Chapter 65: The Reflection of Light
After crossing the Yangtze River, it entered the territory of the Southern Tang Dynasty. Daofan and I took a small boat and entered Yangzhou along the Grand Canal. And the other three brothers of Daofan separated from us because they wanted to go to Jinling to deliver the message.
When it comes to Jinling, I think of Li Divine Oracle, she should have returned to Jinling at this moment, I don't know what the country of the Southern Tang Dynasty looks like, and what the world-famous lyricist emperor Li Yu will look like.
It's May, and it's a scorching summer. Ever since I woke up, I've been on a small boat, and the hot weather and the boring itinerary have been irritating. And that Daofan monk is a stuffy gourd, in addition to meditation, is to boil medicine for me, whenever I want to chat with him, nagging to relieve boredom, he will either only nod, or only shake his head, or "um" and "oh" a little. The monk is really the most boring person in the world, and since then I no longer dare to pull him to ask long and short questions, and gossip is commonplace. However, it seems that the monk does not have any short-sightedness in his parents.
Wu Yue was founded by Qian Miao, the territory was narrow, and when it was at its peak, it only governed the thirteen prefectures of Hangzhou, Yue, Hu, Su, Xiu, Wu, Mu, Qu, Tai, Wen, Chu, Ming, and Fu; in addition, there were Zhenhai, Zhendong, Zhongwu, Xuande, Wusheng, Zhangwu and other festival towns.
Wu Yue is in the southeast of An, building the western capital in Hangzhou, building the eastern capital in Yuezhou, and governing the western capital in Qiantang, with jurisdiction over eight counties: Qiantang, Qianjiang, Yuhang, Anguo, Yuqian, Tangshan, Fuyang and Xincheng. Under the rule of the three generations of Wu Yue and the Five Emperors, the Western Capital was also prosperous and wealthy. Later generations Ouyang Xiu had this description in "The Story of Youmeitang": "Since the five dynasties of Qiantang, it has not been beaten, and its people are happy, rich and happy. More than 100,000 families, surrounded by lakes and mountains, left and right, and Fujian merchants, sails and sails, in and out of the smoke and mist, can be described as prosperous!"
It can be seen that Hangzhou at this time has been peaceful for a long time, and it is in a corner, and has not been touched by the war in the Central Plains.
After four or five days of wandering on the Grand Canal, we finally arrived at the destination of the trip. The moment I got off the boat, I couldn't help but sigh when I saw the bustling scene of people coming and going again. The days on the ship are really not people's lives, except for monks, they are still monks, except for boring, but they are still boring.
I wanted to take a good trip to Hangzhou, feel the customs of Qiantang, and the scenery of the lakes and mountains of Xizi Lake. Unfortunately, the residual poison on my body was not removed, and I was out of breath after walking a few steps, so I dispelled this idea.
Dao Fan told me that the reason why I fainted was because after being seriously injured by the invisible water, it stimulated the heart-eating herb poison in my body. Originally, the poison only dissolved in my blood, but this serious injury caused the poison to attack the heart. If it weren't for the hidden life-sustaining pill falling, maybe I would have died.
Sometimes I hate Yaoyin, and after I got into these troubles, I was poisoned twice, more or less because of her, and I was so busy with my life that I was busy curing my illness. I wanted to complain a few words, but Yao Yin didn't come forward anymore, so I couldn't make much sense, so I could only hold it back, and over time, I didn't care anymore.
I'm like this, and I can't afford to hate people. Even if you beat me to the ground, as long as you don't beat me to death, I will forget about it after a long time. Revenge or something, in my opinion, is the most boring thing in the world. With that kung fu, it is better to eat and drink well and enjoy life.
I don't know where the Yongming Temple is. This ancient temple in Hangzhou, which was famous in the Wuyue period, for me, a traveler, I can't think of such a famous temple in Hangzhou in later generations.
It wasn't until Daofan led me south along the West Lake and went up to Nanping Mountain that I suddenly realized that the so-called Yongming Temple was later known as Jingci Temple.
Tracing the history of Yongming Temple, that is, ten years ago, Qian Hongyu, the king of Wuyue, built it for Daofan's master, Yongming Yanshou Zen Master. The five emperors of the three dynasties of Wu Yue all believed in Buddhism, and most of the temples, pagodas, prayer buildings and grottoes around the West Lake in Hangzhou were built during this period.
Zen Master Yanshou was ordered by Qian Hongyu to go to Hangzhou in the first year of Song Jianlong to preside over the work of reviving Lingyin Temple. Longevity can be described as one of the generations of Zen masters in the world, and the double cultivation of Zen and purity is famous all over the world, and even in later generations, it is admired by the world. In particular, the commemoration of Amitabha's birthday in the Buddhist jungle in later generations is based on the birthday of Master Yanshou.
Standing outside the Yongming Temple, looking at this famous southeast temple that has only been built for ten years, but is full of incense, you will feel a strong atmosphere of Buddhist solemnity and majesty. Follow Daofan into the temple, see the majestic majesty of the big day in the Daxiong Treasure Palace, the monks stand on both sides, and the pious pilgrims burn incense to worship, for a time my heart is quiet and peaceful, such as a spring breeze.
