Chapter 273: Affinity with the Buddha
Summer is coming, and the morning sun is warm.
Shi Zhixuan stood in front of a temple, leaning on the doorway on one side of the temple, squinting at the other door with angry eyes.
The plaque of 'Yicheng Temple' hangs high, and inside and outside the temple, there are three or five monks cleaning the flat ground paved with bluestone slabs, turning a blind eye to his movements.
Where the line of sight falls, the temple gate is full of convex and concave patterns with a great sense of three-dimensionality, the color is mixed with vermilion and green, and the eyes of the view are dizzy......
No need to ask, these are Shi Zhixuan's cheap master Zhang Seng Xuan's masterpieces, many Buddha and Bodhisattva murals in the temple are also from Zhang Seng Xuan's handwriting, because of the three-dimensional convex and concave sense of these pictures, the temple was also called the convex and concave temple by the people of the time, and its reputation was shocked.
And Shi Zhixuan, on the orders of his master, began to observe and speculate on these paintings one by one from the gate early in the morning to understand the painting skills......
It has been two months since he was transferred to Zhang Seng Miao by the Pei brothers. After the master and apprentice wandered around the north, they traveled all the way south and arrived at Jiankang (Nanjing) yesterday, and came to the Yicheng Temple six or seven miles northwest of Jiankang City.
Since Hou Jing rebelled a few years ago and starved to death Emperor Wu of Liang, the Liang Guojing division Jiankang City has always been the center of the storm, the situation is tense, Zhang Seng Ben hung an idle post in the Southern Liang Imperial Court, for the direct secretary of the Pavilion to know the painting, the official title is the general of the right army, Wu Xing Taishou first-class, although not really in charge of power, but also to mix a beautiful residence, there is no shortage of expenses.
However, now that Jiankang City is in chaos, and there is no emperor and court who are serious about affairs, Zhang Shengqiu, an idle official, naturally has neither a place to live nor a place to live.
Fortunately, when the temple was built many years ago, Zhang Seng Miao painted inside and outside the temple, and had a good relationship with the abbot of the temple, Master Daoxian. This time, I came to live for a while. Not a villain.
Moreover. Because of the selfless dedication of Emperor Wu of Liang, Buddhism in the Southern Dynasty was extremely prosperous, and there were more than 700 Buddhist temples near Jiankang City alone, which has become one of the most powerful forces here.
No matter how rampant careerists such as Hou Jing, Chen Baxian, and Wang Seng Bian are, they dare not let the soldiers harass such a large Buddhist temple as Yicheng Temple, otherwise they will stab the unprovoked Mafengwo!
Therefore, after Shi Zhixuan's master and apprentice lived in the temple, they were quite quiet, and then looked at the Jiankang City that was panicked all day long and black clouds were six or seven miles away. I only felt that the temple was separated by a red wall, and it seemed that there was a paradise and a battlefield of war, and I was even more shocked by the prestige of the Buddhist forces.
At this time, the sky was just dawning, Shi Zhixuan looked at the brushwork and techniques of the temple gate paintings without a match, and how much he really understood and how much he went to his heart, I am afraid he himself did not know.
In fact, he was not very interested in painting in the first two months, and now he is not even more enthusiastic at all!
Soon. The monks outside the door finished sweeping the steps and were about to enter the temple. Shi Zhixuan asked one of the young novices, "Senior Brother Dazhou...... Is it time for breakfast?"
"Amitabha Buddha ......" Dazhou held a broom in one hand and stood up in the other hand to salute, and said, "Senior Brother Dade...... The poor monks are going to the main hall to do their morning class, and after the morning class, they will have a fast meal!"
Yes, in view of the fine tradition of many people in the Holy Gate, Shi Zhixuan has been living in the temple since yesterday, and he has followed the customs of the locals, and compared with the "big" character of the younger generation of monks in the temple, he gave himself the name of "Dade".
At that time, the lofty and arrogant name of 'Dade' shocked the abbot Daoxian......
