

"Of course not!" Matthew shook his head without hesitation, looking innocent: "How is it possible!"

"Do you have time to talk to me now?" Hermione looked at Matthew with a solemn expression.

"Alright!" Matthew could only shrug his shoulders and nodded.

......

If you want to chat, you can't do it in the library.

Otherwise, Mrs. Pince's anger was not something they could bear.

Matthew went to Mrs. Pince first, and went through the formalities of borrowing the book he had just found and its book.

And Hermione Granger was waiting for him at the door of the library.

"Where are we going to talk?" asked Matthew, holding a book in one hand.

"I know of a secret location!" Hermione smirked.

"Where?" Matthew gave her a suspicious look.

"Near the Potions classroom, between the castle and the basement, there was a girls' bathroom. Hermione replied, "Of course, it's already deserted." So don't worry, there's nothing over there except a ghost who cries all day. It's secluded and safe!"

Matthew couldn't help but blink, the girl Hermione was talking about...... It seems to be where the entrance to the secret room is located.

He shook his head without hesitation, with a resolute face: "No, I can't enter the girls' bathroom, that goes against my principles of life!"

"But......" Hermione hesitated for a moment.

"Find a classroom where no one is around, if you really have something that you can't be heard. Matthew said as he glanced at the passers-by who came and went in front of the library.

"Alright!" Hermione Granger had to give in.

......

They chose the closest history of magic classroom.

The classroom was empty and pitch black.

Matthew opened the curtain of a window, sat down nearby, and began to flip through the tattered old book in his hand.

"If there's anything to do, just tell me!" he said slowly.

"Matthew!" Hermione Granger's voice sounded a little serious, "Don't you have a sense of crisis in the recent frequent attacks?"

"No!" Matthew looked up and shook his head.

"You really ......" Hermione glared at him as if she hated it.

She continued: "Four students have already been attacked...... Except for Malfoy, the fate of the others is unknown......"

"Professor Grindelwald has already said that the castle is safe now and there will be no more attacks!" Matthew replied calmly.

"Do you really believe him?" Hermione's voice was full of doubt.

"There is no doubt about it!" Matthew said.

"Are you really sure Headmaster Grindelwald is at Hogwarts?" Hermione said sharply, gritting her teeth.

Matthew's face became slightly strange.

"Looks like you're aware of it!" Hermione said, a triumphant expression.

"Nope. Matthew, however, shook his head: "I saw him at the guest of honor just as I was having breakfast." ”

Hermione looked around like a thief.

Next, her voice became very small, "But Professor Rozier isn't there, is he?"

"I don't understand what you mean. Matthew looked expressionless.

"Headmaster Grindelwald and Professor Rozier have barely been in front of us at the same time!" Hermione insisted.

"I think it's obvious because Professor Rozier is injured......" Matthew retorted flatly, "and, weren't they all present at the dinner last night!"

"Last night was a Halloween dinner!" Hermione Granger's expression looked very serious, "In previous years, Headmaster Gellert Grindelwald had never been absent from such a formal banquet...... But other than these important moments, he barely spent much time at Hogwarts!"

"Because Professor Grindelwald is busy!"

Matthew replied without hesitation.

That's not a convincing reason. Hermione looked a little dismissive:

"I'm sure...... Headmaster Gellert Greenwald, who appeared at Hogwarts during this time, was all disguised by Professor Rozier, through the use of 'Polyjuice Potion'...... In the first lecture, Professor Slughorn described the effect of the potion......"

"Of course I know about the polyjuice decoction. Matthew quickly interrupted her: "However, this is a very serious accusation!"

"You waitβ€”"

Hermione opened her heavy bag and quickly pulled a book out of it.

Turning the book to one of its pages, she said with a resolute expression:

"And ...... Because Gellert Greenwald was never the real, Headmaster of Hogwarts!"

This time, Matthew Wakefield was truly stunned for a moment.

"It's a more serious charge!" he said, his voice a little solemn.

"It is clearly described in "Hogwarts History" that every headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is chosen by the castle itself......" Hermione's voice became very fast: "Because the castle of Hogwarts is an extremely powerful magical creation......"

β€œ...... Grindelwald was not the headmaster of Hogwarts at all, and he was not recognized by Hogwarts Castle at all. So when he appeared at Hogwarts, the castle would naturally reject him and suppress his power, so he couldn't stay at Hogwarts for long......"

"So, who is the real headmaster?" asked Matthew blandly.

"I don't know, but the only thing I know for sure is that he's alive!" Hermione replied firmly.
