Chapter 44: The Martyrdom of Muganlian
Sariputta replied, "The Buddha did not explain it directly, but said: There is a number of days in the week, and there should be a fixed number of Buddhas!"
Well, that's what the Buddha said and didn't say. Pen fun and pavilion www.biquge.info
After a pause, Sariputta continued, "Why does the world want to become a Buddha? Is the Buddha the ultimate truth?"
The stone monkey didn't know how to answer these two questions of Sariputta. The stone monkey doesn't even know what a Buddha is. Not to mention what truth there is!
The stone monkey changed the subject and continued to ask, "Aren't you about the same age as the Venerable Muggandian, why do you look so old?"
But Sariputta smiled and said, "Old! Old! Why bother to change anything. ”
The stone monkey understood this as Sariputta's personal hobby.
Unexpectedly, Sariputta changed the topic and said, "I have learned that Mu Ganlian is about to attain Nirvana, and he also has an agreement with the stone monkey benefactor. I just don't know if Mu Ganlian told the stone monkey donor the specific time of his nirvana? I want to send him on his last journey. ”
The stone monkey just wanted to reply that Venerable Muggall Lotus would die at the hands of the Outer Dao, but he still held back and changed his words: "I have never heard this Venerable Muggall Lotus mention it. ”
Sariputta regretted this: "It seems that Moggalla does not want me to send him on this last journey! After he cultivates in the tenth life, we will naturally see each other again. I just don't know if he will be himself or not when the time comes?"
Hearing this, the stone monkey couldn't help but be a little puzzled, could it be that the reincarnation and recultivation were no longer himself?
As soon as the stone monkey was about to open his mouth to ask this question, he saw an elderly man come over.
Sariputta stood up and saluted, "Why hasn't the lonely elder rested yet?"
The stone monkey also hurriedly got up and saluted.
He replied to the lonely elder, "I have seen Sariputta! Now this Yuanyuan Monastery has been built, and the Buddha has also stayed here." But I'm almost 80 years old this year, so I don't know what will happen to me when I die."
Sariputta replied, "Why don't you look up at the sky for the lonely elder?"
The lonely elder can't help but look up at the sky, but tonight's starry sky is no different from the past.
The stone monkey also looked up at the sky, only to see a palace emerging from the starry sky, magnificent and serene.
Seeing that the lonely elder looked at him suspiciously, Sariputta said again: "I have already used my heavenly eye on you, please look up at the sky again for the lonely elder!"
The lonely elder couldn't help but look at the sky again, saw the palace, and couldn't help but ask in shock, "Where is this palace? How can it be so magnificent?"
Sariputta explained, "This is the palace of the Six Desires, and one of them is for the lonely elder. This palace was built long before the Yuanyuan Retreat. ”
The lonely elder wandered around every palace, as if he didn't see his name, and asked again, "Then which palace is mine?" ”
Sariputta replied, "Your palace is located in the northeastern corner of the heavens of Tri. Treti represents longevity and practice. ”
After saying this, Sariputta pointed to a palace in the sky.
I saw that the other palaces slowly retreated, and this palace became real and splendid!
The lonely elder looked at the palace in front of him, and was excited for a while, bursting into tears, only feeling that all his previous efforts were worth it. Want to reach out and touch this palace......
After the lonely elder left, the stone monkey couldn't help but ask Sariputta, "Are the Six Desires Heaven the Elysium?"
Sariputta smiled and didn't answer the stone monkey's question, but asked, "I wonder if the stone monkey donor is interested in having an evening class with me?"
The stone monkey didn't have anything else to do for a while, so he nodded in agreement. And he was also interested in Sariputta's evening classes. Although Sariputta always does not answer his own questions directly.
The content of the evening class is very simple, that is, Sariputta recites a Buddhist scripture, and the stone monkey just recites it.
At the beginning, I recited the Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra, and then I didn't know what the sutra was.
Sariputta had a solemn countenance, a flat tone, a gentle pace of speech, and a clear voice......
Soon after the evening class, a new day began.
Accompanied by the fish white in the east, the stone monkey followed Sariputta to do a morning class, and of course also recited scriptures. Sariputta said, and the stone monkey followed.
All this reminds the stone monkey of his days of learning art with his ancestors in Sanxing Cave, which is plain but very beautiful......
Before the morning service was over, the Buddha came out of the courtyard and stood beside Sariputta and waited quietly.
After Sariputta had finished his morning service, the Buddha asked, "Sariputta, why are you doing your morning service outside? instead of in your room? Do you rest here all night?"
