Chapter Twenty-Four: Central Boulevard
"Meditation is the foundation of being a shaman, because meditation is the only way for shamans to connect and communicate with mana...... To put it simply, the shaman uses meditation to deepen his interaction with Ma, and by manipulating Mana's trajectory and compressing or reorganizing Mana's order, Mana's high mimicry traits are activated to cast spells. Hareddick held the magic scroll in his hand and let himself meditate. Although he was not a well-established wizard, as an elf with a natural affinity for Mana, Haredith could clearly feel that Mana around him was attracted to the scrolls, and he was using the most basic magical techniques to sort out the magical energy.
Haredith tore open the scroll, and the magic circle that sealed the scroll was destroyed, and the runes written in Mana poured out of the scroll like a torrent of finding a breach. The magical energy of the mana turned into a dark blue, flowing shield that surrounded the convoy.
The maddening heat of the crowd was immediately replaced by a refreshing coolness, and even the sun spraying hot wires overhead softened, looking up like an orange pom-pom hanging in the sky. Haredith jumped into the leading carriage and signaled the convoy to hurry up and make sure to pass the desperate rock wall before the magic wore off.
In the middle of the rock wall of the desperate situation, this rift valley that somehow cracked is about two miles long, and the width is barely enough for a horse-drawn cart. After walking in the rift valley for more than half an hour, everyone seemed to be faintly smelling the smell of grass, trees and soil from the dry sand around them. The further you go, the more clear the smell becomes, and you can even see some weeds or vines on the ground or on the surrounding rock faces.
The soft yellow sand on the ground was gradually replaced by moist earth, and the sunlight overhead gradually softened. As the enveloping convoy of magic disappeared like a burst bubble, a soft breeze with the scent of the forest blew from the other side of the rift, lifting everyone's spirits.
When the convoy finally reached the end of the rift valley, they were presented with a completely different scene from the desert world covered with yellow sand. Those towering trees that were thicker and taller than dragons, and that had grown on this continent for many years, were born one after another. Although the silence of autumn stained the leaves of the giant tree yellow, the dense branches at the top of the canopy still obscured the entire sky, and only speckled sunlight peeked through the cracks. A trail that had apparently been trampled through the woods, and some of the black-necked pigeons, who were resting in the treetops, seemed to be startled by the uninvited visitors who had broken into the forest, and let out a piercing scream and flew across the trail into the depths of the forest.
"Welcome to Middle Avenue!" Haredith smirked as he turned his head to the convoy.
-------------------------------------
The happiest of them were the horses of the Northland, who pulled the wagons and carried the people on their backs, and when they entered the forest of the Central Boulevard, the horses that saw the green space and the cool breeze changed into the desert, and their heads held high and neighed with excitement. Thanks to the familiar environment, the horses regained their strength, and the members of the convoy were able to sit in the carriage instead of walking on their own legs, which immediately more than doubled the speed of the convoy.
Since the destruction of the Baijie Pass, it has become a necessary route for smugglers and slave traders to travel from the Central Highway to the Western Sand Sea. So as the convoy moved forward along the trail, the path on the ground became clearer and wider as it exited the mouth of the rift gap, and the trees around it showed signs of being cut down. ...,
After walking out of the dense forest composed of towering giant trees, the convoy came to a forest road with a relatively open view. Before Haredik, Hanlon and the others could get together to discuss where to camp tonight and how to find a water source, they saw a cloud of smoke and dust suddenly rise in front of the convoy.
The smoke and dust that was several meters high and almost covered the entire road ahead was clearly not natural, but was formed by horses running down the dirt with their hooves. Hanron rode his horse to Haredik's side, stared at the front with a solemn expression, and said, "Is it a robber?"
Naturally, the armies of the human kingdom would not appear in such a wild woodland, and ordinary caravans would not raise such a large amount of smoke and dust, so the most likely thing is that there are only those robbers who make a living by robbing.
"Possibly. Hareddick squinted his pale eyes and said earnestly.
Han Long immediately turned around and shouted at the convoy behind him: "There is a situation ahead, everyone raise their spirits!"
"Roar!" Hanlon's knights let out a low roar in unison, drew their swords from their waists, and divided into two teams, one to guard the convoy full of servants, and the other to ride forward, ready for random attacks. Hanlon held the reins and stared ahead, and Haredith drove Beata, who was sitting on the sidelines to watch the excitement, into the carriage, and he jumped out of the carriage and pulled out a pair of scimitars from his waist in wait.
However, when he saw who was in front of him, not only Hanlon was taken aback, but even Hareddick couldn't believe that his mouth grew. At the front of the convoy came a group of about twenty silver-armored knights, and the knight who looked like he should be the leader at the front was wearing a set of chain armor that only high-ranking knights could have. However, this was not the reason for Hanlon and Haredit's surprise, and the most unexpected thing was that the banner with some kind of coat of arms held high by the knight's squire following the leader knight.
"Redcrown Flower Single Leaf Side Coat of Arms? Why did you meet the Holy Knights in such a place!!" Faced with Hanlon's question, Haredith could only shake his head in confusion, he really didn't expect to meet the Guardian Knights of the Human Kingdom on such a dense forest path.
The knights of the Holy Knights stopped their horses about ten paces away from the convoy, and the holy knight at the head pressed down on the neighing steed, raised his chin to Haredith, and said loudly, "I am Sheila Prander, the Knight of the Golden Order! 500 Dar Elves, 300 Dals for Orcs, 200 Dals for Dwarves, 100 Dals for other non-human races, double the number of women and halved for children, and kill the Drow Elves!"
Then, before Haredith and the others could come to their senses, the holy knight named Poland commanded the knights behind him with a big hand: "Search for me!"
"Wait!" Han Long snapped, stopping the holy knights who had been trying to rush up.
Poland raised his eyebrows and shouted angrily, "Old man, do you want to rebel against the great Holy Knights!" Then he suddenly spotted Haredik standing beside Hanlon, so his cloudy eyes immediately flashed a light, pointed at Haredith and said, "Look what this is? A gray elf bastard! 100 Doyle! small ones! Search me quickly and see how many of these elven sluts are still hiding in these guys!"
"I'm telling you to slow down!" Hanronze stepped forward and said proudly, "I am Sergeant Major Craig Hanlon of the Southern Miles Territory, and I am responsible for escorting the widow of Baron Jon Miles to visit relatives in Uelder City. If you respect the way of knighthood, you must not be so rude!"
"Baron, widow! noble!" The golden knight's eyes lit up again, and his ugly face full of stubble showed a greedy greed, and then, as if suddenly realizing that he was a little out of shape, he immediately cleared his throat and pretended to be full of disdain and said: "How can a rich man from the countryside come from so much nonsense! Open your dog's eyes and show me clearly! We are holy knights, obediently give me the taxes that should be paid, or I will kill this damned gray elf mongrel!"
"Then you can kill him!
A shrill voice emanated from the convoy, and both sides of the confrontation looked in unison. Blake was pushing the door of his carriage open and walking out with an excited and cruel smile. In the carriage, the baroness was anxiously saying to her son, "Come back, son!"
"No! Mommy!" Blake said with a wave of his hand at his mother, and he raised his finger to the holy knights around the convoy who had half surrounded him, and said happily, "Look, Mommy, holy people! With them, we don't need this damn elf as our guide!"
"What are you, little ghost!" said Plande, with a wrinkle of his nose at Blake.
"Watch your wording, knight!" Blake's feet trembled slightly with fear, but he pointed to Plan's face and snapped, "My name is Blake Duandon, heir to the House of Duandon, the future Lord of the Dawn!"