Shi Zhixuan's eyes flashed, and he hurriedly said, "Senior Brother Dazhou...... I have heard that the Dharma is broad and profound, and I am very impressed, can I do the morning class with you?"
Da Zhou said gently: "The sand door is wide open, and the breadth is fate...... Senior Brother Dade has this intention, very good, very good!"
At that moment, the two of them entered the temple together and went straight to the Daxiong Treasure Hall.
In fact, the morning class starts before dawn in the early morning, and it should be almost over.
Shi Zhixuan followed the boat into the main hall, only to see the middle-aged monk Daoxian Master sitting in front of the Buddha statue as the leader, there are about 200 monks standing neatly in the hall, both old and young, are reciting the "Heart Sutra" in unison, that is, the "Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra", and chanting for a while.
According to the custom, the morning class is to recite the "Lengyan Mantra", "Great Compassion Mantra", "Ten Little Mantras", and "Heart Sutra" once, and the "Heart Sutra" is notoriously short, which shows that this time is really coming to an end.
Facing the door of the hall, Master Daoxian, who presided over the morning class, saw Shi Zhixuan follow the boat in, and stood directly in the last row on the edge of the middle aisle, and began to chant the scriptures, and couldn't help but move his eyes slightly.
Shi Zhixuan seemed to be reverently chanting, but his subtle spiritual sense could clearly sense that Master Dao Xian had been secretly paying attention to him, and in a short time, his gaze wandered over him five times in a row.
When I first saw him yesterday, Shi Zhixuan was taken aback, this monk is not old, his internal strength is also poor, and he is barely second-rate, but his spiritual power is strong, which is comparable to a half-step grandmaster-level master, which shows the profundity of his Buddhism.
Therefore, relying on the curious characteristics of children, in just half a day yesterday afternoon, Shi Zhixuan roughly touched the situation of the temple, and learned a piece of information from an old monk that made him vomit - Master Daoxian was born in Zen Buddhism in the north, and is a disciple of the three ancestors of Zen Buddhism, that is, one of the disciples of the four ancestors of Zen Daoxin......
However, Daoxin is the mantle disciple of the three patriarchs, and Dao Xian is probably barely a disciple in the room, and the two are not comparable in Buddhist cultivation, martial arts cultivation and status, and now Dao Xian is more likely to be a direct subordinate of Daoxin.
And this Daoxin is one of the future 'Four Great Holy Monks', to paraphrase a sentence of Buddhism, he Shi Zhixuan really has a relationship with Buddhism, and the Taoist Holy Monk is the "cause and effect" cultivated by several generations.
Of course, Shi Zhixuan, who has read through all the books in the Shaolin Temple, is now theoretically attained in Zen Buddhism, and I am afraid that it is not much worse than Daoxin, the four ancestors of Zen Buddhism, but he will not pass on the martial arts of Zen Buddhism in this world.
If there is any faction in Buddhism that is the most sinicized, it should be Zen Buddhism, also known as the Buddha's Heart Sect, which is a separate transmission outside the sect.
Zen Buddhism is not Han Buddhism, nor is it separated from Han Buddhism, but is a native Buddhism with Chinese characteristics - Han Buddhism (i.e., Zen Buddhism).
In fact, in Shi Zhixuan's view, the most obvious characteristic of the Zen method is to emphasize the inner self-evidence, and this self-proof is exactly the same as Zhuangzi's sitting and forgetting, Xinzhai and Chao Che, which is very different from the characteristics of the original Buddhism and other Buddhist schools transmitted from Tianzhu, but it is like Taoism dressed in Buddhist skin!
It can also be said that many Chinese monks benefited a lot from studying Zhuangzi's practice of sitting and forgetting, so they changed the name of this method to Zen Na, which is characteristic of Buddhism, and thus created a new school from Buddhism, Zen Buddhism.
In order to prove that it is also orthodox Buddhism, Zen Buddhism has a long history, so it went back a few generations and found a Tianzhu monk as the patriarch - Bodhidharma.