After bowing, Sariputta said, "There are no more rooms left in the Gion Ashram, so I rested here last night. Morning classes are also done here. ”
At this time, a group of monks came out of the courtyard, and when they saw that the Buddha was here, they all hurriedly came to pay respects.
After the ceremony, the Buddha said to these monks, "Today, no matter how advanced the practice of the Dharma is, I only say that this old man loves the young. Bhikkhus, you old Sariputta who has Sariputta, why do you rest in your house and enjoy sitting alone in a superior bed, while the old Sariputta sits in the open air and eats wind and drinks?"
The monks hurriedly bowed their heads and apologized to the Buddha and Sariputta.
So the Buddha spoke to these monks about their personal qualities under this big tree.
The stone monkey sounds like a moral lesson in elementary school, to be a good student and a young person. I thought it was quite interesting for a while.
After the Venerable Mogganda and the five Bodhisattvas came, the Buddha ended today's lecture and arranged everyone's tasks for today.
Sariputta and Vilamba continued to stay in the Gion ashram to entertain visitors, Manjushri and Puxian returned to the Bamboo Forest Monastery to bring the remaining bhikshus, and Lingji, Avalokiteshvara and Moggalla went around to preach the Dharma......
Seeing that the Buddha was busy, the stone monkey told him and went back to the side room to find his sisters and ask what arrangements were made today.
The old mother of Lishan said to the stone monkey: "I have to stay here for three days, and my brother can move freely for these three days, and he can come back every night." ”
The stone monkey thought about it, and it seemed that he had nothing to do. Then go out with your future teachers and see how they spread the Dharma. Do you want to send out a flyer, do a promotion or something?
When the stone monkey caught up with Venerable Muggallian, he found that he was alone.
The stone monkey said to Venerable Muggallian, "Is it okay for Venerable Muganlian to take me with you to promote the Dharma?"
Venerable Muganlian smiled and said, "It seems that the stone monkey donor has nothing to do today. Okay, then I'll take the stone monkey donor around. ”
The stone monkey then transformed into a small monk and followed behind the Venerable Muggallian, wandering around, chatting with the Venerable Muganlian.
It's just that the weather is a bit bad today, although there is sun, but there are dark clouds all over, and it looks like heavy rain is coming.
When the stone monkey and the Muggallian Venerable passed by the foot of the Yijia Lili Mountain, the Muggallian Venerable, who was still smiling one moment ago, suddenly changed his face the next moment, and then seemed to suddenly understand something.
I saw Venerable Muggallian say to the stone monkey in a calm tone: "Stone monkey donor, please wait here for a while, no matter what happens after a while, you don't need to meddle." Please also keep in mind the agreement about the Nine Rank Lotus Flowers!"
After saying this, without waiting for the stone monkey to react, Venerable Muggallian walked towards the foot of the mountain alone.
After being stunned for a moment, the stone monkey was about to open his mouth to ask what he meant by this, when he saw countless huge stones falling from the top of the mountain, burying the Venerable Muganlian.
At this time, the stone monkey was really stunned, and secretly thought to himself: This, there will be nothing wrong with the Venerable Muggallian, right? Probably not? Anyway, the Venerable Muganlian is the second disciple of the Buddha to sit down, and has the reputation of being the first supernatural power. But is there really nothing going to happen?
Thinking of the fact that Venerable Muggallian had said that he would die at the hands of the Outer Dao, the stone monkey immediately became uncalm, and flashed to the side of the pile of stones, and moved all the stones aside with a wave of his hand.
I saw that there were still some living people under the rocks, only a pool of vague flesh and blood, and I could vaguely see the sackcloth monk's robes, broken legs and stumps, and the head of the Venerable Moggallus rolling to the side.
Seeing such a bloody scene, the stone monkey couldn't help but vomit, but also wept sadly.
At this time, a group of people ran down from the top of the mountain, still shouting something. When they saw the blurred flesh and blood of the Venerable Moggallus, they were overjoyed.
The stone monkey just wanted to take out the golden hoop stick and beat these people to death, but he still put it down and performed a fixing technique to freeze them.
The stone monkey sat in front of the corpse of the Venerable Muganlian for a long time, letting the wind and rain blow......
After the wind and rain dissipated, when the first rays of sunlight shone on the body of the Venerable Muggallian, a cicada chirped, bursts of Buddha sounds were deafening, there were golden lotus blooming, there was Buddha appearance, the six reincarnations were erected, and the heavens and stars were brilliant......
The stone monkey watched all these visions appear and disappear, and finally left only one relic in its place.
The stone monkey picked up the relic, cast a spell and took these people, and then rushed back to the Gion Monastery to tell the Buddha about it.