"Master Xiao Shi will follow me to the backyard meditation room to rest, and wait for the poor monk to be the master of the family, and then make plans. ”
Dao Fan led the way in front, and I followed behind, passed the King Kong Hall, passed through the Thousand Buddha Pavilion, and entered the meditation room where the disciples lived in the backyard. After Daofan settled me, he returned to his master.
I don't know when I will see the legendary Zen Yin longevity, but I am also worried in my heart. After staying in the meditation room for a while, there was no trace of Daofan, so he went out of the meditation courtyard alone, circled along the courtyard, and unconsciously walked to the Xiangxuan kitchen.
At this moment, the sun is thinning, and the sky is gradually getting darker, but it is almost time for the monks to fast. The heat in the Xiangzhu kitchen was permeated, and the fragrance of rice and vegetables was blowing in my face, which made my stomach growl and I couldn't help but look in.
I stood at the door of the Xiangji Kitchen Courtyard and couldn't see the inside of the house clearly, but I saw a big well in the courtyard, and an old monk was drawing water.
The old monk put on a bucket of crystal clear well water, and seemed to hear my footsteps, so he looked at me, "Why is the donor here?"
The old monk who looked at me had a deep and distant gaze, a kind and kind face, and white eyebrows and beards, but at first glance, it brought people an indescribable sense of intimacy.
I sneered and scratched my head embarrassedly, "Why the master is here, I am here." ”
I saw that although this old monk was wearing a coarse cloth monk's robe, there was an extraordinary aura between his eyebrows, and he thought that he must not be an ordinary fire-headed monk, so I thought about testing this old monk.
The old monk lifted the bucket and smiled, "There is water in the well, what is in the water?"
I didn't know why, so I walked to the old monk in confusion, looked at the clear well water, and thought for a while, it turned out that the old monk had the intention of taking the school, so he said: "There is no water in the well, and there is no water and nothing." ”
The old monk asked what was in the water, which actually meant the reflection of the two of us, to explain that the two of us appeared here, just like the shadow in the well water, just the reflection projected into the well water by chance. And I replied that there was no water in the well, because the water in the well was too clear, and there was not a trace of ripples, as if there was no water. Since there is no water, there is no reflection of me and the old monk, and it also dissolves the old monk's metaphor that our appearance is like water reflecting the shadow of a person, which is just accidental.
The old monk put down the bucket, looked at me in surprise, and then stroked his beard and said, "Where can there be no water, how can there be a well, and there is nothing to see." ”
Yes, if there is no water, what do you need this well for, and how can it show a shadow if there is no object? The old monk no longer refutes me with abstract metaphors, but directly uses objective existence to explain the problem.
Since you don't play with me, then I'll talk to you about physics. "Master, there is water in this well, but it comes from the underground water deep underground, the water is clear and sweet, and it is introduced into the well at this moment, it does not flow and does not move, it seems to see the bottom of the well, but it does not see the well water. ”
The old monk smiled, noncommittal, I glanced at him, it seems that I don't want to put some fierce material, you old monk is still not convinced. "As for the figure in the water, in fact, it does not exist at all, it is not a concrete object, but caused by the reflection of light, when the well water is relatively calm, it is equivalent to a mirror, and has the ability to reflect light, and it is a truth to see your own scene in a bronze mirror. ”
"The mirror shadow is the same as the water shadow, but this poor monk also understands what 'reflection of light' is," the old monk asked with a frown.
Oops, I secretly screamed in my heart that it was not good, but it was self-defeating, everyone was just borrowing things to illustrate people, which was barely a philosophical problem, and I could still handle it. But now that I'm making such a fuss, the conversation has extended to physics. Physics, that's a real headache, I've never passed the middle and high school physics exams.
As for the question of "reflection of light", I searched for a long time, and then I remembered the rote answer I memorized in middle school to prepare for the exam: "When light hits two different boundaries, there is a phenomenon in which part of the light is reflected back into the original boundary from the interface, which is called the reflection of light." Objects with smooth surfaces are prone to specular reflection of light, forming a dazzling bright light, but the object cannot be seen clearly. Normally, the shape and presence of objects can be distinguished, which is due to the diffusion of hesitant light. Objects can be seen temporarily after sunset because of the diffusion of light caused by dust in the air. Whether it is specular or diffuse, the law of reflection must be observed. ”
I unconsciously reflexively said everything I had memorized, but when I finished speaking, I couldn't help but slap myself twice. Exam-oriented education kills people, I can't understand it myself, and I hope an ancient person can understand?
From the standpoint of this era, the old monk must not be able to understand my words, he frowned, and sometimes looked up at the sun in the sky, and then looked at the water in the well, "What is mirror reflection, what is diffuse reflection, and what is boundary quality?"
I am speechless when I ask what the three are, and I don't know much about myself, how can I explain it to you?
"What, I don't understand the master, I still have something to do, so I'll go first." ”
Seeing that the old monk's thirst for knowledge was so strong, I couldn't help but run away, and the old monk looked at me running away in embarrassment, and couldn't help but smile, "This little master is also a strange person." ”
After speaking, he carried the water and walked slowly towards the soup kitchen.