In fact, the various theories and practices of Zen Buddhism were developed by generations of Chinese monks in the past few hundred years, and they really have little to do with Bodhidharma.
All monks know that the only method passed on by the first ancestor of Zen Buddhism Bodhidharma to the second ancestor Hui Ke is called the heart seal, that is, the two hearts are imprinted, that is, Bodhidharma does not say a word, and picks at Hui Ke's eyes, do you understand?
Hui Ke was stunned, and could only say a word, and bowed to Bodhidharma.
Then Hui Ke went back to play freely, because he was an authentic Middle-earth native, and he had been studying Confucianism and Lao Zhuang Yixue until he was forty years old, and it was unlikely that he could make something out of nothing, so he could only learn more from Confucianism and Lao Zhuang Yixue!
Then, when Hui Ke taught the next generation of disciples, he first taught some of his own self-realized private goods, and then the next generation of disciples went back again, and on the basis of Hui Ke's theory, he was free to play and learn from the culture of various Chinese sects again......
In this way, after two or three hundred years, the various practice methods and theories of Zen Buddhism have finally been gradually perfected.
Bodhidharma himself may be good at Buddhism and martial arts, but no matter how you look at it, the complete Zen inheritance has nothing to do with Bodhidharma, but the later generations of developers can make their private goods carry forward and pass on forever, and they can vigorously buckle the source of private goods to Bodhidharma's head to enhance their persuasiveness!
"However, today, whose 'private goods' have a lot of great virtues and holy monks?--The Buddha has an unknown number of thousands of Buddhist scriptures in his mind!"
After the morning class, Shi Zhixuan followed the boat to the dining hall to have breakfast, and at the same time secretly satisfied, he really wanted to use the Buddhist scriptures in his head, and this holy monk was also ...... Hey!
Unlike the rest of the short-lived cults and cults, Buddhism has a complete religious concept, and starting from kindness and righteousness, Buddhism can be described as a righteous and upright law, and is not afraid of questioning.
As long as this righteous path is thoroughly developed and has a large number of followers, it will be impossible to be extinct!
However, the Dharma is indestructible, but it can change, and the person who dominates the Dharma and holds Buddhism is even more changeable!
And this person, why can't it be himself?
The highest level of destroying the enemy is not to knock the enemy to ashes, but to turn the enemy into your own dog!"
Raising a bowl with all the monks to eat pickles and gruel, Shi Zhixuan's heart was racing, but he felt that the pickles in his mouth were not salty at all, and the gruel was thin enough, so he couldn't help but mutter: This kind of unnutritious light food is not enough to support physical development, where does it get the strength to practice boxing?
In the past two months, without the suppression of Pei's door rules, he has no scruples, and he has practiced boxing skills at will, forging his body and building a foundation.
Since Zhang Seng Miao did not start teaching him the superior martial arts of the Huajian School, there was no reason to prohibit him from cultivating on his own or cultivating the martial arts of other schools.
After all, the method of building the foundation of kung fu and sculpture passed down by Zhang Seng Xuan is not suitable for cultivation anytime and anywhere, and the cultivation effect is not as good as Shi Zhixuan's own tailor-made boxing skills, which are finely adjusted according to the actual situation of the body all the time.
Shi Zhixuan had already faintly realized that the reason why Zhang Seng Xuan was in a hurry to bring him here despite the chaos in the depths of Health City was to start teaching him Huajian martial arts as soon as possible.
Otherwise, anyone who sees his newly accepted beloved apprentice will always throw himself aside, a genuine master, and cultivate the martial arts of other sects by himself, he will feel a toothache.
Seeing that Shi Zhixuan was about to complete the refining of the body and build the foundation, he was about to start cultivating his true qi, if Zhang Seng Xuan was not in a hurry, it would be abnormal—if he really wanted to let his only apprentice practice his true qi with a different sect of mind, it would be funny!
In other words, Shi Zhixuan was ninety percent sure that the 'Protector Venerable' of the Flower Sect was near Health City, and it was even likely to be in the tense Health City! )