The Gion Monastery is still full of visitors, and when the stone monkey returns, the Buddha has been waiting at the door for a long time.
Seeing the relics held in the hands of the stone monkey, the Buddha said bitterly: "Although I have a premonition, I don't want it to be like this." Karma, Heavenly Dao Cycle! Since there are arrangements in front of Mu Ganlian, then his relics will be handed over to the stone monkey benefactor for safekeeping. ”
When the Buddha mentioned the 'relics of the Muggallus', the monks on the side realized that this relic belonged to the Venerable Muggallus, and the Venerable Muggalla had attained nirvana!
But when he saw Venerable Moggallian this morning, he was still in good spirits, and he had attained supernatural powers and profound Dharma, how could he attain Nirvana so easily?
Seeing the outer paths brought back by the stone monkey again, the monks couldn't believe it and asked the stone monkey loudly, "Could it be that these outer ways killed the Venerable Moggallus?"
The stone monkey looked at the agitated monks and nodded silently.
The monks shouted in disbelief, "How can these ordinary people kill the Venerable Moggallian! This is impossible! This is impossible!"
The shouts of these monks alarmed everyone in the Gion ashram, and even the four bodhisattvas who had gone out rushed back after receiving the news.
For a while, the stone monkeys were surrounded in the middle of the crowd, and all the monks cried out in pain.
Sariputta stared at the relics of the Venerable Gandhara in a daze, and his eyes wept.
After speaking, the Buddha turned away and did not say anything more.
And those who killed the Venerable Muggalla were taken away by the king of Persia, who had arrived, and King Ajata also ordered that they should be thrown into the fire pit and burned to death......
In the days that followed, the crowd in the Gion Seisha was excited, and even the Acropolis was surging, and the surrounding countries were hunting and killing foreign roads......
Lishan's mother and her party were delayed for a few more days.
Of course, after this, the stone monkey finally officially met with the Buddha.
In a large hall, there are only two people, the Buddha and the stone monkey. The Buddha sits on the main seat, and the stone monkey sits opposite.
The ancestor of the Buddha asked the stone monkey, "Has the stone monkey benefactor ever traveled to the Four Divine Prefectures?"
The stone monkey shook his head and said, "This is not the case! ”
The Buddha continued to ask, "Does the stone monkey donor think that the Four Divine Prefectures are too barren?"
The stone monkey thought for a while and replied: "There are no people for a hundred miles, no villages for a thousand miles, and no cities for thousands of miles." ”
The Buddha asked, "Do you know why this is the case with the stone monkey benefactor?"
The stone monkey shook his head.
However, the Buddha sighed and said, "I once heard the ancient Buddha of the Burning Lamp say that when the great god Nuwa created all the creatures in the heavens and the earth, how prosperous the heavens and the earth were! There are hundreds of races, and there are more than tens of thousands of living beings! These creatures compete for every inch of land and every drop of water. But only a few thousand years have passed, and there are only humans and demons left, and the Four Divine Prefectures are barren all over the place. ”
The stone monkey couldn't help but wonder why the Buddha said these words to himself, and what did these have to do with him? These are not things that he can change.
Buddha continued, "Why is the number of beings in heaven and earth decreasing so much, because they did not cultivate virtue in their previous lives, and when they die, they are sent to hell and cannot be reincarnated. At the beginning of the formation of hell, there was a rule: all living beings who are sent to hell will never be reborn! Therefore, the living beings in the world will only become fewer and fewer, and they may eventually disappear. Because they're all going to hell!"
Hearing this, the stone monkey couldn't help but be a little stunned! Thinking about it, this is really possible. Because it is almost impossible for a ghost to get out of hell. And not all living beings in the world do good deeds and accumulate virtues, there are always some who do evil. Those who do evil will surely be sent to hell. The number of living beings in the world will only get smaller and smaller.
Thinking of this, the stone monkey suddenly said: "Does the Buddha want me to go to the ghosts in the hell? But I don't know how many years it will take me to complete the ghosts one by one, and I may never be able to complete them!"
The Buddha shook his head and said, "The strength of the stone monkey donor alone is completely inadequate! When the time comes, I will unite the Jade Emperor and the Northern Yin Emperor to act together." It's just that the stone monkey donor will be miserable then!"
The stone monkey couldn't help but wonder: "Please also ask the Buddha to explain what he needs me to do?"
The Buddha said: "This time to unite the ghosts of the transcendent hell, we need to use the merits of the stone monkey donor to suppress the hell passage for five hundred years!"
The stone monkey still didn't understand, so he asked, "Then what do you want me to do?"
